Thank you Colonel !!

We dropped back to #8 today ,I think we will settle back down around 50-60 where we where before the release.....that's cool... I hope to have e17 updated soon.

Thanks for replying. #8 is still amazing for a puplet.

Unfortunately the centre's users didn't take to Enlightenment for some reason (I think one said they had a problem with the menus, text too small or something) so I had to revert it back to JWM. It's still in use though.

You might want to get that fixed!

Ha, i think it's too late for that! :D

And hey, it's nice to see also that your efforts have impressed other distro users (http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=60&p=215782)...

Macpup will be lurking around the DW rankings, waiting for your next release, when it'll bolt out of the barrier once again!

Running Live USB on Acer Aspire One ZG5

Reading your thread tonight (my time) I decided to give Macpup a whirl after viewing you tube videos. Made my Pendrive using Linux version of Unetbootin with with mtools and p7zip-full installed. This Acer I inherited from my wife after getting her a Acer 15" Dual core 4 gig,Windows 7 ,Lappy for Christmas, (early Present, she's a Windows girl). This little Netbook has XP and I sectioned off 40 gig for Easy Peasy 1 (Ubuntu 8.10) so I could try to introduce her to Linux.

I run Puppy Dingo 4 on a IBM A22. Puppy 4.31 on a IBM T23. Both full Installs. I was researching what Puppy I might want to run on this Acer Aspire One ZG5 and it5 looks like Macpup is the winner. I am giving all this detailed info in case any other Aspire One Netbook Users are looking. Wireless works out of the box after using Connection Wizard. Firefox is already asked me if I wanna update to 3.5.6. Everything running pretty sweet so far.

Downloaded your 2 pet pkg themes., Fox3extra and Next1. Using AWoodMacpup2 right now. I am having one small issue. The task bar sticks when I open Firefox. Attached Screenshot below.

Really Like this pup :) . I have installed E17 and ran it before from Cafe Linux. Not a expert with it yet though. More proficient with Icewm and Fluxbox instead.

Edit: Must be tired. Just noticed the clock to

In E17 that "task bar" is called a shelf . I have shelf 1 set to be above everything. You can change that by going to menu /settings /shelves. Then select shelf 1 and setup advanced...... Play with it till you find what works best for you. Or just resize firefox..... same for the clock , it's on shelf 2.

Thanks for that. :D Auto hide is what I will use. Now to try some hardrive carving with Gparted and see about keeping this permenent like.

Ha! They think it's the e17 that makes it fast! Loading that in Mint won't make it as fast as Macpup, but they'll soon find that out.

Sound issues after HD full install

Acer Aspire One ZG5. Full Install. MacPup Foxy 3.

Code: Select all

DESCRIPTION: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller
VENDOR: 8086 DEVICE: 27d8 KERNEL MODULE: snd-hda-intel
Above readout taken while running live USB. Sound works great running live. Last night did full install sda7.

Testing today noticed no sound in Flash Videos (worked ln live mode).
So opened /usr/share/sounds and played 2bark in Auqalung. Instead of woof woof. Woof Woof just kept looping over and over. Decided to run alsa config. After saying yes to modify /etc/modeprobe.conf and ran test sound. No change is loop sounds.

Tried testing in Gxine via BBC radio. Sound was stuttered there to.

So Blew away sda7. Modified /boot/grub/menu.lst. Booted up live pendrive to make sure I wasn't imagining that sound works live. It does. Posting this running live.

:) Just posting info. Really wanted this to work out.

All the drivers are in the zp430305.sfs put that in mnt/home like you would any other .sfs to make sure all the drivers get loaded. Try a frugal install .

Macpup 2fs?

Posted: Tue 15 Dec 2009, 13:49

Is it possible to publish the 2fs somewhere which contains all the adjustments which converts the standard puppy 430 into the Macpup?

I have a puppy 431 on a thumbdrive and I would like to have 2fses at hand to make it appear as Ubuntu (with gnome), as Mac (with enlightenment), as Windows (with icewm) and as normal puppy (with JWM).

But to do that I need a couple of different 2fses

Fox 3 as well as both versions of Opera can switch between e17 and Jwm. Adding icewm to that would not be a big deal But getting puppy to run gnome is a nightmare. KDE seems to work better with it.

Because things at work are very busy this time of year I am going to hold off on the update to e17 until after the first of the year... Just letting everybody know.
