Pwidgets displays the version number, and a kernel widget would be easy to make ... but you have the overhead of conky, which not everyone likes or wants.
Is there another way besides conky to print to the screen?
(oh, pg, can you fix the poll, I foobarred it when editing
)
Sorry, nothing I can do. As far as I can see the only way to fix it would be by getting down and dirty in the MySQL database itself, but John Murga is the only one with access to that.
hey

It is simply a useful item on the screen. Personally I do not have a preference for where it is located...on the main menu button - "start button" is fine even in transparent numbers. Or near the time, or???

Yes Its pretty good, I've done a few on adobe cs2 and gimp also some time back, and I think there is a compression for gif animated images, I forget the programs name right now, but animated Gif are handy, In the future a few things I'll be bringing to puppy will have them built in
Just a few ideas I have, when I get some spare time, anyways thats a great banner and should be used in the wiki

Flying PUPPY

Looks like flying puppy is about twice the size of the png file...so not all that bad... however the textured jpg I sent up was only 18K or one fifth....so bet some room for reduction...
NEAT.. though about an animated version... very good.

I took that as a subtle hint
, and had a go at reducing the size a bit.
This one was reduced to 32bit colour (the original was 256)
and used the "Floyd-Steinberg (reduced color bleeding)" Color dithering mode,
it is now down to 84k (but in my opinion, at the sake of image quality).
I don't know much about this compression business,
so if anyone can inform me of a better way to go about it, it really would be appreciated.

P.S As you know, keeping the size of images down is not really my cup of tea (or coffee)
P.P.S @
russoodle, just one of each mate

Even the bigger image will work in Puppy Linux websites, but perhaps some language change will help, like
Puppy Linux
My Small
Super-Fast OS
Thanks, Catdude.
