ttuuxxx wrote:the only problem that it has would be when you switch from icewm>>jwm then when your in jwm and restart X server, it reverts back to icewm because its using the defaultwm from etc that was changed to fix this I might have to make 1 more script in icewm that copies a jwm defaultwm file to etc and then executes the seamless transition. hmmm that would work :) in theory, here I go again. lol who song that "Here I go again on my own" hmmm maybe whitesnake from the 80's?? song popped into my head while typing this, lol

Congrats on getting your theme into 4.2.

but sadly this means that it's likely i might not be able to use it in 3.02. just personal reasons.

well, i guess stardust is staying, because i have absolutely no graphics skills what so ever.

but either way, congrats on getting in.

I'm building a lite icewm theme right now, been on it for about 5 hrs, Almost done, Still have to make a new clock plus I have an idea/trick that I was thinking up, :?: I might try with the clock. What I'm thinking is if I use the slash and the dot which aren't being used at all, I could change them to rounded edges and give the clock an oval shape instead of a rectangle. I never seen it done before but it makes sense. I might try it before actually doing all that work.

ttuuxxx,
I reckon you have this covered but forum member trio has a good point.
If you don't have this code

Code: Select all

#xli picture viewer
WM_CLASS=xli
WM_NAME=xli
xli.layer: Desktop
xli.allWorkspaces: 1
xli.dBorder: 0
xli.dTitleBar: 0
xli.ignoreTaskBar: 1
xli.dMaximize: 0
xli.dMinimize: 0
xli.dRollup: 0
xli.dResize: 0
xli.dClose: 0
at the bottom of ~/.icewm/winoptions the slideshow looks like a mess.

Ok i have some good news and some bad news the good news I managed to give the icewm clock rounded edges, the bad news is that I wasn't able to do it with the default theme script/list that comes with the theme, I had to use the built in preferences which is bad because I substituted a slash for a graphic and a dot for a graphic. It would be ok for people who knew how to change the time on icewm code, but most wouldn't so its a no go, I'll included the 2 extra tiny images with the theme for people who can do those things. I can on the other hand give the M a rounded lip because its always either am or pm :) and would work perfect for this theme, but once again it will look like a windows start button shape, flat one side rounded at the other end. Well here's a pic of what it looked like. And yes I made the clock from scratch :)

ttuuxxx

I personally like it. And if we need a theme to go with Stardrops on 3.02CE, then a Stardrops equivalent could easily be made from it.

either way, i think that this should go quite good with 4.2.

I did try to match up the orange being used in jwm without using too much orange :) like Sigmund did but differently :) So you would get a unified feel to both Wm.

well it wasn't that easy, the time it took was about 10hrs straight, But I would be more than happy to build a new theme for 3.02ce. The thing with graphics and myself is that I don't settle, I keep trying until I think its perfect, Like the taskbar background I must of made altered 50+ images before I was happy, and the orange was just the same. The easiest by far was the clock, that only took about 20 mins, because I already made the default orange, I just had to resize each number and highlight each one with a yellow glow.

I meant that i could easily convert the colour scheme. It looked like you spent a good amount of time making it. And i agree, that on many i try until i get perfection, for reasons some people know.

i could probably create a re-colour of it in less than a day to use or 3.02 if you thought it would work.

ttuuxxx,
Loving the new icewm theme. I tlooks great, and you are on a winner with that clock.
That code for icewm I quoted earlier is for Pwidgets-0.4 btw. You've been that busy I don't know if you knew about that.

Cheers

ok guys I asked for some suggestions on the menu button, I can't decide what or how it should look hmmmm, here's a few I made up and also I included a few blank canvases for anyone wanting to give it a shot :) I'm personally always been against start or menu as names for the button, really on just about every operating system that has a taskbar, the button is in the same location, and i actually feel that the people who create themes for taskbars think that the users are uneducated or plain stupid not know what the button is for, really the taskbar button has been around for 20yrs+ can't we get away from "start" or "menu" anyways here the images, have fun :)
ttuuxxx
I actually included a few Menu ones just for the die-hards.

PS I'm off to Sydney Opera House / Sydney Bridge for the Biggest New Years eve Fireworks ever, So I'll probably won't be back on until tomorrow :) Hope I get on tv,lol Most people will be able to watch the fireworks from around the world which is cool.
Cheers and Happy New Years !!!!

PSS updated the screenshot above with one of the bottons now on it, :)

Ok guys here's my latest theme, I recoloured the close button to match but I like the red ones better so I included 2 extra images the original red ones and also 1 extra button, so the size can be reduce a couple of kb after, anyways just extract into your theme folder, like usr/share/icewm/themes
enjoy
ttuuxxx

Ps only one thing I have to make for it now, a orange type desktop icon for the taskbar :)
But i'll do that tomorrow :)

"software" That seems a little redundant. But I do like the theme, and the buttons that say "puppy".

Ok guys here's the latest icewm with, the Jwm restart with icewm, The new theme, Hope WhoDo likes it :) and the pwidgets fix for icewm.
things left to do
-make a new desktop icon for the taskbar
- figure out how to the seamless switch works for icewm so that I can use it for Jwm and also use it to copy a file for Jwm
ttuuxxx

Ps I might remove the jwm to icewm from the package and make it a separate package for 3 reasons.
- Its a JWM problem not Icewm
- to keep this version of icewm as small as possible
- easier to fix/update the package and less complicated :)

Coming quite late to the thread.

I'd suggest more contrast in the menu. Light gray on dark gray sometimes is difficult to read. Same with the highlights.

The background colours seem OK, it's just the fonts which could have more contrast.

Because Ptray contains patched versions of fixmenus, globicons and I think some other files it is probably important the order in which this is installed with other pets when building an iso. Personally I think that Ptray would be improved if these patches could be added to the original packages rather than in Ptray. this should also lessen the risk of forking.
