Yeah, those eyes where caused by sitting in front of my old 21" Trinitron (CRT) for upto 18 hours a day,
but everything is OK with my new 22" widescreen LCD (much more comfortable)

Gee whiz CatDude, i reckon 22" of widescreen real estate
would be rather comfortable!
Not that 21" is anything to sneeze at, either....biggest i ever had was a Samsung 19" CRT, until someone poured something foreign in it that fried it when i turned it on!!
Those old Sony Trinitrons were good mileage though, weren't they? I still have a 10-year-old CTX 17" CRT that worked well the last time i booted my Window$ tower, a good couple of years ago now..

I have had a couple of old big crt's in my day but I'm quite happy with this little asus 16" widescreen I got brand new for $99. The price of lcd is finally coming down.

Sure is mate, in more ways than one.
Manhandling it for one = Very Comfortable
4.7 Kg as opposed to
31 Kg
and it helps my conscience knowing that it uses a lot less power
40W as opposed to
160W

I hope that you poured something foreign into that "someone".

I like to think that i got my money's worth out of it,
DELL D1626HT (paid £200, RRP supposedly £500)
had it probably around 7 years and used it quite a lot (upto 18 hours a day for the last 4 years).
The reason it had to go was the contrast & brightness were both maxed out, and i had trouble seeing some things on it.
In fact runtt21 sent me some screengrabs of a theme with with very subtle differences, which i could not see,
i copied those screengrabs to an old Thinkpad-T21 and could immediately see the difference between the two images.
It was time to say goodbye to "The Beast"
When i first fired up the new
LG FLATRON W2242S, it was like looking directly at the sun (seriously),
i had to turn the brightness down to 50% (still got it at that now).
But hey, what a difference.
This new monitor cost me £107 inc VAT (pretty reasonable i thought)

This is a review on the 19" square lcd I use for puppy, I bought it about 2yrs ago, it use it everyday, well its on 24/7
The first one lasted 1 day due to over 600 dead pixels, and the replacement has been perfect for 2yrs now, another good square one is the one I have on my wifes pc its a asus 19" square lcd, about 2yrs older and never had an issue either

@Micko, yes they do seem to be coming down somewhat, but after a quick squizz around at $au prices on CatDude's new toy, allowing for the currency difference, they still ain't down low enough yet!

Well...not quite, what i did was repossess my 17" CTX and make sure that disturbed specimen was relocated to an environment where they could no longer impinge upon my hospitality
Your Trinitron gave you good value for money, that's for sure....they were priced sky-high over here back in the day....That's an impressive difference in weight and power-consumption between the two monitor types....hello, we have a graphics tiger with a conscience
Be nice to have a new LCD for when i'm in the mood to resurrect my old Windoze beasties but can't really justify it when i'm always using either the Mac or the barking T40P...(i'm surprised it hasn't grown whiskers and a tail for me yet!!).

Here's BarryK's choice (so far) for 4.3 with text and logo added
Cheers
(Can someone test this at Hi-res? I only have up to 1200x1024, looks fine at that.)
