G'day,
Maybe it's the wine going to my head, but is there a solution to the gecko problem with Windows programs that stop with this need to install the Mozilla html engine or gecko?

The program I have been trying to run under Wine is a genealogy program 'Legacy'. Legacy appears to load and install OK with the most recent Wines, but comes up with the gecko request when I try to open a family file (ie use Legacy to do something).

There is also a run time error box that follows the gecko message.

A screen image is attached.

Thanks for any help.

As far as gecko goes, at one time I thought cabextract was the fix, but I have noticed at this point for some reason, gecko works just fine on a full install, but can be temperamental on the live cd boot.

As far as legacy goes what is it? did you check it against the app database at wineHQ?

read up and see if I can find out more on this.

Thanks Wolf Pup.

Works fine in Dingo 4.1 Alpha 4 using the same /root/.wine directory as version Wine 1.1.1.

I just tried installing this .pet, but it didn't change the version number in WINE even after restarting the WM and X. Any ideas as to why?

EDIT: Ok. So what I ended up having to do was delete all of the original WINE 1.1.1 files and re-install the WINE-1.1.2.pet for it to work.

Wine-1.1.2 fixed a formatting problem getting data from Ameritrade. Previously, I was using wine-0.9.58. I installed 1.1.2 right over 0.9.58, and then reinstalled 0.9.58 and it worked. 1.1.2 didn't work by itself, but seems to have additional files that 0.9.58 needed for handling the format. There's probably a cleaner way of handling this, but if it works....(I'm using Dingo)

Has anyone had any problems with some applications not displaying the fonts but just boxes? It would be helpful if anyone could share a fix to this. I tried copying all my XP fonts into .wine/drive_c/Windows/Fonts/ to see if that would help. and nothing.

I found (and used) a wine 1.1.2.sfs
Is this derived from the same source?
In any case I can't run this wine.
It gives: Bus error.
Time savers:
Find packages in a snap and install using Puppy Package Manager (Menu).

Sorry, with all those paralel developments I mixed up.
I indeed tried the 1.1.2.pet, which gives the Bus error.
I uninstalled the 1.1.2.pet and used the 1.0.rc2.sfs

Code: Select all

# wine --version
wine-1.0-rc2
#
Have no idea where the Bus error comes from.
