Installed 1.6 beta in Precise 5.7.1 retro. No hitches at all. Then added SpaceFM with plugins, acpid, acpitools, emendo etc and removed jwm, rox, inbuilt browsers, added my Tint2 panel and trimmed it all up a bit for a so far very stable and efficient openbox precise 5.7.1 at around 115Mb on the SFS.

Thanks,

Edited 10/03/2013: event_manager left in, using daily and playing with themes. BIG difference in cpu use between themes! I'm currently using Adwaita and am pleased with it overall. All in all continues to please.

Problem with pfind and openbox

Hi vicmz

I've found a problem with the use of pfind under openbox which I've reported on the pfind thread.

The problem affects both OpenboxPlus and LxPup13.10.

Cheers

OpenboxPlus 1.6.0

v1.6.0 released
- Upgrades: Openbox 3.5.0, PupShutdown 2.0 (radky), Lxpanel 0.5.10 (01micko/slacko repo).
- Additions: PupClockset 2.2 (radky), Take a Shot! 1.3 (SFR)
- Press the PrintScreen key to take an instant full screen shot for editing in mtPaint (Shinobar)
- Lxpanel system monitors: CPU, RAM.
- Default theme including icons, gtk, cursor and wallpaper. See screenshots in the first post.
- More Openbox themes and a small selection of cursor themes included in the main package.
- Menu fix to set the traditional Puppy menu for category order (Jejy69 & Peebee's work on Lxpup).
- Reload Lxpanel from Menu > Desktop > Lxpanel restart panel. Useful when you change icon themes or need to refresh the Lxpanel menu.

This package was built the traditional way. As most of you know, OpenboxPlus is a remix including many existing configurations, utilities and themes, although it does have special adaptations that are not usually seen in Openbox Puppies. I wanted to learn how to setup certain things, some of them requested by community users, but when it becomes too complex it's just not fun. So, instead of playing the developer I'll simply add fixes and themes as I find/receive them. Many thanks to all of you guys for your direct/indirect contributions, which make for a more enjoyable Openbox experience in Puppy Linux.

Note to Vicmz--

you might consider adding Bulldog finder to the package
since pfind has a bug in it.

I am still working on improvements to it

I've totally forgot to add it! Thank you Don. But I'll have to do it later, the new package should be online by tomorrow.

Done, OpenboxPlus 1.6.1 has Bulldog Finder as an alternative to Pfind. See first post.

The programmer who put together the choosepanel.sh script
was a beginner at gtkdialog --> he made blank lines with a dot.

I made a few changes, just in appearance.

To vicmz...

I noticed that the gtkdialog window is 601 dots height. Some people
with miniature netbooks complain that they can't see the bottom of
gtkdialog windows.

Like the EEEPC ---> only VGA resolution.

That is why I try to eliminate blank lines.

The newer ones are over 700 dots, but the first generation
were smaller.

Everything is gone away ! damned !
I dont do the job again. Sorry.
PS : try an old pfind (pfind 4-21). Works in Wolx.

The GTK themes change sizes a little bit. For example the Take a Shot! GUI expands with some themes. I have no experience for GUI design, so anyone who can fix it is welcome to do so.

Version for Dpup Wheezy

Posted: Fri 29 Nov 2013, 01:25
by vicmz
Smithy reported that most Openbox packages available for Puppy won't work in Dpup Wheezy, including OpenboxPlus. So I made a special version, see the first post. Note that Obconf doesn't work but there's Lxappearance to change Openbox themes, and it also works for GTK and cursor themes. Also, fixing menus doesn't fix Openbox right-click menu. Any feedback and fixes are appreciated.

Your version for Wheezy worked when I tried it in the English language.

I wish, it's as though there were no support for Openbox menu in Wheezy at all. All other Puppies are able to fix Openbox menu, I even compared them with Wheezy and there's no difference, so I'm sorry to say I haven't got a clue. The list of known bugs does warn this, and it's still valid for the latest Dpup Wheezy.

The list of known bugs also warns that Obconf doesn't work, this is because libxcb-util is missing, you can install the attached pet to get it to work.

EDIT: pet now integrated to OpenboxPlus Wheezy 1.2

ZonColor theme collection added to first page. Or click here to download:
http://yadi.sk/d/XOnXFh-EH3Lve

Note: The main gtk_theme_collection.pet from the first page contains gtk engines required for some of the ZonColor, Crunchy and Ambiance-Radiance themes. Or you can install the engines separately from the PPM in modern puppies.

See also the ZonColor website:

OpenboxPlus Wheezy 1.2 available on the first page
I finally managed to solve the fixmenus issue for OpenboxPlus Wheezy. Now fixmenus recognizes the Openbox right-click menu. Lxappearance and its dependencies have been removed. The package includes libxcb-util0 so there's no need to install it separately for Obconf to work.

OpenboxPlus 1.6.2

by vicmz
OpenboxPlus 1.6.2

- Changed theme
- Fixed icons not displaying in Lxpanel menu in Slacko 5.7
- ChoosePanel GUI polished by don570
- Wallpaper Setter 0.6.4
- Take a Shot! screen capture 1.6
- Tint2 panel themes by Tman
- Keyboard shortcuts expanded: CTRL+ALT+W=default word processor, CTRL+ALT+B=default browser, CTRL+ALT+A=default audio player, CTRL+ALT+V=default media player, CTRL+ALT+E=default text editor, CTRL+ALT+P=default paint, CTRL+ALT+K=default spreadsheet editor, CTRL+ALT+M=default email client, CTRL+ALT+S=Take a Shot! screen capture

Slacko 5.7 tray applets do not start automatically, you can put the autostart script attached to the first post at /root/Startup to solve this, but note that switching back to JWM applets in the tray will appear duplicated.
