pMusic 6.0.0
request : do not use focus.png
I have a request. : Do not use focus.png icon when a playlist is cleared by
right clicking all the songs on a playlist.
Here is picture to show what happens.
I am using focus.png as a button in my Fire-orange theme.
It can be seen magnified. in right pane of window.(not very attractive)
If possible could you not use that icon.

new themes for pmusic
I've made some significant improvements. Here are 4 themes for you to test.
You can trash the two previous themes. These are as good as I can
make them given my limited knowledge.

It is really getting polished......
May I call it Fire-brown in the themes post?
I have not worked on Pmusic lately. Other apps needed a visit. I will get back to it..... Today I am a simple Pmusic user - Windir unwax my ears.

playback of audio CD
Of course you can rename and change the themes any way you wish.

I have been playing audio CD's recently and I have been comparing the
performance of Pmusic versus pCD and I have come to the conclusion
that pCD is much better at playing an audio CD than pMusic 1.3.1.
I have been testing on puppy 4.3.1 and Lighthouse 4.43 -frugal installation
with no save file and here are the results:
I noticed a difference in how an Audio CD is played in
pMusic and pCD. With pCD the free memory in my machine stayed steady at
453 megabytes and there was little buffering done. This resulted in a pleasant
playback of the CD. By 'free memory' I mean the memory shown in tray at
bottom of computer screen.
With pMusic the free memory varied from track to track..
Here's an example
started with 453 megabytes then ...
Track 1 ---> 430 megs
Track 2 ---> 424 megs
Track 3 ---> 427 megs
Track 4 ---> 395 megs
Track 5 ---> 428 meg
Track 6 ---> 421 megs
Track 7 ---> 428 megs
Track 8 ---> 425 megs
These were short songs. If the CD contained songs that were longer ,
the results would be more dramatic I believe.
As well a lot of buffering was used between songs and this was obvious from the sound of the drive motor. It would be nice if you could get pMusic to play an Audio CD as well as pCD can.

I might do so, but be aware that the list will be narrowed down a lot. This because Pmusic _strictly_ uses only ffmpeg as backend. At this point it limits the supported streaming formats. Micksradioworld contains over 5000 stations, while Pmusic only plays around 2000 of them.chrismt wrote:I hope you will integrate RadioSure lists in the future
Thanks!

Pmusic will never play audio-CDs as easy as pCD (with todays infrastructure), but it should not keep already songs in memory. I will add this bug to todo-list (which already is rather long), but because of real-world time-consuming issues (read work), it will probably last a bit until everything is done.
Stay tuned

commercially pressed Audio CD
I spent the weekend listening to a bunch of Audio CD's , played by
pCD and pMusic and to my surprise I discovered that
there is a difference in how home burnt CD's are played and
commercially pressed CD's are played.
I didn't notice any high-speed motor sounds from playing the commercially
pressed CD's but the situation is definitely different for home burnt CD's.
Even on Shinobar's version of Lucid puppy (508 beta) which has
pmusic 1.3.1 built-in the CD player motor would jump to high speed for
about one minute when each new song started.
..... and even Audio CD's that I burnt with commercial software (Toast)
with my old Apple Macintosh displayed the same problem with pmusic1.3.1.
For people with a laptop this will drain their battery.
With pCD the motor would spin fast for only a couple of seconds for the
first song on the home burnt CD then would be silent while playing the
rest of the CD.
It's rather odd that the commercially pressed CD's didn't show this problem.
pCD is still needed to be included with Puppy linux.

new buttons
If you are developing a new application , here are some freeware buttons
that might come in handy for an interesting new interface.

Thanks for the buttons. I have updated the theme-tread with your latest themes. Sorry for taking so long.don570 wrote:If you are developing a new application , here are some freeware buttons

need help with commands in pmusic.
i need to automatically play and stop music. found crontab for that and tried using pmusic for playback. found that using "pmusic -s pause" in the command line can start and stop playback but it just plays one song and then it stops.
example:
playback should start at 10:20 and play to 10:30, then start again i 11:10 and stop at 11:20. when i type this:
20 10 * * * pmusic -s pause (starts the player)
30 10 * * * pmusic -s pause (stops the player)
10 11 * * * pmusic -s pause (starts the player)
20 11 * * * pmusic -s pause (stops the player)
it starts playing at 10:20, plays a song and stops, then at 10:30 it starts playing again plays a song and stops again. maybe its because of pause command but i didn't find start and stop.
oh and i am a noob in linux
