Thanks smil99, I like square logos and this light blue is my favourite color.
I will attach original svg, you see that big "a" is just copied from your logo.

Short update about next version (8.0):
- It will have kernel 3.9.6
- arch packages from 2013/06/17
- eudev git+20130609 (equivalent to systemd 204)
- folders /usr/sbin, /sbin and /usr/local removed
- firefox will return - that will make iso size bigger (between 125-130MB)

I managed to solve issue with blank screen on boot, now this version is working here without any problems, so I will upload new version's iso sometime next week.

what about a bare bone version without any browser, and user may install what he like Firefox/Chrome/Opera/SeaMonkey...

Actually, futwerk created that on his alphaOS backgrounds so all credit must go to him instead :) .
Cheers.

AbdelAziz,
you can remove firefox files, and add some other browser if you want, and compress sfs file again.
Firefox package content is here https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/i686/firefox/.

OK, I see you are right - I used svg logo from your post http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 315#704315
but original backgrounds are here http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 403#703403
I hope they are under some free license :) ... Thanks futwerk!

Hi simargi,

where can I find system.h file?

Regards Tony.

Code: Select all

[root@alphaos ~]# spkg file system.h
Package                   File
core-dev                  /usr/include/libltdl/lt_system.h
core-dev                  /usr/include/wvstreams/wvsystem.h
core-dev                  /usr/include/freetype2/freetype/ftsystem.h
freetype2                 /usr/include/freetype2/freetype/ftsystem.h
gcc                       /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.8.1/plugin/include/system.h
libbluray                 /usr/include/libbluray/filesystem.h
libltdl                   /usr/share/libtool/libltdl/libltdl/lt_system.h
libltdl                   /usr/include/libltdl/lt_system.h
nspr                      /usr/include/nspr/prsystem.h
syslinux                  /usr/lib/syslinux/com32/include/gplinclude/dmi/dmi_system.h
wvstreams                 /usr/include/wvstreams/wvsystem.h
... so it's in package gcc. Just load devel module, it should be there.
Regards.

I uploaded a mount script for spacefm to mount Vfat partition with locale settings, which is modified from origin puppy's pmount script.

HI,

OS8 still changes my clock on other pups and firewall setting link not working.

Broadcom 4313 has still not responded to blacklisting etc. Perhaps extra

firmware is needed.

I'm sticking with Arch as it's got potential, so please carry on the good work.

Regards Tony.

Hi tony,

Thanks for your comment, firewall_install.sh was checking for not existing program called dialog, but it actually uses Xdialog, so I removed those 4 lines and it now works again.

Code: Select all

[root@alphaos alphaos]# hg diff
diff -r 79bc32960550 rootfs/usr/bin/firewall_install.sh
--- a/rootfs/usr/bin/firewall_install.sh	Mon Jun 24 16:17:26 2013 +0200
+++ b/rootfs/usr/bin/firewall_install.sh	Tue Jun 25 22:11:52 2013 +0200
@@ -190,11 +190,6 @@
   esac
 }

-if (( `which dialog 2>&1 | grep -c "which: no dialog in"` )); then
- echo "Required program 'dialog' not found."
-  exit 1
-fi
-
 DIALOG_VERSION=`dialog --version 2>&1`
 if (( `echo "$DIALOG_VERSION" | grep -c "0.9b"` )); then
   DEFAULT_NO="--defaultno"
For clock problems if you made some changes in /root/.start just open that file and add
/etc/init.d/hwclock start &
as first command.

I made SFS packages from 2 pets... acpitool-0.5.1-2-i486.pet and PupShutdown-1.8.1.pet. This allows me to suspend alphaOS, but it will not wake-up? I wonder why? Is there another .pet that I can convert to an SFS to make the OS wake-up?

OR

Are there pacman packages that I can download & install to make alphaOS sleep and wake?

Any support would be appreciated. Thank you.

But seems can not find packer command in 8.0 :shock:

Sorry, I 've found it in Devel_80.sfs

Yes, devel sfs module has packer included. After you install this package run xfce4-panel in
terminal, then right click on the panel and select add new item. You will see this plugin there, so
you can replace original xfce menu.

When you get internet working, correct video drivers loaded (resolution) and audio, everything
else is easy - this package compiles in 20 seconds, and there are 40 000 more in the AUR.
