To see a list of which commands/programs are installed:
1. Run a terminal window.
2. Hit "Tab" twice and answer "yes" [y] to see a list of command programs installed.
Hit "Enter" [or hold down] to see more of the list.
Type clear [[Enter] to clear the display.
OR...
3. Type the 1st few characters of the command [md for md5sum] and hit [Tab] twice to see all commands beginning with those characters.
If md5sum is listed, then it is installed.
4. What I do to use md5sum is:
(a) Install X File Explorer [Xfe].
See post #24 at my Puppy Linux thread at the PC-Guide forums.
Read the whole thread to see all the Puppy goodies.
You might want to install verifypet.
(b) Use Xfe to navigate to the folder [perhaps a /00 folder you made to which you download files?] holding the file [PET or ISO?]
(c) Open a terminal window in that folder by clicking the terminal icon in the Xfe toolbar.
(d) Type the first few characters and hit [tab] twice to obtain a completed md5sum command entry, then type the first few characters of the filename [case is important] and hit [tab] twice to complete the filename, then hit [Enter] to have the command act upon the file of that name in that folder.
