Hello Sailor

Since I saw my name pop up here, I quickly installed your new build.
How do you still remember my little trouble from almost a year ago?!
I still have it, but not that persistent anymore.
When there is no pupsave yet, on first boot, it stops on a stand still just before X;
but just one keystroke makes it go into X.
On next boots with a pupsave, standstills are hardly noticeable.

Thanks for this new build Sailor.
I wonder if this slacko will ever come out of its standstill as RC ;-)

Sailor, I'm posting from your puppy_slacko64_6.9.9.9 r7586 with firefox
esr. I customized to my wants and needs, and made a personalized
remaster. The only problem so far is that I haven't yet got gnome mplayer
to run any time I click on one of my mp4, flv ... etc. videos. It's
"finicky" :)

I also want to get rid of the icon (or whatever it's called) at the upper right
of the screen. I'm in the habit of clicking the "x" there to close out
applications.

Nice work!

Bonjour,
Does anyone know where to find 4.4.70 32 bits kernel sources to build NVIDIA drivers sfs file using Getnvidia? (I found the 64 bits version but not the 32 bits! :? )
Thank you for your attention.

Cordialement

Take care of yourself and have a good day!

no sound, Firefox Quantum 68.7.0esr, 64bit

installed the latest Slacko64-6.9.9.9 works well. I like to use Hangout for phone calls so had to install the latest.FF-Quantum. Now I don't get youtube sound. Youtube volume is maxed out. Testing of sound on the pup setup works.

any ideas?

Thanks artsown!

It looks like 01micko added some changes/fixes recently to slacko 14.2 in woof-CE so I tried a new slacko64 build. I think opening videos is less finicky (so far) and noticed what you said as well. To get rid of the thing on the top-right (that gets in the way of the X) I changed Tray Preset in Puppy Theme Manager to minimal. :)

@gychang: The Firefox 68 ESR in this iso should work with sound on youtube, because the slackware version (also found in the ppm) is compiled with --enable-alsa. If you downloaded Firefox from the official mozilla page or somewhere else it will probably need to be run with apulse or after pulseaudio is installed for sound to work.

@Sailor Enceladus
didn't hear of you for a long time
welcome back :-)

you are right, most versions of sm and ff are compiled without alsa support.
Apulse is already included in latest Slacko builds.

@gychang
try to launch ff in a terminal by typing apulse firefox

@Sailor
Your r8060 looks good!

CNN news videos often suffer lack of sound/video sync when apulse firefox
is used, but your compilation clears up that problem.

To help avoid confusion, I copy the url for r8060 here:

https://www.mediafire.com/folder/04k8b8812ccoh/x86_64

No problems found so far.

Edit: xfreecell didn't open so I tried the games under Fun and they either
didn't open or just partially worked. Seems some other apps in the menu
are also not working

R8060 running well

G'day Sailor Enceladus,

Thank you for this very good 64Slacko Pup.

Having no problem with this Pup as-supplied, I tried one of ozsouth's newer kernels (5.3.15) and was surprised to see the difference in size for the zdrv - new kernel's much smaller than the old, 29MB vs 105MB.

I was even more surprised that it's running smoothly so far :D . I did need to add two firmware files for my wifi adapter which luckily seem not kernel-specific.

Thanks again,

David S.

Thanks for a currrent woof-ce Puppy.

2 issues:

1. I can't find any utility to setup multiple monitors, (yes I have 2).

2. Geany had difficulty in even displaying a simple text file until I un-ticked "Show Message Window" and "Show Sidebar" in the "View" menu.

Here is what I use with slacko-6999, that would like to be included by default.

Yes, it's there.
I ran it from a terminal and my 2 monitors are no longer duplicates.
Except that I still can't find it in the menu, even though '/usr/share/applications/lxrandr.desktop' exists.
