All of them .jemimah wrote:I'm working on the Fluppy kernel right now. Any driver requests?
I'm going to try the proprietary wl and RTL8192E. Anything else I should build?

Don't know if I'm up to date on this.jemimah wrote:I'm working on the Fluppy kernel right now. Any driver requests?

Does Fluppy have the bcm4312 fix; the driver put together by JRB
and Tempestuous for Lenovo s10 and others with that Broadcom
card?

Not related to wireless:jemimah wrote:That's one of the things I'm working on now.
Fluppy works fine with Xvesa on my 6 yr. old Dell 700m notebook, Intel 855gm graphics.
I can get it to start and use Xorg by using the "i915 modeset=1" fix
that Puppy 5.1 uses for the Intel graphics.
In order to reboot or power off I have to push the power button twice,
then type reboot or poweroff.
If I try exit to x or restart x I usually get black screen freeze and have
to do a hard shutdown.

Fluppy 004 has been posted. Fluppy is now in sync with Puppeee 1.0.
- Firmware loading should now work correctly (I hope)
Replaced bcm43 with wl and modified ssb module
Added RTL8192se driver
The md5sum for the iso doesn't match;jemimah wrote:Fluppy 004 has been posted. Fluppy is now in sync with Puppeee 1.0.
I changed the icons again so if you upgrade your save file and you get no icons on the desktop, just run the Icon Switcher to fix it.

I'll give it a quick burn to cdrw and see if it makes a difference.
edit;
The download was just 134mb; will try again.

Oops;
Tried to do an upgrade of my 003 full install with 004 and it didn't
work.
Didn't have anything important there; but is an 003 iso or zip still
available?
The 004 live cd could not be removed once booted up.

good luck with this jemimah
Well worth testing
It also connected to Ethernet without any fuss - is that right?
Just did it . . .
Took me about 10 minutes to run into problems
Basically I ran the gardening game and the music is still going
even after an x restart
Well OK I need the GL driver - where is that?
Lucid has just spoiled me with Quickpet . . .

The GL driver is included - if the gardening game played, the driver works. Depending on your card you may need additional proprietary drivers for better speed. These drivers haven't been built yet.Lobster wrote: good luck with this jemimah

The sound problem is not related to the GL driver but rather to something called PortAudio.
Old files are still available http://puppeee.com/files. I'm not certain downgrading will fix your installation though.rjbrewer wrote:Oops;

004 cd).
The "backwards" upgrade did allow 003 to boot again but it was
too modified by 004 to be usable. Missing rox pinboard, multiple
taskbar icons.
Not being able to remove the live 004 cd once booted is the
only thing that concerns me. Tried it on 2 laptops, 500 and 1gb
ram.

The icon selection is fabulous!

Yes; umount unmounted the cd; I can put my paper clip away.jemimah wrote:I don't have any blank CDs handy to test at the moment. You can try 'umount /dev/sr0' from the command line and see if it'll tell you anything.
The i915.modeset=1 option is working better with 004.
Reboot and Shutdown now working from mouse click.
Exit to prompt and restart x needs power button push, but that's
not a problem.
I usually only need to restart x in order to adjust flsynclient, which
gives a "float properties not available" otherwise.

Fluppy004 frugal install with acer timelinex 5820tg. Dual graphics with intel and ati. I managed to switch ati off by compiling acpi_call module. Reason is, that ati consumes almost half of the power even without using it. Battery time almost doubles.
To get battery status and acpi working I compiled the kernel again with batched ec.c module. Somehow I missed a lot of libs modules. Reduction was 59 Mb to 14 Mb One reason is that I reduced a lot modularity when I run through menuconfig.
But battery status works now. I can also get powertop info.
At least fluppy boots with the new kernel and wireless connection is ok.
Looks promising. In the future kernels 2.6.34 and above offers vga_switcheroo and the ability to switch dual graphics will be easier.
