Aliases not working in Roxterm

Hi,

I've defined a custom prompt and some aliases in ~/.bashrc, but they're not working in Roxterm, even though I ticked the "Login shell" box under Preferences->Edit Current Profile->Command in the Roxterm menu.

Aliases are working in Urxvt though. Anyone know if I need to do something else to get Roxterm to read ~/.bashrc?

in preferences >Edit Current Profile > Command - I click on Custom Command and add bash in the text box. This picks up changes I have made to /.bashrc

hope this helps

No Blank Screen

529:

Having a problem with 'No Blank Screen', it doesn't want to work.
I'm running the 13 Iron browser.

After selection the option for 'no blank' went to a video site, after 10-minutes of watching the video, my screensaver pops up on the screen. I r/clicked and selected the settings, a small window appeared with several options but... 'It Was Frozen'. I could not close it. Trying several things, no dice, just frozen. There was something there about Adobe Flash but I don't recall what it was. Had to close the browser to exit.

I run No Blank Screen on a Dpup with Iron-12 browser and it works perfect.

szzindian, Could it be the screensaver. I use it watching DVD's and it has been working, but I don't use a screensaver,m just the screen blanking.

'Thanks playdayz' We'll give that a try!

PS: I might add... 529 overall is a very 'thought-out Puppy', I believe it would be (at the present time) one of the (if not THE) easiest for a newbie to use and enjoy, I find that most stuff just works like it should without problems!

Thanks, that did the trick!

gtkdialog

Looks like you're using an old version of gtkdialog. Latest is 297. Yours doesn't have file filters. Including svn would be helpful.

Edit: I see, it's in the devx....updated; now there's filters :)

Everything looking good !!

Note: You might update dillo as well.

pwidgets seems to want libiw.so.29 (I think there's a link in lucid-5.2.5).

Code: Select all

ln -s /lib/libiw.so.30 /usr/lib/libiw.so.29
I also wrote an on/off switch for the weather widget...I'm trying to track down the
ram issue.

edit. So far no ram issue with weather-station switched off and the correct link.

iwlagn wifi firmware update Sep 27 2011

Each new kernel upgrade brings an updated version of the Intel iwlagn wifi driver,
and it seems that newer firmware is needed with each change. Groan.

So here is the latest Intgel wifi firmware, compatible with the 2.6.37.x kernel in Luci-529 ...
and probably other recent Puppy versions with new kernels.

The complete firmware package is now quite large at 1.6 MB.

If you want to know exactly what firmware is compatible with a particlar version of the iwlagn driver,
query the driver with this command -

Code: Select all

modinfo iwlagn
Developers - esp. Larry, Mick, pemasu,
for future releases where you include this firmware as standard, you will want it as a tarball in /lib/modules/all-firmware
and I have also packaged it this way, available here -

Noticed. Seems to be quite large firmware.

Yes, that's typical of Intel.
It's a similar story with the (now defunct) Intel analog modem firmware - just ask Barry and rerwin.

Oops, I missed including the firmware for the iwl3945 driver.
Dotpet and tarball just updated. Please download again.

Finding the exact replacement plug is the other problem
Cpc.co.uk and a bunch of traders on eBay/Amazon. Get yourself one of those miniature gas-powered irons whilst your at it!
came across a gas thing with chinese writing on the packet. The man said yes its a solder. Looks like good things to have could always be used for fighting off darth vaders at a pinch too. So i says can you take it on the plane? The man balks, asks the backup, meanwhile i've departed the premises. Got a replacement plug today too. Ready for expected deterioration. Have been favouring my phone over my puppy.

These are all the same as for Lucid 5.2.8--they will work in either 3HD or 528.

Here's Firefox 7.0 for Lucid and 3HD.

There is a new Flashplayer. Three-Headed Dog Version 2 Take 2 has a program GetFlash under Internet. Flashplayer is coming so often now that it doesn't hurt to run that every week or so to stay current--running it does not use any extra memory--the new Flashplayer replaces the old one.

My next unfinished project........

I don't know who to thank, so I'll just put it out there: Thank you!!

A while ago I asked about the ENE card reader working with this Pup. I went off and played with other pups for awhile, traveled a little then downloaded 3HDv2t2. I was pleasantly amazed that when I plugged an SD card into my card reader it just worked! No drama, no fanfare, no pet required - it worked!!!

Since the v2t2 has been up since 16 Sep, it is just amazing to me that the response to my question has been so fast. I just didn't know it.

I'm just tickled to death. All I can say is, again, thank you!!!

BTW, on my plain-jane 3hdv2t2 manual-frugal USB flash drive install with nothing but Seamonkey added - all is working well so far.

xorg-high

Xorg_High will still work for everything but Nvidia cards--but even that would be worth testing.
Unfortunately, I can't get Xorg_High-1.1-Lucid to install from Puppy Package Manager or from the link in the first post. It will download, but when it tries to install it locks up Puppy Package Manager.

If I try to install from the pet package after downloading it, it never completes the install. In either case, the only way to shut down the computer is to hold the power button down for ~5 seconds; it doesn't create a save file.

Something I noticed that may be related is that when I installed Seamonkey 2.4 from Quickpet then rebooted, Seamonkey is installed & works (using now) but does not show as installed in Puppy Package manager.

Xorg_High would not install in a clean manual-frugal USB flash drive install (without Seamonkey).

Let me know what information I can provide.
