I've updated the test version of LxPupXenial to version 17.06.00...

There is an iso and a delta from 17.03.00 on SourceForge

Still a derivative of XenialPup-7.0.8.1 with 32-bit kernel 4.9.13 nopae

Could you make an LXPup based on Quirky April? I want to try one that uses packages made for puppy. Many Ubuntu packages just don't speak puppy, and I don't have good luck with slackware.

Hi
I did make .pets back in 2015:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 210#807210
https://sourceforge.net/projects/lxpup/ ... y-April64/

but I'm afraid I don't have the effort to take them any further....sorry!

1. you will need to remaster to really remove items - or you can delete/rename items in /usr/share/applications to just remove them from the menu
2. Google do not provide a 32-bit version of Chrome for some time now
3. What do you mean by "can't install"????
You need to provide much more detail of your installation and boot setup.....
and these are basic questions about how Puppy works (i.e. not LxPup specific) which will probably be better answered in other parts of the forum.
Cheers

the only sin that my remastered of lxpup has
its that fifefox cant not be upgraded beyond 45 for missing libraries
and cant use google chrome because its not 64 bits

i have it with wps office, mixx, fceux, zsnes, stella, qcomix,
and its was perfet for those child laptops
the venezuelan goberment hand over
many loses or damaged their harddisk in weeks
but with this miracle called puppy linux i had bring them to life again

i just love firefox
but many people over here only knows to use google chrome

how can i "Upgrade it"
or has someone had done it some where already?

Hello, r3n4n, I am using firefox-52.2.1esr on LxPupXenial-17.06.00, with great satisfaction.

I downloaded the above version of firefox, in my language, from here:
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/o ... tions/all/

Delete your older firefox folder, or the files inside the ffx folder, then unpack ffx 52.2.1 into this folder and run it from there.

Hope this helps...

Not Google-Chrome but a superior Clone

Hi r3n4n,

"cant use google-chrome because its not 64 bits". True, but OscarTalks has published a 32-bit Iron, http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 923#943923 which uses the same blink engine as google-chrome, and --if I'm not mistaken-- is a modified version of Chromium from which google-chrome, itself, is based. Iron's modification makes it a superior browser -- it strips out much of google-chromes "report to google" features. If that enhancement to privacy doesn't concern you, Iron can use most of the Addons built for Google-chrome (which may put such "call home" feature back).

When Google and websites will insist on your having the "latest", requiring an update to a 32-bit version which doesn't exist, is anyone's guess. But for now, enjoy Iron version 58.

Or consider peebee's Vivaldi, http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 614#959614 or using Opera as explained by gjuhasz, http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 716#959716.

mikesLr

p.s. Just discovered that ETP published recent 32-bit version 58 and 59 Chromiums for TV/PR Xenial. Don't know if they will function under other Xenials. See http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 495#954495 and a couple of posts later.

Hi

In reverse order....

Microsoft have announced that the old Skype would cease working on 1 July and the replacement Skype-for-Linux will only work on 64-bit Linux so you cannot now use Skype on LxPupXenial sadly....

Firewall enable = right click on the icon in the system tray.

Keyboard switching is probably not implemented in LxPupXenial....it should however work in LxPupSc (Slackware Current base) but whether ctrl+shift works I've no idea....and no way to test....

Cheers!

350.6 MB with Libre Office

LxPupXenial-17.06.00-nopae.iso 2017-06-13 350.6 MB
Based on XenialPup...
It's a version for office workers.. I store a full panel of office kits, in case of need..
Sorry, i like a lot Puppy, but XenialDOG is much more efficient. Puppy was proud to be the best, and it was. Beware the dog :!:

LxQtPup is enough , better, it's my preferred LXpup, because so many apps are available ( Mplayer included)
Xenialpup freezes fast in my computer (bad kernel ? ). If Lxpup would have be lighter, i would have downloed it. Remove Libre Office ? Better typists load it as SFS for their homework
The only Puppy able to run GCstar > LxPup synaptic (oldies but goodies)
Screenshot being deleted soon
About your Libre Office,
so big, there is no feed back on the forum, excepted about install as usual.. These office suites can be compared with Gnumeric, Abiword, or graphic tools found in puppy menu..
Gnumeric is a clone of EXCEL, i can bet with you that it is better than Calc.
Nobody claims about Libre Office... perhaps because nobody uses it, excepted the typing tool, the writer.. 350MB is very expensive.
goffice-lupu-528JP-1.sfs 7MB is enough for my homework, end of month (Abiword, Gnumeric and inkscape included).

Never done it myself - but should be - use "Dialup analog or wireless modem (2g/3g)" in Internet Connection Wizard - I think?

Otherwise ask on a thread about such matters....

connect Puppy wireless with a dongle:
Just choose a kernel able to do it. Rcrsn51 has a list of kernels. Then choose your Puppy Linux to use

Could someone explain to me why this puppy will work when it's based on 666Philb xenialpup 32 bit pup which it seems by that latest thread has bitten the dust along with 666Philb? Oh Pelo I tried the xenialdog and although it tried a lot longer than the xenialpup it didn't boot up. Anyone with any other 32 bit xenial (pup, dog or anything else) suggestions?

Thanks

Booted LxXenialpup iso burned to cd (no md5 check some I could see) and installed frugally to hard drive with a save folder. I installed Conky and then it would boot to the desktop but with no icon's or taskbar so I uninstalled Conky and I'll see if that was the problem. Computer is a P4 3.0 ghz cpu with an ati video card, 120 gb ssd, 1 gig ram with a 2 gig swap file.
I must also say that Xenialpup is the first puppy I have downloaded and it didn't boot (Xenialdog was the second) and this goes back to Lupu 5.25.

Thanks
