As for the other cam, a quick check reveals that you have choosen another cam that is "difficult" undex Linux. The Wizard won't find it - but at least you can let me have the output and I can start my jouney on that one too...

the other webcam/camera is a Umax AstraPix 320S
and it does not seem to be registering as plugged in even.
We got this camera working with digicam (it could not be acessed from MUT)

Hi

Try plugging it into USB and doing

cat /proc/bus/usb/devices

Sadly if the basic USB controller does not register the device as exisiting, then we can't move forward!

Have you tried it in different USB ports?

It is a camera rather than a webcam - and I am happy with the working one.
I will install it again as the TV prog has stopped working - so it may not have taken (I am in 1.09 - is that using the right kernel? - think it is)

No it does not appear!

Try using CONTROL PANEL->USB View

see if anything shown.

I will put the utility "lsusb" on my site to download later, you can then use:

Which gives detailed list of everything on USB bus. It may be that the camera is drawing too much power from your motherboard USB ports, and connecting it by a powered hub could work?

The Wizard checks the kernel, so it must be ok! It should not have stopped working!

I have already drawn his attention to it. That does not mean it will appear right away in Puppy.

Lots happening with Puppy2 . . .

Your program does things in a way I rather like. Rather than having every and all drivers, the right one is installed and utilised and added.

So please continue refining it . . .

Me again

OK I did a fresh install after deleting all the wizards into
Puppy 1.09

It worked. Horrah!

But when I rebooted and ran xawtv got this message
from console:

Well that sounds like the boot script did not install? Did you select the option in the wizard.

You can look at the boot file:

Goodness - it looks like another bug, even though I have tested it for hours and hours, with lots of different setups! Try latest Wizard 1.07, this now checks to make sure that it has a list of modules to put into the boot script - if it doe snot then there is an internal error somewhere!

The site was updated and the latest wiz and utility are there!

It seems to be failing to register and then no driver is installed so xawtv only runs when the wizard is run first time. However on rebooting xawtv will not run because the driver has failed to register or become available . . .

Is that what is happening?

Very odd, if it works the first time through the wizard I am not sure what is going on. I see you have emailed me the full text from the Wizard! I am not sure why the check FAILS - I will look at this again - problem is difficult to test the driver as I don't have a camera to try out!! Sorry about this!!

Well the scrip tests that it has write permission at the start!
I have re-written the sectrion that does the boot script and put a lot more tests there. I have also added more detailed testing of the webcam output in general and updated the drivers. The new wizard is on my site! It had better work this time...!!!
