I have the same usb bluetooth stick as you and bluesoleil (windows) came with it.
Now that the basic support is working, I'll try the bluesoleil in wine.
But I have to wait until being back at home after 19 march.
(And find my bluesoleil CD  )
Being back I found my bluesoleil CD and installed it in wine.
The program runs and I see the 'soleil', but it gets no address.
So, altho the bluetooth adapter is working in native linux with kbluetooth, the adapter isn't seen in bluesoleil in wine.
No idea why not.

I addressed a question to the bluesoleil support and got an answer back
There was nothing in the answer who did lead to recognize the dongle in bluesoleil wine.

But i got a link for a linux implementation
It is a .deb package and I got an error trying to install.
Maybe incompatible with slax.
I used then undeb to get the code.
It is to be put in /opt.
I had to make symlinks to the bluesoleil libraries.
Something was started, but I didn't get the familiar bluesoleil interface.

I will have to see again with bluesoleil support.

Also I may try in a debian implementation like insdious.

A quick question, sorry if it's been asked and answered before...

1. how do you make slax packages work in Puppy? How do you extract them?

2. And where can you get individual SLAX packages? (the site seems to only combine into a custom ISO, not offer actual individual downloads, but maybe I'm being dumb)

(A separate thread, in the HOWTO section, with a few links and tips on getting and re-packaging SLAX stuff would be great.)

Thanks.

i download the iso, and the tool for extrac lzm already on that iso too, just rename squasfsh from slax and modified script to find squasfsh slax and ready to use.
many slax application run well from slax, but not all of them.

@ darkduck :
thks for review,

Help tell how to shutdown? Shutdown in the menu does not work and the shutdown manger will not.

It a great Puppy but help us.

This works great after you learn how to set it up. Now this is how Puppy should work.I just had to play with it a couple of hours.

Sorry to see that. KDE-Slax is one very good pup. Pri done a fantastic job. KDE 3.5.10 performs nearly flawlessly in it. Give me a while, few days maybe; i will upload the iso to a site and provide you a link. Check back.

File has been uploaded. The filename is slightly different from the original name, but it is the same iso. New link here:

Thank you very much, I really like KDE on my main computer, Kubuntu, this will be fun to play with.

I just checked, and it would appear that the original download links in the first post are now working again. There might have been some website maintenance or something, however they were definitely down the other day as Amgine mentioned. However i will leave my link up as an alternative. Always glad to help make puplets available :D

hi, i am back ;)

A lot of things on v1 will not work until you install rxvt from the package manager. Come to think of it, you cannot update the package manager in v1 because that operation requires rxvt. V1 had konsole and many puppy apps are coded to use rxvt. Pri included rxvt in v2, so i would not even bother with v1 if you have both isos. They are nearly identical, v2 just has bugs fixed. :D

hi TLM

I could only find md5 for v1. I would kike to know what the md5 is for v2.
It doesn't matter to me as I am posting from v2 now . hp manager need to have a
printer to work I hope as nothing happens when clicked on . When I loaded this it
took me back to w98 and webshots . Will continue to play with it.

thanks

It seems to be:
b481e85f2fdfb915368f6bd281567e2e
can't be 100% sure, but it's not bugging so if you're getting the same md5 it should be correct.

There is apparently another KDE Puppy but based on 5.2.8, I haven't tried it though:

Thanks mini-jaguar as that number/md5sum likewise agrees with the reading I just this moment got from my terminal upon doing an md5sum. So we either both got the exact same bad download - and the chances of that are very slim as our numbers wouldn't agree - or that's the proper md5sum for the .iso.

Again: Thanks! :) It's very greatly appreciated, especially since I plan on archiving the .iso to a DVD later on.

Cheers/Amicalement,

I use the Spanish version already all the time since her publication and it works fantastic (fast! in KDE mode... faster than Debian on the same PC!) but with the Gnome office generally used by Puppy.

I did test the KDE Office SFS package of the German issue, loaded on fly by SFS load.

It is a KDE 3.5.8 or higher and it works nice within the KDE 4 of the Spanish version  but as it is a KDE 3.5.8 it is not the real expectation of an user looking for KDE office. and, if I right remember, I did miss Kopete in the Office package.

This is unfortunate because the KDE Office 4 seems to become very interesting as well as Kopete using all Skype, webcam, and the instant translator function, and as well as Rosegarden.

divers little troubles:

- Konqueror doesn't handle completely right with the fonds (especially within the Puppy forum  !)
- Konqueror doesn't well use the Mozilla plugins or Java or both
- the menu is so that 80 % of the programs appear in the categorie «Lost and found» (it is not tragic as KDE offers 3 other methods: favorites, recently used and Computer > run command)
- dolphin always uses the trash and if you want to erase the copy of a file system for example, the trash is to smal (note: Rox doesn't start any more as directory and files manager but only parts of them used by other applications)
