I experienced this a while ago...... I think it's just to choose a theme to solve it.

G'day zigbert,

The config for the CPU-bar has nothing in its text entry? Last lines are missing?

As a work-around, I copy the "TEXT" from an earlier pwidgets cpu-bar config file that includes text for both CPUs plus the RAM so my pwidget shows both my CPUs usage and also the RAM usage:

TEXT
${color0}R A M ${color5}${membar 10,110}
${color0}CPU 1 ${color3} ${cpubar cpu1 10,105}
${color0}CPU 2 ${color6} ${cpubar cpu2 10,105}

Combining CPUs and RAM usage as coloured bars seems to me a better use of display screen space than the default needle-meters that also cover some of my partition/drive icons across the bottom of the monitor.

I wonder if your download was correct. I just checked the uploaded pet, and the text entry is there.

G'day zigbert,
Thanks for checking.

Yes, on expanding (unzipping) the pwidgets-2.3.2 pet and opening the cpu_bar config file, a TEXT data line is there.

I installed pwidgets 2.3.2 to the Pup I'm running now (Full Luci 2.4.6), after deleting the old /root/.pwidgets file - made from my modified pet of an earlier pwidgets I had installed to this Pup.
I use this modified pwidgets pet for each Pup so I don't have to select every time which widgets I want displayed and it has the weather data already for my location.

But on first running the latest pwidgets, I got the unwanted cpu and ram gauge widgets (bottom centre screen) although neither gauge widget shows on the list of working widgets (widgets on desktop). But there is a "blank" used line in that list because, if I add a new widget, its entry is not on the next line but one line down, leaving this blank space. If I select this space in the 'widgets on screen' listing and click "-", the two gauges for cpu and ram disappear.

And if I now try to add the default (single-core) cpu-bar to the on-desktop widgets, there is no entry for the Text line in the config file.

So I think I need to delete more than just the /root/.pwidgets directory prior to updating my pwidgets?

I will try a fresh Frugal Pup install (no preloaded pwidgets pet or sfs) and then add pwidgets-2.3.2 and see what I get.

If no one else is having my problem with the cpu-bar widget, then obviously it's my problem (something I've done in the modified old widget pet which continues to work the way I like in all new Pups - it's only when trying to up-date pwidgets that I have a problem; of course, I can just keep using the old pwidgets but I would like to know how to use the latest version in the same way).

I'll report back.

David S.

(PS: I would like to suggest the option to have a stored "personal" config file of all the widgets I want displayed, so each new Pup is automatically widgeted my way, and for each update for pwidgets gives me the same set of displayed widgets - if that is possible.
PS2: a default or optional multi-core cpu widget would be appreciated, if also possible without too much re-writing of the basic pwidgets.)

G'day again, reporting back from above post.

Still find problems with pwidgets-2.3.2 and its CPU-bar widget on my desktop with all Pups I've tried, new & old, full or frugal.

Starting up 2.3.2 sometimes wipes the background and gives me two gauges covering the partition icons across the screen bottom.
Removing these unlisted gauges wipes the TEXT entry for the CPU-bar widget when I try to use it but I can add, via Geany, my text from my old "personalised" widget (based on 2.2.4) to get the three bars I like (2 CPU and the RAM). My petified version of 2.2.4 continues to work in just about every Pup I try so I don't really need 2.3.2.

My only issue is I cannot read any temperature info for this desktop with pwidgets or hardinfo or any other pet. Another Medion 8818 eccentricity.

clock skin keeps disappearing

#2930 Post by tubeguy »

Posted this in the 5.2 bug thread, playdayz correctly pointed me here. :)

Frugal install of 5.2, pwidgets 2.2.7 and pwidgets extras 2.2.4 on Toshiba Satellite A25-S207. Clock keeps going away, comes back if I go to the pwidgets control panel and just hit apply again. I haven't timed it but it seems like if I go away for an hour or 2 it's gone. It only happens with the lappie.

Edit: Just realized I have an old version of pwidgets and extras  , installed 2.3.2 and 2.3.0 respectively, will see what happens.

Edit 2: Gone again. Found this at the bottom of xerrs.log:

Hello

Just started using pWidgets. Is there a way to get cpu temp to show in Fahrenheit instead of Celsius? I do not find a script for it that i can edit. Thanks

Weather widget in LightHouse 502G

Weather widget in LightHouse 502G

I installed LightHouse 502G.
Now I wanted to adapt the weather for my place, Brussels.
I found that the code to enter is 27581.
I get the panel to enter that code, but the apply button isn't responding.
How can I change to my city location?

Hi Béèm

Ok, we need some maintenance of the weather scripts. I'm onto it right now.

For the record, your code is this: EUR|BE|BE003|BRUSSELS

Now this is obtained from the rss feed. There was a help page on the old wiki but that is broken so I'll do up a new wiki page and the link will need to be changed in the weather scripts. Also, accuweather has changed a little bit, finding the code used to be straight forward but now it is more difficult. I suppose they intend to challenge our coding skills!

Cheers

EDIT

I have fixed the plugin. It should now offer a splash to let you know it worked and I have also made a new wiki page available from the help button and also the WWW button now opens accuweather at the RSS page where it is (almost) easy to get your correct location code.

US users remember you only need your zip code for the location code, it is on the wikka page.

Cheers

Mick,

Got it working now.
But where did you get that code?
I have looked again and again and didn't find it.
All I found is 27581, which probably is a USA code.
I opened a ticket on their support and they weren't able to answer me.

So I'll let them know, the code should be found more easily.

Thanks,

I know now what weather it is in Brussels without looking at the window.

Bernard

P.S. Indeed the code is found now in the RSS feed when activating the button in the widget. Great.

I also made some improvements to the cpu_bar widget. For some reason it wasn't working correctly with multi core processors. :? I don't know what happened there but this version I think is ok.

Mick
Are you comfortable with the more stripped down release (default no sidebar and cluster). My argues are speed and simplicity.

Always :D

Those items have had plenty of exposure. I tend to agree that the smallest, fastest default be made available.

When I get the inclination I will update the main wikka page with some screen shots to let all users know what can be done.
