Lighthouse Pup 5.02 185M
You tried installing the ATI drivers that TazOC has made? If so... go through Xorgwizard and try to manually set the driver to the ATI one you've installed.AndrewG wrote:What about 3D acceleration guys?
I have 2Hgz Intel and ATI Mobility M6LY and with radoen drivers there is only 13frames /s in 3D balls test.
Is this normal? I have also changed xorg.conf file. I added additional acceleration settings in device section but there is no change.
Do you have some clue?
Sorry I cant be much help, I deal with Intel Graphics.
2 more questions if you don't mind.
I did not try to install ATI drivers by TazOC because I could not find them in lighthouse. This link is also dead http://www.lhpup.org/download502.htm#SFS
Please paste some link.
Another issue I have found is almost same to Beem's one.
A few posts above I said that my problem with wifi drivers is gone. Unfortunately I have to do ndiswrapper setup after every rebbot.
I have black listed original linux driver but it keeps loading during the boot time. To get wifi running I have to unload ndiswrapper and linux driver, then I have to load ndiswrapper back. It works fine until I switch off computer.
I think it is black listed because pup doesn't ask me anymore to blacklsit it when I'm unloading it. I did it once but it keeps loading. Any clue?

AccuWeather widget
AccuWeather widget
I wanted to change to my place, Brussels Belgium.
I didn't find in the widget the code to enter, but there was a reference to look at the AccuWeather web site.
I did so, but I can find the page to display the weather for Brussels Belgium, but I don't find the code to enter in the widget.
Does anybody know how to find that code?
Who did make the weather widget? Found it was Zigbert

01micko told me already.
The complete code is EUR|BE|BE003|BRUSSELS 01micko has also made a correction for the weather widget.
The button in the widget configuration brings you to the rss feed page now, so the code is more easily obtained.

Beem take up this thing with auto mount here

Sadly I am so dense that I fail to get what you write there.
How do I turn off automount?
Re the weather. Ah so I can change Kennewick to Stockholm? How?

You have to execute the scripts I referenced in the filesystem menu.nooby wrote:Beem take up this thing with auto mount here

For the weather widget, first install the correction 01micko made. (see my post)
Then you can find the code in the configuration of the widget by the button which will bring you to the correct page to find it.

Current SFS downloads are at http://www.lhpup.org/download500.htm#SFS. The Mobility M6 is an AGP4x card made approx. 2001/2002. Lighthouse Update (on the desktop) has ATI Catalyst 10.6, however the supported cards does not list yours, so I would try the Xorg driver: xorgwizard | ATI Cards | radeon. Then verify the Xorg driver is radeon with System | Lighthouse Video Report and edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf as suggested here. As it seems to be a very early radeon card, it may not even work with radeon, so you may have to choose ati or vesa in xorgwizard and 3D performance will be very limited.AndrewG wrote:I did not try to install ATI drivers by TazOC because I could not find them in lighthouse. Try the 'Blacklist a module' or 'Give preference to one over another' at Menu | System | BootManager.Another issue I have found is almost same to Beem's one.

Lighthouse does not have SNS. I believe it is a simplified GUI for Network Wizard. I will try to include SNS later this year when I have time to re-build LHP from a more recent Puppy base.I forgot to ask. Where in lighthouse pup is. SNS ? I cant find it.

How to turn off automount
Click File System on the Wbar launcher at top of screen. Then click on mnt. Scroll down and click on icons for Automount and Startmount. Or click Menu | Filesystem.nooby wrote:How do I turn off automount?
For the next release, I'm planning to change the default for automount to off, with option to turn it on in first run wizard. Startmount is not available at first boot, but is after shutting down and creating a save file.

Here's a small audio cd ripper named ripperX.

Thank u for reply.
The wrong download link I got from Puppy Package Manager when I click LightHouse. It directs me to:
http://www.lhpup.org/download502.htm#SFS
I have radeon driver running at the moment.
I shall try Catalyst now.
Please take a look on my black list module.
It keeps loading blacklisted driver. I still move it to the right pane.
rtl8187 has a few copies in there. Is it normal??
I can not set ndiswrapper over rtl8187 because there is no ndiswrapper on the list. How should I write it there?

The Lighthouse Base CD has JWM, IceWM, LXDE and Openbox. The Mariner ISO adds an Xfce4 SFS. The current default WM is JWM. To try another, just log out and choose from the available WMs displayed. One way to check is open a terminal and type ver. Line 7 displays Current window manager, and the startup script used to start it from a command line.nooby wrote:Am I in Jwm when I use LHP? how does one find out?
Xfce 4 Pet is available via Lighthouse Update. SFS is at http://www.lhpup.org/download500.htm#xfce

tazoc, thanks.
So one can not tell the script on the kernel like to over ride the script within? One need to change manually after booted?
Or if one could write a bash script one could make that autorun to change the jwm to one of the other? Then it is part of teh save file right?

Logging out saves the active WM to ~/Choices/windowmanager. Yes, that is in the save file. So it is remembered for next X restart or reboot. Same applies to switching WMs via the log out panel. As long as you log out, (rather than pressing Ctrl+Alt+BackSpace) your chosen WM will be saved. So you can switch at Log out as desired, and your current WM becomes the new default.nooby wrote:tazoc, thanks.

There is no boot option for WM, just pfix=nox for no Xorg, boot to command line. Then type the command from Line 7 of 'ver' in a terminal to start desired WM. ex: xwin starticewm

Thanks tazoc but it does not seem to be the JWM at fault.
pemasu's Snow Puppy does have JWM and that puppy can show 1024 x 768 as 1024 x 768 while LHP show everything as 1024 x 600 whatever I do.
Unless you have a suggestion.
I use Acer D250 which have a 16:9 screen 10" and the external screen that I want to use in 1024 x 768 is more likely the formfactor??? 4:3
So only Snow puppy and Puppeee/Fluppy don't care about such things.
Lighthouse force everything to be 1024 x 600 and if I take 800x600 then everything is too big to be usable.

5.02G automount, rox setting, 5.03 plans
Hi Béèm,Béèm wrote:5.02G automount, rox setting
I redid the settings again and for problem 2 I did a reboot.
Now the setting did stick. Don't know why it didn't stick in the first try.
The Mariner SFS setup script, (autoruns at login after the SFS loads) has a detailed setup option, if you turn it on, there is a dialog asking whether or not to use LHP defaults for ROX or keep your custom settings.
I agree, although I'm planning to disable Automount by default so it will be optional. Startmount can't run at first boot, so I will add a tip about Startmount to the Automount dialog. PupControl has a button for Startmount and I plan to add one for Automount, as well as CPU Frequency Scaling (wcpufreq).I just discovered that there is another script automount-setup. I had to un-tick the option auto-mount all at startup
Now only the previously selected sdb1 is auto-mounted.
Confusing this dual script approach. It would be more user-friendly to have all related options in one script.
I finally figured out why Wine reports two versions. When I separated the 'zWine' SFS from the main file, I didn't remove libwine.so.1.0 from /usr/lib, so that outdated lib in the main file took precedence. That will be fixed in the next release.
I'm updating the Puppy universal installer to account for the separate zWine SFS and the /isolinux dir in the LHP ISOs. LHP 5.03 will offer updated LibreOffice, Opera, bugfixes for PUPMODE 77, (multi-session CD/DVD mode) the boot error with encrypted save files, and others reported in this thread.
