I think that is a youtube issue, not because of something in You2pup. In other words, youtube has gotten a lot stricter on preventing downloads. It was just recently that you could find a video then use www.savetube.com or www.keepvid.com and it would let you download it; that isn't the case very often anymore. 8) At least in my experience...

Oh, thanks for the heads up about YouTube. Adobe must be cooperating in that effort, since Flash 10 makes things difficult.

Hi,

any chance for making Puppy compliant with PCs having trident cyberblade video cards, for using an SVideo Out without workarounds?

Thanks

This SFS contains:
  1. 431 devx SFS constants
  2. java 1.6.0.20-i586 With my settings, one useful one being the default browser is set to "/usr/local/bin/defaultbrowser". Added the MIME for "jar" so in Rox Filer you can click on a jar and it will run. Added all the file system links to java bits from ttuuxxx's "jre1.6.0_18-1.pet"
  3. pycairo 1.4.12
  4. pygobject 2.14.1
  5. pygtk 2.12
  6. pyqt 4.4.4
  7. sip 4.7.9
The Python bindings are from PETs off the forums.

Does it contain a fixed xvesa?

No. This has nothing to do with that. It is to do with:
nubc wrote:So Java isn't built into Puppy? OK, I'll bite, where do I get the package for Java? And let me get this straight: I'm gonna install Java running Puppy as a live CD? I guess I can just hope that Java is one of the few packages in the official repo.

Bask to 4.3.2 testing

This thread seems to being hijacked a bit Perhaps because things have gone off the boil a bit.

The man command takes you to the right place in die.net, as for 430. However about 15 "find .... Is not a directory" messages appear in rxvt, which is confusing. The "...." is references to hiawatha or "releaseNNN" etc.

I was going to post the exact messages but got another oddity. While the command "ls > bug.txt" works as expected, "man ls > bug.txt" creates an empty bug.txt file and the error output still appears in rxvt.

Regarding my earlier reports of pupsave problems, there are a number of threads about this problem. For some reason the fixes have never got into the mainline. Could they be considered? On a related note, Barry has now reconsidered journaling in pupsave and has implemented the ability to choose ext2, ext3 or ext4 for pupsave.

There was a thread that dealt with that.

Yes, the thread is here:

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=49194

ttuuxx, you contributed to it, so you know about the problem. I hope that it can be fixed for 4.3.2 final?

Looks as though the May 8 deadline for a multiple release is history now. It was always going to be insanely tough for volunteer developers who need to put rice on the table.

I'm still running this as my primary system every day. I'm even beginning to like SeaMonkey.......

Hope your new job is going well and patiently awaiting the next release. :)

Moreover, I saw Abiword can now read DOCX files, which is great, but sadly enough other Office2007 softwares do not seem to be covered by other Puppy 4.3.2 enclosed programs (Gnumeric). That is a pity because most spreadsheets around are in XLSX format and OpenOffice 3.x is way too heavy for my computer. Is there anything around for fixing the problem?

Thanks again!
Haven't tried it, but looks like an online converter:

In Quirky, Gnumeric 1.8.2 can also read office 2007 files... is it the same on 4.3.2?

Reload browsers your screen a few (7-8) times if you get the current download limit exceeded. It'll still work.
Could not use browser for the life of me, this worked (eventually, counted 23 retrys):

Code: Select all

wget -t0 -c http://puppy:linux@puppylinux.ca/tpp/ttuuxxx/4.2/V3.iso

4.3.2v3.0 - first problem - video / Keyboard works prothough

Ok, downloaded and installed the v3.0 iso on a fresh part'n

Xorg works (4.3.1 didn't) but I can't see anywhere to tell it to use a slower frequency as my monitor is old and although suppose to be able to run at 68K/85hz it has a little bit of eht sqeel nowadays. I usually max it at 70hz. The Xvidtune program just says na at settings lower than 85. Any ideas anyone please?

Xvesa worked with 4.3.1 beautifully, 4.3.2 only lets me run 800x600????

Keyboard works properly though, and I love the icon changes, much more professional looking.

regards

I would hope he does....qrky does not work with my laptop video...so it's a no starter for me.

Thom

of course if the xvesa isn;t fixed with this one, then that's bad news also
