Agree completely!
Can I ask what you mean by this?

I have multiple HP printers and scanners, with the hplip and hpijs pets installed the cups interface has given me no problems, even my old plotter, drum and roll printers work as well as the slide-scanner.

I admit it does take a small amount of time to check that the settings are correct for internationalization for an interface when you first set it up for a device, but so far, I have never had to rework one.

You got me. What I mean is that I am too lazy to learn the in and outs of Cups. Since you say that it works as it should when it is properly understood, I will try to do better ;-)

Lupu-521 RC aka Release What You Tested

Very few changes
-> back to flashplayer 10.2.153.1 by forum feedback

-> back to original udev because the updates seemed to be associated with network dropouts
-> latest BaCon in Devx to make Barry happy - runtime libhug in iso
-> i915.modeset version 2 by rerwin
-> considerable work on devx

Did a manual upgrade of the frugal install on the old P4 test box from 257 to 521 RC. Worked pretty well once I remembered to rename the save file from "lucisave" to "lupusave"......... :lol:

All previously installed apps still working,wallpaper stayed the same as well as all settings.Only had the expected icon problem which was fixed in one click.

Both installs looking good so far.

Well, Chris, I was slightly disappointed to be left with 256 wallpaper when I did a FULL upgrade, whereas I prefer the 257 one. C'est la vie.
Good news, therefore, that 251RC gave me the ghost in the forest! One step forward, but, for the first time, I had the scrambled disc icons feature - never seen before with any of its predecessors. When I shuffled them around, FD0 disappeared...
...only to return with everything, including the misplaced eth0 tray icon, present and correct after restarting X.
EudoraOSE1 running nicely - always the favourite of professionals; downside is I'll have to adjust it's defective dictionary one more time!

521RC Finds Different Video

#954 Post by RandSec »

On a modern Core i3 processor, which has on-chip video, with both 256 and 257, Puppy Video Wizard probing suggested the Xorg High driver. In contrast, 521RC, on the exact same equipment, finds "GeForce 6800 LE" and recommends the nvidia driver. That driver does seem to work, but a last-minute driver change seems a little disturbing.

Just occurred to me to mention it...
Though perhaps too late for this Puppy version.

Is it possible to make provision/changes to include this kind of thing?
I like to be able to choose to not save a session.
Or else to choose the point in time at which to save.
Even when the pupsave is held on an internal HDD.

Quickly,

Bugs reported in Luci253 still there,
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 965#501965

Except for Google Earth which runs, but with illegible fonts.

How would this get implemented in puppy then. What is the practical effect of such a merge? Okay maybe they tell at the link?

it says

The latest stable version is ntfs-3g-2011.1.15, released on January 23, 2011.
The latest test version is ntfs-3g_ntfsprogs-2011.3.28-RC, released on March 27, 2011.
