Too fast, too fast, slow down ttuuxxx!
I checked out viewnior and then geeqie.

1. Viewnior...nothing wrong with it but seemed to be like Ristretto without the slideshow. Except...the dev does hint that he may add an exif viewer.
Six of one and half a dozen of the other.

BTW: The French for black is noir. This is nior as I found out when I tried to get it to work typing viewnoir at the command line! I think the dev is Bulgarian.

2. geeqie. Now we are talking.
Exif info, slideshow in fact seemed to do everything that GQview would do plus more. Fast easy interface on the basis that it's a lot more sophisticated. Love it but its clearly a WIP.

This was a super quick look at these two as I am very short of time now and must leave for the weekend. If I discover anything more I'll post Monday.

HTH
Cheers
Dave

This one is usually a puppy favorite due to the size and functions, This is the full version with all the locales, If it gets used, then it will be about 1/2 the size :)

ttuuxxx,

Appreciate your response to my earlier question. The problem was my 'ancient'
ethernet board. Replaced it with a newer version and all is well!

Your revived ver. 2 is very nice!!

Hi Guys I compiled the latest gimp, the background on the rulers is kind of messed up, but it works just fine, plus I compiled DBP (David's Batch Processor) and included that, you would think that would be included as default, it works great, just remember you can't go from a gif to jpg, you have to first batch from a gif to a png and then from a png to a jpg.
The Batch homepage is http://members.ozemail.com.au/~hodsond/dbp.html

Gimp Download
http://www.ttuuxxx.gposil.com/2.14X/gra ... -Batch.pet

Locales+Docs

Ps if you don't like the rulers being messy just click /View/Show Rulers and then they are removed

To use the Batch Plugin click /Filters/Batch Process

Well I spent the night reading back on the notes and trying to make some sense out of what I read, lol
Plus I spent most of the time working on pmout&MUT, basically I managed to get Pmount working from series 5, It was a bit of work, lol and also Since the Mut with the scroll bars was a hit, I rethemed it and change the fonts, So It looks like the last one, Series 5 Pmount has tabs, but not for each drive, That will have to maybe happen for the next release. Maybe tomorrow I might be able to get it all together :)

Ps is a picture of all 3 versions, the new mut, the new pmount, and the older pmount.

The buttons and files icon of the third image (pmount with tabs for each drive) are excellent - perhaps it can be used for the current pmount? Thanks, ttuuxxx.

Hi Raffy

I'll try to work that out for v6, but for v5 It will be the first 2, also I added the third one in usr/sbin/pmountbk so it could still be just renamed to pmount and it will work, really I'm just changing them for when you have 9+ partitions, no many users have that much. I don't and I'm somewhat a puppy power user. lol

Hi here's a version of fotoxx, its a older stable version, I tried to compile the latest and had errors, So i looked the errors up on the web and they were common, So I reverted to a release that compiled without the errors. I also included the exiv2 libs and the locales. Tell me if anything is missing please. :)

Just wondering anyone using xmms that tempestuous kindly provided have you tried the Equalizer? Its not working for me, I tried oss and alsa both plugins the eq just doesn't want to work??
That kind of crappy because I already downloaded some skins etc for the next release. Oh well I'll keep BMP and add the extra plugins :)

I FIXED IT !!!, pounding some toons :), Takes some resources when using it, But its 31 Bands per channel :) :) Pmusic can't touch this, lol Hey ziggy are you reading this :) lol man this sounds just excellent !! it works in 10,15,25,31 bands.
ok I'll see if I can port it to bmp, so users with low system resources can use the old eq, and people with more resources and use the way better updated one :)

ttuuxxx wrote:have you tried the Equalizer? Its not working for me
Well it appears that the equalizer which is standard with XMMS has been designed to work only with the libmpg123 plugin, and none others.
Since my XMMS package has been configured to use the libxmmsmad plugin in preference to the libmpg123 plugin, then even MP3 audio files get no equalization control in this case.
ttuuxxx wrote:I FIXED IT
I think it's worth mentioning that you didn't change the standard equalizer, but added the third-party "EQU graphical equalizer plugin" from
http://equ.sourceforge.net/
ttuuxxx wrote:Ok I tried the plugin in BMP and it didn't work
Yes, that's to be expected. Only skins are interchangeable between XMMS and BMP. Input plugins are generally incompatible.
ttuuxxx wrote:I'll see if I can port it to bmp
"Porting" is more than just copying files from one program location to another.
If you were to rewrite the EQU source code (for GTK2) it would almost certainly work with BMP. Other XMMS plugins have been ported from XMMS to BMP.

In the television post production industry, equalization is generally regarded as a repair. It's certainly used in sweetening operations, but its usage is exercised judiciously.
The EQ settings I see illustrated in the above screenshot are far from subtle! On good quality audio reproduction equipment, those EQ settings would sound awful.

There are one or two members on this forum who appear to be audio recording experts. I imagine they would use something like Jack & LADSPA for fine equalization control.

When I said "Ported" that's what I meant, I messed around with the code and tried to compile it as gtk2, But I'm not all that great with code. I might give it another shot.

And when I said I fixed it, I was looking at it like well, I didn't have a working eq, and now that I've found a plugin that works and compiles and that its way better sounding than the original one. Well I would consider that being fixed or replaced. Man you like to be technical.

As for my eq settings, I've been a audiophile for about 25yr, I had my own business as a mobile disc jockey in my early teens. I've owned Carver, Mcintosh, Nad amps, and even built a tube amp. As speakers goes I've owned, polk, paradigm, cerwin vega, sound dynamics. So when I said it sounded great, It did, It all depends on what system your playing it and what setup your listening it on.

I have made it extremely clear to where I stand On Pmusic & Pcd in the forum and on Barry's Blog, where I've went as far as to say, its 100% Crap, it brings my system down to its knees almost, The mouse gets jumpy all over the screen, the when I move windows around they drag, etc a terrible product, hard on resources and should not be included in puppy by default. I stand firm on this, always have and until its fixed always will.
As for leadership goes, last time I went for the role, it was terrible experience and something I won't be revisiting very soon, but to take over a series number, maybe

Actually my technical qualifications are limited.
But yes, I would like to see a more technically solid Puppy, and I will challenge any and all of what I see as less-than-sound additions and contributions. (Also poorly documented contributions).
And I'm doing it through positive criticism, not ill-considered sneering.

On that subject, I consciously avoid the personal mellees on this forum, but I believe rcrsn51 has made an important point.

ttuuxxx wrote:I have made it extremely clear to where I stand On Pmusic
It's not your standpoint which is the issue, it's the way you express that standpoint.
I, too, dislike pMusic. I also dislike some of Barry's technical decisions; such as the ALSA-OSS emulation modules, and the use of absvolume.
But I express my dislike as dispassionate criticism, not personal comments.
