No doubt you do ttuuxxx, as you've been immersed in it from the off, however, I've seen more than a few exasperated readers pleading for an answer that was on p112 or something....could be a bit more coordinated, perhaps?

I read what I interpret to be favorable opinion in this thread about cloud computing and how it could / should be insinuated into Puppy Linux, for those that do I suggest you read this and give thought to the possible consequences: Cloud Computing, a Huge Step Backwards

A what ticks me off thought.

Isomaster.

Never works 4 me.

I have to configure it..to extract ISO format.
And it's never in a menu.

Ridiculous.
Once I set the run action...it fires up nicely.

Tested in countless Puppies...it never works out of the box.

Fixable???

puppyite, thanks for the reminder about techno's efforts to get googlecode bugtracker implemented.....sadly few people used/adopted it, and the consequence, looking at 4.4 bugtracker, is that 'news' outnumber 'fixed'....maybe a column named fixed was needed...?

pemasu is making a kernel 2.6.38.2 pet for woof builds...
His kernel, in IcePuppy `006, is very stable so far, and you might build an spup with it and check it out...
I am going to build 5.25 with it...eventually..LOL...
If you decide ti go with woof..

In case you want to go the Woof way, I'm doing another T2 build now. The previous one produced a 85 MB Puppy (no browser) with spup's kernel, which is quite big.

The new build has the latest GKT+ 2.x and some other stuff upgraded, while some "system" stuff are not latest, e.g ncurses 5.7 or less 436, since they do a very specific thing and as long as they work, they're more than fine.

This time I want to take advantage of XZ compression with Squashfs and build something smaller. I aim at 70-75 MB.

LHP already includes Wine, Fatdog also has an option to install it. Green_dome's Wine versions for pup are kept up-to-date and they work on all pups that I've tried. IMO, it would be better to have an installer like Quickpet or an enhanced PPM that includes Wine for optional installation. Although, I use it daily, not everyone wants or needs to use Windows software.

Yeah, a nice new quickpet, with sfs loading on the fly would be a huge step forward in ease of use for novice users - particularly when adding stuff like WINE, vbox, etc....

(In case anyone thinks OTF SFS loading is still experimental, I've been using a cut down pup SFS, with many extra SFS loaded on the fly since the very first day goingnuts posted his script - all the SFS files load up startup, and work fine once loaded.. I have FF3, vbox, devx, assaultcube, cartoon-fighter, openoffice3 and a printing-pack sfs all loaded up and working fine... and shinobars OTF SFS tools also work fine - tested them a lot on another setup)

I hacked the stock ones BK has for woof to be more slack

. I'll post them here as a sort of template. I believe you can only have 15 colours as the last one is reserved for the text. The orange has to go!

zigbert, I like that xorg-wizard look, looks like it will fit better on a small screen too. I have a similar idea for pupdial.

puppyite, Béèm, Aitch, and those asking about a bug tracker.
If all goes well then that is the idea, set up a bug tracker and have a few prominent users have a link to it in their signature. Hopefully that would be more encouraging

sc0ttman, I love otf sfs loading

, spup-100 uses shinobar's sfs_load and in quickpet, if you have shino's app installed that pops up as the first option to load the sfs, so we are thinking similar there

withoutpity, yes, we will do what we can to make puppy more internationalised. This is a big task and needs lots of helpers/translators

cthisbear.. isomaster works ok for me, maybe there are settings missing in it, we'll do our best.

Béèm, I think spup-100 misses the latest mtpaint, you may be able to find it in the wary5 repo at ibiblio/quirky.

One big thing that is lacking in Puppy Linux is a help that does give usefull help information.
Lucid Puppy made a good start, with the help page in Lucid Puppy News, in Quickpet.

The Future Is Already Happening and has nothing to do with Ubuntu.
I didn't expect it to last long in puppy world anyway.
It was good idea to have large compatible repo but Barry and many puppy users I believe don't want puppy classified as another ubuntu derivative.

spup120 working fine in my pc.

frugal installing done.not used to seamonkey loaded mozilla but looks and feel of mozilla in spup is quite different.

I actually avoided Lucid because of its Ubuntu link. I cant stand that disto. (Hey... we each have our own opinions).
I'm REALLY stoked that the new release will be based on Slackware. And a kernel thats not over 2 years old... YAY!
