for tahrpup i got the latest from github https://github.com/joewing/jwm (this has borders on the menu and taskbar)

there wasn't any build scripts in the downloaded tar.gz so i also got the snapshot from here http://www.joewing.net/projects/jwm/ (this has no borders but has the build scripts)

and combined them using the build scripts from the snapshot to build the latest from github

No disrespect intended to Jon who's obviously put a lot of work into this; but for newbies to software compiling, I think that needs to be simplified a lot. I'd suggest using a terminal such as urxvt which accepts copying and pasting from the clipboard, and then copying the instructions line by line onto the clipboard, and then pasting each one onto the terminal before executing each line.

Using Precise 5.6 I have just updated "my" jwm version from 976 to 1002 (via a pet made with amigo's src2pkg).

For the first time on a jwm version update some window colours have changed. So, hardly a disaster, but I wonder if this has happened to any other Forum member(s)?

I have the same results whether I first delete my jwm v 976 pet or if I install the update on top of v 976.

the jwm in tahrpup is version 976 and has a few things the newer version doesn't such as separators in the menu

Do you get the same effect if you apply the jwm update to a fesh installation that has no other saved changes?

Thank you for your interest and for your suggested test.

I am now posting from a just-made pristine Precise 5.6 and the unexpected colour changes are as before.

So that seems to suggest that Joe needs to make a correction.

Hi All, I make a theme wdz10.pet. I want a neat border but still good when I resize the window by click on the border. I set the width of windowstyle=1 in my jwmrc theme. But it's hard to resize the border. Something like cinnamon can do this, or if you know windows 10, there is small border but still easy to resize te window. Anyone here now how to solve this? I'm sorry about my very bad english. I hope you got my point.

Hi Jasper, did he acknowledge the issue you were having as being a side effect of his recent changes or did he think something else may have been causing it? And should we expect the same issue if we use that version? cheers

Joe told me
configuration change is the primary reason I decided to label the next version "2.3.0" instead of "2.2.3".

The current changes up to Joe's 1034.xz (on the way to v 2.3.0) relate to the configuration of tray and window colours and also how trays are shown/hidden.

At any time to see which (if any) version of jwm is installed.
In a console/terminal type
jwm -v

If you have installed 1034 (or even 1004) - your colour schemes may (probably will) have changed. So you could try:
(1) renaming /root/.jwm/jwmrc-theme to say, old-jwmrc-theme
(2) downloading the file below and renaming it by deleting the final three (.gz) characters
(3) then copy or move the renamed file to /root/.jwm/ to (temporarily) replace the old file.
(4) Restart X

Upon inspection of the downloaded file: the inactive tags have now been removed altogether and the active tag display is amended. My Menu of choice is basically yellow text on a black background which changes to red text on a black background when hovering. My choices are easily editable and saved.

I'll be interested in any report, and whilst of no apparent hindrance if the changes are saved /tmp/xerrs.log may show some extra lines re jwm.

Some day ago, I look at cinnamon and windows 10. The window can sticky to half of screen in left, top, bottom, or right side.
I use Ctrl + Alt + Arrow to control window.
Oh ya, I also use wmctrl to do all of that.
Feel free to edit and improve this script.
After installing this pet, restart x server.

Is there any example of jwmrc-theme of the new jwm v1040 for puppy linux? Because I think there are new color configuration and I see a <Radius>4</Radius>. thanks

Hi Recobayu,
You must have put a lot of efforts into these neat little scripts, so I don't want to spoil your sense of achievement, but I see some issues here:

1) Changing jwmrc-personal programmatically is very tricky, but you should never avoid this by replacing the user's complete configuration file with your own version. Needless to say that your pet deleted all my existing keyboard shortcuts and a lot of other stuff...
Your pet can end up in disaster for persons saving their configurations to a savefile. If they have no backup their settings are gone for good

2) You shouldn't include wmctrl in your pet. Though this is nice for users who don't have it yet, it can add a duplicate version. Even worse: If the user has already one installed, uninstalling your pet can delete the user's preexisting copy.

3) The script doesn't calculate correctly for me. I have a second tray at the top and when I try the "Right" shortcut, the window is too high and extends below the bottom border. And the resulting window is by no means "sticky" as your name stickyjwm suggests...

4) And as for editing the scripts: I wouldn't use scripts at all and would put the code directly into the <key> assignment in jwmrc-personal. The shortened code fits into one line

I suggest to use key binding winkey + ctrl as on ubuntu.
But for everyone that have problem with winkey, alt + ctrl can be used as mochimoppel did.

I just try that code (maxleft, maxright, maxtop, and maxbottom).
I think there are still problem with that. I snap window to the right screen by ctrl + win + Right arrow. Then I can't move that window by dragging in the title window. Everytime I move the window in any position of screen, it come back again into right half of my screen.
So, my stickyjwm2 still the best, I think..
If we have a problem with winkey, we can change it to alt like mochimoppel do.

Excellent! Now you know what sticky means This is the same behavior as with Maximize-x and Maximize-y. Very consistent and of course there is no "Move" option in the taskbar menu. You wouldn't expect to be able to move a fully maximized window, would you? Same here: Whatever is maximized stays maximized until you restore or minimize the window. I like it.
