Technosaurus, can you do a compile of the latest WINE 1.1.16 with JACK and OpenGL support (but without ESD,LDAP and CabExtract)?

Just for running audio apps, emulators and games.

1.1.14 and the later versions have a very annoying bug:

It occurs only if the classic windows look is enabled in winecfg (windows managed by WINE) Try to move a window when the classic look is enabled and your window will go out of control, jumping rapidly across the screen until you release the mouse button.

When I tried that .pup, the installation manager did not know how to handle it. I'm puzzled. :?:

install first with Petget the "dotpup handler".
Then you can install PUPs by clicking on them in rox filer.

this is what you need to compile without esd & ldap (i don't think I compiled against any cabextract libraries - just added)

http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/dis ... EV-7.3.pet

http://puppylinux.ca/members/T/486_pet/ ... 1-i486.pet

Code: Select all

./configure --prefix=/usr --build=i486-t2-linux-gnu --x-includes=/usr/X11R7/include --x-libraries=/usr/X11R7/lib --with-x --without-esd --without-ldap --without-hal --without-gnutls --without-capi --disable-tests

make
make install
or new2dir make install (to make a pet package)

Puppy's xorg DEV and devx.sfs are missing the include files for GLU and Xcomposite - sorry I can't provide these at the moment. I was using the ones that were packaged in 4.0 from Barry's giant tarball on ibiblio - specifically the Mesa and Xcomposite packages....I don't have my puppy laptop with me right now - away on training & the wife needed it for her med school stuff - when I get back I will upload an addon pet/sfs that will allow you to compile (or maybe I should instead get Xcomposite and GLU etc.. into appropriate DEV.pet at the ibiblio repo)

in the mean time here is an alternate gpl pdf plugin for firefox for windows

Technosuarus,

I use wine 1.1.14 and like it very well.
But an e-mail client Pegasus mail, has some problems which have some solutions in 1.1.16.

Do you plan to bring out a 1.1.16.sfs?

When I see your advice on compiling, it's just Chinese for me.

Thanks for advising.

nope ... downloaded 1.1.17 just now - hopefully no regressions

I will compile with support for all packages in 1.1.14 since I have discovered that all of these "dependencies" are soft and wine will normally run without them

Awesome!

Looking forward to the 1.1.17 .PET release with JACK and OpenGL support.

When you say download the 1.1.17, do you mean the source to be compiled afterwards?

I have compiled 1.1.17 and have uploaded it to http://puppylinux.asia/members/T/ ... now pw protected by "puppy", "linux"

I tried something different this time with the sfs and put opera portable in place of iexplore... in other words /root/.wine/c_drive/Program Files/Internet Explore/iexplore.exe is actually opera-portable-personal-en-9.63.exe renamed to iexplore.exe (p.s. it also contains flash already) ... 23 MB
http://puppylinux.asia/members/T/apps_s ... 86_412.sfs

The full wine 1.1.17 sfs with dependencies (except xorg) and DEV files but without opera is also available and 20 mb

Both sfs files will be available here --> http://puppylinux.asia/members/T/

Wine Lite is 13 MB
http://puppylinux.asia/members/T/486_pe ... 7-i486.pet

Wine full is 14 MB (only needed if you plan to compile a wine exe)
http://puppylinux.asia/members/T/486_pe ... 7-i486.pet

I used the same dependencies to compile against as before and have tested against the exes that I have with no regressions (I don't use a printer or scanner so those remain untested)

Dear technosaurus,

Thanks very much for the wine 1.1.7 compile. I installed it late last night and tested. Everything works just fine in Puppy 3.01.

With kind regards,
vovchik

Hey Techno

Did you read the post about wine on this page?
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 799#285799
Do you think you could recompile it for the user 'puppyiso'? he is desperate for a version with 3d-ready, i don't know what enables 3d, but I thinking maybe you might. Anyways hope you can help him out.

The Wine Lite pet needs to be renamed prior to installation.

yeah I renamed it to distinguish from the full pet... will have to repackage & reupload it... in the meantime just rename

I tried to download the 1.1.17 wine sfs, but got a permission denied message (403 I think). I am not allowed to download, altho I filled in correctly the userid/passw.

How can I get it?

I browsed the puppylinux.ca site and in ..T/apps-sfs I found a wine-1.1.17.i486_412.sfs and could download it, but it doesn't load at boot. When I try to mount by hand I get the message mount failure.

As there is no corresponding md5.txt file, I can't verify if the download is ok. But I saw this wine 1.1.17 isn't as big as the 1.1.14. Could this 1.1.17 be incomplete on the ca web site?

That package is from page 1 of this thread 3rd response from the top by techno. Ask him for the md5 :)

I started with this post, but get
Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /members/T/apps_sfs/wine-1.1.17-i486_412.sfs on this server.
altho I give the puppy/linux access codes.

@technosaurus,
Is this wine 1.1.17 correct in size (some 11MB) and is it possible to have the md5 checksum?

@ttuuxxx,
Yes the wine-1.1.17-i486.pet link is working ok, but not the sfs.
A problem of access rights on the server?
