Back on 2.14X now :) and here's the thing do you want Pwget or Uget? I was using 416 and that had Uget and so I tried the 4 series package and it worked, give it a try and please inform me which is the better of the 2?

pwget/uget

Hello!

Been trying pwget from 4 series and uget from the link above out by downloading isos from ibiblio. If a transfer is interrupted, pwget resumes the download from where it was :) , while uget restarts from the beginning :(.
With pwget it is possible to download multiple files by using wildcards. :)
With uget batch download this should also be possible but, the narrow choice of preset wildies severly limits the use of this feature (or perhaps I didn't grasp its function properly) :( :?.
Although uget has a more developed interface, with more options, my vote goes to pwget, for its simple interface, and more importantly, because it resumes (not restarts) interrupted downloads.

here's the version I'm going to use, I removed the default icon and reused the download icon to save space and plus the default icon was choppy looking due to the 16x16 menu size, I change the directory structure to /usr/bin no need to have a directory for a single script and gave it the default puppy logo, to spruce up the gui. Now its a lot smaller also :)

went from 9.1kb ---> 1.5kb now :)

ttuuxxx, tested your last pwget-version (know it should work the same but, tested anyway  ), works nicely, and looks nicer :), a keeper :D.

# Linux bootable initrd config begins

kernel /boot/puppy214R/vmlinuz root=/dev/hda1 root=/dev/ram0 PMEDIA=idehd

I haven't read the whole 59 pages yet, so I don't know if this has been reported. When installing with Puppy Universal Installer, which calls Grub Bootloader config, which writes this error to menu.lst. with V5 2.14X

Ok my last update for pwget, I changed the 'ok' button to 'Download' and gave it the download icon :"
Now it looks really professional, I didn't like 'ok' due to the fact that a lot of programs use 'ok' for other things. Download is more specif to the task at hand. :)

Ok are you sure this is a problem, funny nobody else has had a issue, well ok How to do we fix it ? Do you have a dialog update file etc?
Just always quicker if people provide files for testing :)
There were some issues with installs also, I'm not pro at that sort of config, so I'll leave it up to you guys to work it out and I'll include any fixes that work :)

Hi guys for V7 this is what I have so far, based on V5
fixed petget uninstall/installer
updated firefox and added simple mail, flashblock
fixed beep media-player
include a icon for Iso images
updated minixcal with Osmo link
clarfs xorg fix
added Pwget,,, removed XWGET
Changed some mimes and icons
Updated mut text fix by OlddogNewtricks
fixed the locales
added release notes
Updated Pup-Shots

I'm not going to tackle abiword or gxine this release, That I'll keep for maybe the next release, Just trying to get things stable/updated first, before some big changes. Anything else small that might be added to the release?

Hi ttuuxxx, Looking good for X7. Here's another small thing. It's possible to install tar.gz's to pup, but there's no obvious way to do it. The easiest is to add a rox menu symlink (just like gtkhash) to petget in /usr/sbin. In my pic I've changed the name to install & added an icon. What do you think.

Hi I'll give it a shot and see what happens:)
I also made right click menu items for cd/iso files, Now you can burn or erase directly like image below :)

ttuuxxx,

You're such a busy guy I hope what I'm about to ask of you
won't be a difficult or time consuming possibility:

Would it be possible to also produce a version of 214X7
which has the SeaMonkey browser? Perhaps it could be
214X7-S versus 214X7-F (Firefox)?

On my older system SeaMonkey is much snappier than
Firefox and I've really grown accustomed to it. For some
reason when I use Firefox certain websites grind to a
very sluggish near halt.

Believe me, we all appreciate your common sense genius
in the way you innovate and 'make better' the things we
truly like about Puppy!

Double post!

I have the tar.gz working :) also to keep the icons that are set, the /root/.config/rox.sourceforge.net/ROX-Filer/globicons file had to be copied, thats where it stores the info about the images :)

Hi Hugh why not follow these simple steps :)
delete /lib/firefox
delete /root/.mozilla/firefox
delete /usr/share/applications/FireFox.desktop
install http://www.ttuuxxx.gposil.com/2.14X/int ... 1.1.16.pet
refresh menus and you should be good to go, a lot easier than uploading 2 iso's with every release, maybe the final I might make 2 versions, but then people will want updates and every release will be 2 versions, hmmm anyways its simple to install Seamonkey the way I laid out the installs for this release

Here's the latest epdfview/poppler, I compiled it today, its 789kb compressed, so you guys figure it out if it should be in or out? When you install it just refresh menus, also I made it default pdf image viewer in the package. So just click a pdf and it should open.

Brilliant thinking ttuuxxx, straightforward tasks made simple.
Here's another little mod I like, posted by pizzasgood ages ago somwhere on this forum. Open /root/.Xdefaults & below the line 'Rxvt*saveLines: 1000' add,

Rxvt*scrollColor: #81A0CF
Rxvt*scrollBar_right: true

it will give a coloured right hand scroll bar to rxvt.

I like the index feature on epdfview. Are the scroll & select text buttons on the toolbar dead. As in pup 4 they don't do anything.

synth's SeaMonkey 2.0 (Jul 2, 2009) + Flash 10 http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=43950 works really well in 214X :).

Really nice! 8)

Select text works, even though it doesn't seem to :). Select some text and paste into another window by using the middle mouse button.

Features I do miss in epdfview, though, are the possibility to scroll the text with the mouse scrollwheel and to scroll pages  .

MHHP, thanks for explaining 'select text' button & yes the mouse scroll wheel only works when the mouse arrow is placed over a scroll bar as in other apps. Works in pup 4 so a bit more work for ttuuxxx perhaps. I suppose the scroll button simply means you can click & drag the page around the screen.
