These little archives tend to pop out of folder
so when using multiple savefolders, will it (not) make a mess?

Try to arrange folder icons in /root "from left to right"
using ROX "Options" then save, close the window, re-open?
Well..
Using ROX menu one can rearrange icons, then "Save current settings for this window".
Most likely.. also the reason why "Options" don't work for that matter.

Just to bump it up a little.. :wink:

Screeny misses xwd or something..

Rox bookmarks -better empty than dead links.

Green icon on rox pinboard (lower-right) that
directs to /root/my-applicatins/bin/kbmpanel2.sh ??

A little out of topic..
Interesting, how do I get the DVB-T to play with this Gnome thing? :roll:
h264 MPEG-4 AVC
with:
DVB subtitles (dvbs)
audio language preset
programme guide
channel switching across different freq
recording (live and/or sheduled from EPG)

Hello torm.

These "little archives" ? If you mean save folders, please ask someone
who uses them.

Puppy was originally designed to work with pupsave files, and they are
still the best way to get the most out of your Puppy. Save folders was a
concession to God knows who, and I always disagreed with the concept.
If you say they spill all over one another, then they do.

But pupsave files can never spill onto one another, they're inside each
their own container. So use pupsave files instead of save folders?

About your screen capture problem, the latest version (1.13) of "Take-a-
Shot" is working fine for me:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... ost#686939

About DVB-T, perhaps ask the multimedia crowd in the multimedia
section of this forum. I never used them myself.

Gnome "thing" ? You certainly could enrich your vocabulary! ;) ;)
If you mean gnome-mplayer, may I suggest you open a terminal and type

Code: Select all

man gnome-mplayer
for instructions or go to
https://code.google.com/archive/p/gnome-mplayer

Finally,
-- the "green icon" calls a script that toggles on or off the bmpanel2 which
you see (or not! It's a toggle!) across the bottom of the screen.

-- ROX-filer options have always worked for me. As I said before, you
need to hit the save button at bottom rigth of the Options panel once
you've changed your options. If you don't, well... tough!!! :twisted:

Hello everyone.

Please find attached grep-3.0, publ. 2017-02-10.

The manual is here. The announcement and a review for this version
can be found at softpedia.

I compiled it from the source available here: ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/grep
(bottom of page) for this Puduan Jessie Pup (glibc 2.19). It won't work on
Pups with lesser glibc versions. There's nothing wrong with treating your
fans to a little exclusivity, eh?! :)

This utility is presented in the traditional Puppy fashion, with exec, NLS
and DOC pet archives. You only need the exec pet to run it, but if you
want to run grep with your country's locale, you will need to download the
NLS pet as well. This pet contains 43 languages. The DOC pet contains
only the info file, the man file being included in the exec archive.

Finally, for the skeptics, grep's ChangeLog since 2009 is attached. ;)

Enjoy!

Hello again all.

Here's another exclusive for our friends: the JOE editor, v. 4.4, the latest
as of this writing. Compiled on this Puduan 6 Pup, so the same remarks
apply as for the grep-3.0 compilation described in the post above.

For those of you who may not know this great text editor, there's quite
a good article at LinuxInsider.

For more info generally about JOE:
url]http://www.ask.com/web?qsrc=1&o=0&l=dir ... archTopBox[/url]

The interest of having an editor like JOE as a tool on your Puppy system
is that it can be called both from the command line and from your WM
menu as a window (please see illustration attached).

Once you're accustomed to JOE's key combos, you can use it in both
environments quite efficiently. This way, you can even use it if you're
stuck at the initial black console and need to modify something in a script.

You can use it to compose a program in bash or several other languages,
as well as to whip up the text of an e-mail for your club members.

It's so evolved as an editor that it even has a quick "math service" line if
you need one! But please read some of the reviews mentioned above:
they'll explain JOE's features much better than I could.

Any constructive feedback about this compilation and pet archive is
welcome, of course.

Enjoy!

~~~~~~~~~~~
Various Notes --
1) The help panel shown in the illustration below is activated by typing
Cntrl-K-H, and the text features panel is activated by typing Cntrl-T.
2) The DOC archive contains a menu item that when clicked will bring up
joe's three (3) docs in your html viewer (such as dillo or links2).
3) In WM use, a small console will show up next to the main joe window.
It's meant to help you do file management or change directories easily
without disturbing your writing in joe.
4) To reassemble the 2 parts of the pet of the JOE exec attached below,
please open a terminal in your download directory and type
Code: Select all
cat xa* > joe-4.4_exec.pet
petget joe-4.4_exec.pet
Or cliick on the re-assembled pet from within a ROX-Filer panel to install it.
Hello all.
curl v. 7.53.0 out the day before yesterday, 22 Febr. 2017. So... please find
attached! Nothing but the best and most recent for our fans! :)
To reassemble the pet, open a terminal in the download directory and type
Code: Select all
cat xa*curl* > curl-7.53.0_exec.pet
To install:
Code: Select all
petget curl-7.53.0_exec.pet
The Linux From Scratch site suggests that the docs in the curl source file
be included in the build. I decided against it because it would have made
the package much heavier, AND the curl developers are already providing
an excellent reference book in pdf format called Everything Curl, which
you can download or read here: https://curl.haxx.se.
As usual, any constructive feedback is welcome.
Enjoy!
Thanks for the info ally!
Also at http://skamilinux.hu/phpBB3/viewtopic.p ... 4765#p4765
one can read:
puduan 6.0.0 (by musher0) noPAE - kernel 4.5.5 32bit (by stemsee)
I'm flattered!
So this Moksha Pup is using this Puduan 6 as a base, a 4.5.5 kernel
prepared by StemSee and jwm with enligthenment themes. (AFAICT,
since I don't know Hungarian.)
Bravo, pfeco!
Long Live Puppy, long live Puduan, long live Moksha!
Installing hungarian version of puduan, Moksha
Installing hungarian version of puduan, just to take a glance, just to taste, not to test. Released inormation received in my Google drive and Facebook.
Hungarian team makes Puppies promotion whatever the country, so we have to be grateful and at least take a glance. We could try they hungarian Puppies, native from there, but they are generally big, too big for me.
Alpha versions should remain available only for testers... :) that is not true !
222 MB kernel 4.5.5 cooked. A table !
Ally, wait a little, sometimes puppy-makers don't want to hurry, and keep their Puppy alpha under control... I leave, i will post in hungarian S-kami section. English accepted. French no. Here are the borders between Puppies in Europe.
Hello all.
I have edited my OP to reflect the new repository for this "Puduan-6 wmx" at augras' ftp
site. You can now download Puduan-6.0.0-wmx-alpha1a and its devx from:
Hi ally & all.
It was not a bad link, it was a bad permission on the iso file.
Member augras was kind enough to change it to "world" at his end.
So the problem is solved, this iso is downloadable again from somewhere
else than archive.org! ;)
You are an idiot, anikin will never be interested in Puduan/Jessie Puppy. Do not put words in my mouth.
Only a link to your topic..
Only a link to your topic..here Puppy Linux lovers don't want to run anything else than puppy. Created for speed, pupsave, and no hardrive needed.
If anikin never interested by Puppy, anikin is happy to develop in Puppy Forum
