2.10: remastering often deletes alienpackages.txt.

#1 Post by vientito »

am using 2.10 with the default remastering script. i have noticed that alienpackages.txt are oftentimes wiped clean after remastering, even though the syntax in it is perfectly normal.

I am questioning if this in fact creates problems for the remastered discs and subsequent remastering of the same exact disc?

After you remaster all the "alien" packages are not alien anymore (i.e., they're part of the base system).
That's why they're moved from the alienpackages.txt file to the packages.txt (livepackages.txt) file.

the strange part is that i could not even find the names of those ex-alien packages in packages.txt either. except that i could find them in my /etc, /usr/lcoal/bin... they don't seem to leave a trace on the records.
