I just used the installer for a frugal install on the old P3 test box...... no problems. :)
Went ahead and did a full install too......all good.

Using Firefox, went to http://www.insideline.com and experienced crash of Classic Pup while running in livemode. Tried going to same site after startx and it duplicates problem. Thanks, Rob
P.S. Thanks for including IX Quick. I've been using it for a while on my work computer, which runs Windows XP. If you are running Windows, using Comodo Dragon browser with IX Quick is probably the best combo.
Hi do you have other puppy versions installed? did you boot up with puppy pfix=ram, has anyone else tries that site? I clicked on almost every link and it ran perfect, no crashes what so ever.
can anyone else crash their pc on http://www.insideline.com ??

Yes I could add that since its so, so small but has anyone made a gui for it yet? command line apps without gui's are a bit of a pain for most users.

Couldn't get opera 11.01 working.

Have gone back to TOP8
which opera package did you try, I really didn't change anything that should effect Opera between Top8 and Top9.
DO you have a link for the opera package you used?
Thanks

sorry, ttuuxx, I lost my reply while going between windows.

Opera 11.01-1190, unmodified, for Puppy 214

Many thanks
When I boot TOP9, there are only a few modules loaded (as compared with TOP8, which I'm using at the moment).

The "missing" modules include
8139too; so I can't access the network adapter.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks again,

Hmmm Well I made top9 while running top8 and I haven't tried top9 yet, how disturbing because that's the same module I use, So I guess its time to test top9, usually I don't have to test before releasing, but this time its a definite :)
I'll work on it and get back to you.

Here's another hard drive wipe app, I added 2 extra colours, The first colour is if you open a terminal and type nwipe the second one is if you use the menu, you'll find it under System/System Status and Config the third one will open if you open a terminal and type nwipeblue
I like the second one the most, the third one is the default blue before I hacked the sources for the first one :) and the second one is changed with the .desktop file.
enjoy

here's a quote"nwipe is a command that will securely erase disks using a variety of recognised methods. It is a fork of the dwipe command used by Darik's Boot and Nuke (dban). nwipe is included with partedmagic"

Hi Ttuuxxx, I only run testing on that machine with no save file. It is only machine I ever had that happen on, and it is only when running live with Classic Pup. I normally use Opera, and I use that site to test streaming video. I will boot it up in next day or two and verify it is still happening, and if it is, I will install Opera 11.11 and see if it occurs on it also. Thanks, Rob

I Just checked and 8139too loads perfectly, did you check the md5sum of the iso image, also check if your cdrw/cd etc what every your using isn't scratched.

Eraser (for Windows) installs the command into the context menu, so that when you right click a file you get the option to erase it. Also has a nice routine to erase unused disk space (where deleted files are usually located). Eraser is almost up to DoD standards for data destruction.

That opera package you posted the link, they renamed the pet without rebuilding pet.specs file, that will give you an error everytime, there is a extra _1 on the end of the name that needs to be deleted if that is removed the pet will install and give a few missing deps, but it runs fine the missing deps are just for kde and gstreamer which no base puppy has by default.
I'll package the latest version and see how that goes.

I did check the md5sum of the iso image, and it matched.

Re the cdrw/cd etc, I didn't use one, but will try.

All I did was (under TOP8) click the TOP9 .iso, and copied the

INITRD.GZ 1083823
PUP_214X.SFS 109420544
VMLINUZ 1751229

to the E:\TOP9\ directory

At the moment (I wish there were a definitive source on how to GRUB load foolproofly), the relevant parts of menu.lst are

I would say that is because 2.14X uses one the latest flashes and usually Barry uses an older version, If you swapped flash versions from wary to 2.14x I bet it would fix your issue, The reason I use newer flash versions is because certain flash apps demands the latest version, facebook games is one.
Substituting 'libflashplayer.so' from Wary to Classic Pup did not fix the issue. I did the substitution in usr/lib/mozilla/plugins directory, renaming the old flashplayer.

There is a spelling error in the "214X Log Out Screen". The word "Switch to Joe's Window Manager" is misspelled as "Swith".

Latest Seamonkey
http://www.smokey01.com/ttuuxxx/2.14X/S ... -2.3.3.pet

If you install the seamonkey pet above and then turn the HD <--High Definition off, the video plays fine, not choppy at all, but if you turn it on, it becomes choppy.

Agreed.
