Thanks battleshooter.

Yes I wanted to turn them into zips. I am currently running in barrys dpup.

Will install big_bass's pet unpackager-dragNdrop-1-i486-slxr.pet & try it out.

Thanks for the permission & the info in general :) I had a few that were installed so workin on those at the moment & will sort out which are yours when I finish them.

Here is the icon set i was working on & finished. They fit pretty good as desktop icons as well as wbar. Screenshot of wbar coming later. Need to design a new background for wbar.

Back to the drawing board. Some of the icons looked great in wbar & some looked really bad & misplaced so will be working out the positioning & trying again.

Here is a screener of battleshooter's icon set buttonized modified for wbar.

If anyone would like them Let me know I will upload them.

They should work as normal desktop icons as well.

Thanks battleshooter :)

That set of icons was nice & uniformed icons. I recorded a script so i can do the same to any set im hoping. Going to test on a set that has more variations in size & shape see how they turn out. If they look good I will start uploading pets.

A quick question for anyone who can answer.

I have been researching how to re-package a .pet file & am not finding anything but making pets from source. So could someone point me to the info if it exists?

If there is no info for that I can just tar.gz the icon sets if anyone would be kind enough to turn them into .pet files that would be awesome.

Create a new folder, give it the same name as what you will name your pet. Create the folder structure inside this pet.

For example of folder structure: icon themes install to /usr/local/lib/X11/themes, so if you were creating an icon theme pet you'd create a folder called usr, local, lib, X11, and themes. Then you'd put themes into X11, X11 into lib, lib into local, local into usr. Your theme folder would then go into themes. Open a terminal where your first folder is and type:

Code: Select all

dir2pet foldername
dir2pet will then ask you a bunch of irrelevant questions, just press enter to each. Eventually a gui will pop up, fill in the details and that's it. It's not as complicated or long as it might seem. Key 2 steps is just make folder structure, and run dir2pet.

Thanks for the info battleshooter.

I can just repack the icon sets & dir2pet them. I believe most of them were already in the proper folder structure :)

Here is a shot of how the not buttonized icons look on wbar. Will try another idea on some of the icons that look out of position where they sit compared to the rest of the icons. Clearly seen in the pic below they do not line up like i hoped.

Hi pacer106,
Here is a little script that uses dir2pet to make .pets - to use: 1. remove the fake .gz extension 2.make the script executable 3. move to path - Then right click on a directory in rox-filer > customize menu - and symlink the script to the rox window that opens.
Then to make a .pet just right click on a directory and you will see option to makepet. 8)

As Battleshooter points out, you need to keep folder structure in .pets - you can use the mkdir command with -p flag to speed up making multiple directories at once.

Nice Stu. I keep telling myself to do something about dir2pet, but keep forgetting, thanks for sorting that out. Makes packaging that much easier :)

No luck.

Did some more testing with the icons i added a reflection to as desktop icons & they are even further out of line.

Here is the Buttonized icon set from battleshooter with the reflection added.

As you can see in the screener below the feature for mount/unmount does not look right with the reflection added.

I did make a pet & its attached. Its my first pet file lol :)

Hi Jemimah,

I really like the icon set (Crystal, p16 of this topic), but love the wallpaper with the dog & headphones. Do you know where I can find that one? I'd love to use it.

Thanks.

Hello everyone ! :D

I suggest a .pet package of the Elementary theme which can be found in the Lubuntu distribution. These icons are modern, sober, in shades of blue.

I'm not the author of this, I have 'prepared' the set for Puppy Linux.

If you are interested, the pet package is here : http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 9900a814b6

I also put 2 Screenshots for an overview, one with openbox, and other with jwm. :)

cordially,
