Have a look in:
Menu>desktop>Desktop Settings> JWM configuration - Choose a JWM theme

see if what ever theme you downloaded is in there.

@thefixer
If it was the jwm thememaker dotpet, yes a restart X server should get jwm thememaker on the menu (in desktop category as I recall) .. or you could simply do 'fixmenus' in a console and reload jwm. jwm thememaker is a fun ui for if you feel challenged manually modifying jwm themes or just want a quickie

Otherwise if it was a new theme dotpet for jwm, it should show as a choice (as per the post above) if it is a simple jwm theme (usually a file or two in /root/.jwm/themes and perhaps some optional images for a theme 'preview' on the jwmconfig ui, choose theme page).

A few dotpets (or other packages) may add fonts or backgrounds or what-have-you for a certain look - I'm partial to using x or kcompmgr and opacity tags in jwm sometimes..

hth :)

Hi Everyone,

Hijacking the thread here to see if I can learn something about JWM. I'm not actually using Puppy, but rather Arch Linux and have been messing around with lightweight WMs lately. I discovered JWM recently and LOVE the simplicity (goes along well with the Arch mantra). I've figured just about everything out, except some theming details. After doing some googling, I've found that most of the information about JWM is actually found here.

I saw Patriot's post about making enhancements to JWM to allow for things like round corners in the window borders, but never found out exactly *how* to configure that. I believe I have the correct version of JWM (2.0.1-5), but haven't found any details for giving the borders round edges in the jwmrc files. If anyone can give me some pointers or even provide a copy of an example theme in a regular tgz archive, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Ok, nevermind. I was able to hack up what I needed by installing Lupu to a thumb drive and yanking all the JWM related goods. You guys definitely have some cool stuff here. It's nice to see some new life being breathed into this awesome lightweight WM.

Keep up all the good work!

quickie greenish jwm theme and some other stuff here

rats, I forgot a 'colors' file (oh well :| )
___`110317addending___
a colors file actually does help for some odd reason (or so it seems), so in reaction to all the day's green..

meh, I should test Trio's newish themer, but old habits (almost older than testing, lol) are well-worn. And a bump of a good 'site for bgs (good in this case being simple and non-invasive, imho-such-as-'tis-afaict). direct linkage to the 190k 1600x1200 .jpg bg that inspired this theme, although the theme can certainly be used with other images (if you like, there's more imagery at http://sgeier.net/fractals/indexe.php). here's today's sample embedimg..

Here is a pet containing 4 custom Jwm themes made by me.

EDIT: The picture below is for 1 of the 4 themes in the pack. They are pretty damn nice, even if I do say so myself. Enjoy! :)

The original themes have been tweaked - Oct. 18, 2011

I heartily agree Tman! Those are some of the very best JWM themes to have graced Puppy in some time now! Truly eye-catching. Please do keep up the great work and I, for one, am looking forward to see what else you just may have in store up your sleeve. 8)

Collected a small offering of jwm themes in both archive and dotpet form (what can go wrong with jwm themes? once they're lightly checked anyhow). A few may be 'new' to some. I know lakem was a bit off the beaten path, coming as it did during the final testing of Deep Thought - by the way, it and a matching gtk theme were made especially for the Crystal Clear (?) background that p420 was released with (a nice summery look).

checked in q142 and p420-b1 (pfix=ram) .. widgets! (to tell the truth, only the nice analog clock appeals to me personally and the sweep second hand is default), tcl/tk, a real leafpad as standard, Xvesa, (mostly) handsome icons and so much more  .. only jwm v201 (but it's snappy) .. sgmixer, icewm, xpad.. the list goes on and on :) .. and p412-pupflux (tricky Steve;), this must be where I picked up my other 'bad habits' (what pinboard? dragondrop is out to lunch with the driveicons.. the Xvesa 'chainlink' texture is more pleasant than Xorg's void imo).` nice having mrxvt :) and again jwm v201 (but this pup correctly reads the 'no corners' in the themes). Good enough. and pup2-218 checks (after a sorta odd 640x480x16 start, darn fuzzy and the citruscuts rendered as aqua)

Can anyone tell me how to change the dock background color in the pic below? I have looked in the tray config file & there are no options for the dock. Also tried with 1 of the jwm theme makers & it did not have the option for changing the dock background color.

hi 666philb

No restarting x did not solve it nor did a reboot. It has me puzzled. I know it can be done but im not very linux savvy. Any help would be great :)

jwm seven

this jwm theme is very nice (like seven, i think) and make easier to control or resize the window.
there are 2 jwm: seven and clearlooks.
just install the pet and look at
menu, desktop, jwm configuration, choose a jwm theme
enjoy it
:D

edit:
i add deep blue from ubuntu, so the jwm + gtk more terrific now.

Although ttuuxxx now uses Metacity as his main Classic Pup 2.14x window manager, I've always liked his Blue-Tar JWM theme.

So I made Blue-Tripack.pet, which includes Blue-Tar and two more themes based on it.
