That pre suffix is sure sign that PPM udpate has failed. If there is none of those, the processing of databases has not failed. I dont know what went wrong. I suppose you have restarted X for testing that something in /tmp is not interfering. Restarting X flushes /tmp content.

Not working on Fujitsu T902

Ensemble Wheezy and Raring are forbidden on my laptop.
WHen I try to boot either Wheezy or Raring, GUI appears and, after a few second, or after reboot, PC screen freezes and PC locks, not responding at CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE.
It depens (IMHO) perhaps from X11, not kernel (I tried a transplant from Precise 3.8.3.1. with Kernel 3.9.8.1 and the new system works very well).
Fujitsu T902 mounts a Intel HD4000 VGA interface.

If you tell me how can I do, i submit the file with hardware specs.

I can't try this new puplets  ...

I restarted x and still same problem. Tried launching in terminal to see if I can see what the error is but no luck in finding the command to execute this. Is there a command to run PPM from the terminal?

Ooop. It looks like there is 2 rows in file doing the same thing.
/root/.packages/PKGS_MANAGEMENT

At the end of the file there should be only one like this:
PKG_REPOS_ENABLED=' Packages-ubuntu-raring-main Packages-ubuntu-raring-multiverse Packages-ubuntu-raring-universe Packages-puppy-noarch-official '

Remove both lines and copy my above one and left one row blank after that one.
Restart ppm

If that does not help. Try Classic user interface.

In file /var/local/petget/ui_choice change the text from Ziggy to Classic, save and restart PPM.

Sounds like a plan, pemasu. So where in my directory files would I find the petget
package repo text file?

NEVER MIND....I figured it out and did what you said and now its working again. Sheesh!!!...Thank you again for all of your help pemasu. Your the best !!!

Hi,

Tried to install Gcompris and Childsplay from ubuntu packages via ppm.

Gcompris: OK
Childsplay: Doesn´t work. Simlinks missing?

Thanks,

José Pinto

josepinto. It is known problem with python-numpy and Puppies. There are missing symlinks for the dependent libs. Also....there is one missing library dependency.

Childsplay has root restriction which needs to be eliminated.

Install libatlas3-base. Then install this pet which fixes the root restriction and creates the needed libs symlinks for libatlas3.

pemasu, my question apparently got lost in the change of thread,
so I'll ask again. 398 (and 3981) have wlan0 power management OFF
by default. I wonder if the bug fix is in Frisbee or the kernel?

Your latest Raring is free of any major bugs/annoyances on my test
machine. Nice work!

Dunno about kernel. But you can check. I have that udev rule still for your rt2500pci included, lol. Personal tuning.

Remove this and reboot:
/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules

Then you see if the rt2500pci has been fixed. I believe it will have wlan powermode still ON.

Pemasu, you're right. It was your personal tuning :)

pemasu,

I tried installing Raring 3981 on a headless system, using an iso on a rewrite CD. The install succeeded with X auto-installing to the max resolution. Resizing using the startup window offered option does not work (it never has), so I ticked the restart X option. The auto-install X system does permit reset to other resolutions, but instead of restarting only X, the system wants to fully restart, shutting down and making a save-file. This can't be done with no head (HDD), which means shutdown no-save and restart bringing the auto-install of X at max resolution. Is this a newest-woof feature, or newest-woof bug?

I tried to work around by saving to disk, since my media was a rewrite CD and not closed. I assumed I could make a machine-specific remaster and so dodge around the problem. But the save-to-disk blanked my media... I'll have to re-install the iso on my Cd befoe I can try installing "nox" and installing X by qizard at the desired resolution. I assume that will work, but I wonder if it is possible to revert to, or option in, the old non-auto X, so one CD can be used to install to different headless machine?

CLAM01. I am afraid the changed xorgwizard through woof creates your problem. The fix should go through Barry Kauler and the improvement implemented to the woof. I believe there would be solution.

Meanwhile, you could try: ppower tray app, right click it > Hardware control > Screen > Change resolution and select from the availabe list.
Does that work.

Hi @CLAM01

I saw you comments on your system's issue.

On a different note, though, am I reading you correctly; are you booted and running on a Live CD system (meaning booting and running in RAM from CD)?

If so, at reboot/shutdown time, your system should be giving the option to save to the very same CD/DVD you booted from.

But, for this to work, you MUST have created your CD/DVD in multisession mode from the ISO. Both PBurn and Burn2CD will, each, provide the option to create the disc in multisession mode so that it will allow Puppy, when needed, to write your saved session. Thereby, ALL system changes during its running will be saved on the Live media disc on any subsequent reboot. Your HDD/USB is never needed in this case for anything to do with system operations.

Hope this helps
