hello zigbert

thank you for putting in the broadcom w1 wifi drivers.

i using stardust on a hp presario v3000. this laptop uses

nvidia drivers. do you know or somebody know how i can

get a pet to make the screen a little more crispy?

I agree. in a single user system, that is not the most important information. Do you know how to change this? Is there a configuration file?

Try this:

Normal Oven

Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
Place laptop in backing tray covered with either tinfoil or baking paper.
Cook for 25mins turning once.
Remove from oven and allow to cool off.
Separate screen/lid assembly from laptop body. Stir melted laptop body until smooth consistency is obtained.
Place screen on top of laptop body.
Serve and enjoy!

Microwave Oven

Place laptop in dish suitable for microwaving. Cooking instructions as above, but reduce cooking time to 3 minutes. Allow to cool for one minute before serving.

Above instructions assume an 800W Microwave oven. For other specifications adjust cooking time accordingly.

IMPORTANT NOTICE!

Above instructions apply to laptops that use Microsoft Windows only.

Not recommended for Linux laptops.

I'm dreaming of a pure off-pist ski-holiday, but I'm not really into ski-traveling. We have very good conditions here many month of year......so when we travel, - it's mostly to meet the sun.

Had planned to ski at La Clusaz on Saturday but its too cold (-23)

-24 today at Valåmoen. I had a nice (short) ride down the hill beyond my house. 40 minutes up, 3 minutes down

Well since you have a linux laptop, tronkels guidelines maybe doesn't fit for you

i must look and sound crazy to my wife, when i am

sitting in front of the computer yelling at it.

What I am talking about and DemostiX is talking about are related.

ROX-Filer takes care of both of these. Header options in ROX window and mouse menu right-click options.

To see what I mean see here :-

There is a very good description of the various options for ROX-FIler.

Adding a right-click Geany entry is fairly easy, but Rox-Right-Clicks runs an automated script addition version and gives other mouse right click options for various files. Such as Email the file as well as open with Geany , depending on file type.

If I remember correctly, Rox Right Clicks creates a HUGE number of symlinks and can only be run once?

Here in Finland we have had -20 up to -30 celcius now two weeks and enough snow. I like mostly skiing traditionally, mostly skating but classic is okay when it is cold like right now. You just cant skate cause skies dont glide.
Spent one week at December in Lapland Saariselkä where are good tracks for skiing. Probably skiing downhill in Lapland later this year when days are longer.

Have a good Stardust year.

True it does create symlinks, they are necessary for right-click menu to have all the file info.

I suppose it depends on your system as to how 'huge' this is. I examined mine and they didn't seem excessive. However this is a fresh install without other apps loaded.

Not being funny Zigbert, but just in case anyone else didn't know, right click on ROX-Filer icon in /usr/local/apps and select 'look inside' to find Manual.html

I am not interested in the complete rox-right-click package, but it would be great to right-click on a script to open it in defaulttexteditor. This is because it differs from default run-action. I am asking if someone is willing to grab this specific feature out of the rox-right-click package. It is of course possible for me to do it........but I can't do it all........I have to choose what I find most important (and most funny).

Since my focus is at tray management at the moment, I would again ask for help. This manual is not easy reading for an norwegian idiot. Damn it, - they have written it in an alien language (for what reason?).
If you would like to learn more about rox, and help Puppy development, please find out how to change the selection of rows in rox-filer. I think Rox is now a settled part of Puppy, and it would be great if we integrated more of its configuration into Stardust.

While discussing Rox configuration, I guess we should better split it. The Rox pinboard would be great to control from the control center. That would be icons-settings like snap and icon-text. Rox-filer should have its own configuration. If someone wants to build a simple gui, it would be awesome. Else it will be headed for Stardust 006 or 007.......if I feel for it

Download and burned Stardust 003 today.

It is Great!!

I like 8 virtual desktops, tried to use Puppy Control Center (pcc) to change is but it is broken. Set it to 8 manually.

Suggest dialog to change tray clock to 1-12 hours "%l:%M %p" (that is a lower case L to remove leading zero)

Is there a pet package somewhere for pcc?

I looked on the Stardust Resources link and did not find pcc.

I think you will like Stardust 004

There is yet not pcc pet. The version of pcc in 003 is hardcoded for Stardust, but the next is much more flexible, and should work in many other Puppies. It is only 1 file (/usr/sbin/pcc), so it should be easy to test if you want to. I will release it as its own package when things has settled.

I'm finding that mtPaint (in Stardust) doesn't allow me
to save the image to a file!

Not much use then, is it?

Say I take a snapshot of the Seamonkey screen. It throws
me into mtPaint with the image loaded, and I try to save
it to a file, but it fails to. There is no confirmation that it
has succeeded, nor is there a message that it's unable to.

Only when I try to exit mtPaint does it point out that the
changes have not been saved. Try as I might, I cannot
get that image saved.

In an unthreaded post here I wrote of the failure of Stardust to automatically
detect my laptop´s modem. It might be of interest to others thinking
of installing a derivative of puppy linux.

And in which way exactly do you "try to save it to a file"? Does selecting "File->Save" from the menu do nothing at all on your system, or what?
