Would you please direct me to the place where you got LibreOffice 3.3.3 sfs?
Thanks!
marco07, this version does not require java the 3.4sfs. version does and both of them are in the Midnight Sun Puppy or other pemasu pups thread. don't recall who posted them but have the note 3.3.3 will work without java.
Thanks! As I posted above, I already installed version 3.3.0 from FileMedia website.

Barry Kauler uploaded new patched source of 2.6.39-3 today. Barrys kernel is PAE enabled i586 optimized. It has basic structure same as in my recent kernels. Almost everything is enabled as modules. USB section has been compiled in so that boot time usb detection works better.

I downloaded that latest source. Since Barrys kernel is almost what we have been testing, there is no need for me to do anything into it.

This is first Barrys kernel with PAE enabled.

I know that Beem and his Medion does not like PAE enabled version.

There is now PAE enabled recent kernel in Barrys kernel sources repo which had usb_storage patch and newest woof supports better usb boot time recognition.

What is there for me. I am happy. Now these experimental test builds has much more solid background. I can go on with knowing that Barry has evaluated, examined, tested, and made needed fixes to the kernel and also to the woof. Init script has been updated accordingly.

Everybody can now download the latest woof, latest kernel and make the up to date Puppy build. Not bad.......

I want to remember Beem also. He is one of our trustees, even moderator ( he does not make any noise of it which I appreciate ), patient puppy user helper and now also trusted moderator for PLUG subforum. He watches our backyard, foryard and .......

So I compiled latest kernel with intel atom optimization without PAE so that he can use his troublesome Medion and can get firsthand experience of this latest kernel. There migth be Pentium M users which also suffers from PAE.

Next will be PAE enabled version, very soon also.......

Lol. Barry announced that he is going to recompile 2.6.39.3 with Pentium Pro optimization and PAE enabled. It might be that Pentium Pro is lowest supported PAE version. I dont know. I will use Intel atom optimization at future releases.
Ok, now it is becoming clearer. The PAE kernel does not work on the Edubook, which has an "i586" CPU.
Quoting from the link posted by steev:

PAE is provided by Intel Pentium Pro and above CPUs, including all later Pentium-series processors (except the 400 MHz-bus versions of the Pentium M). It is also available on other processors with similar or more advanced versions of the same architecture, such as the AMD Athlon[dubious – discuss] and later AMD processor models.

In that case, I am going to recompile the kernel again tonight, this time specify CPU architecture as Pentium Pro, that being the minimum that supports PAE.
Although, again from that link, Slackware kernel has this when updating to PAE:

HIGHMEM4G y -> n
HIGHMEM64G n -> y
LOG_BUF_SHIFT 15 -> 18
M686 y -> n
MPENTIUMIII n -> y

James C. Good news :D

I found one solution to the Libre Office 3.4.1 non working problem.
That JRE pet works ok, but Libreoffice has problems with libraries.
The fix worked for me.
I can upload my Libre office if somebody want Libre Office with finnish language pack. It could be fun. Lol.

I used 01mickos Gui download and sfs making semiautomatic pet. Really nice tool.
Straight link to download that Get_libreoffice pet which creates sfs package of Libre Office.
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... h&id=38994

I found from the net solution, which worked for me. It needs Libre Office 3.3 to fix the problem. I include 2 libs in to the package. Extract the package and place the files to the opt/libreoffice3.4/basis-link/program.
One file will be overwritten.
I found the solution:
Replace new libdeploymentmiscli.so with old libreoffice 3.3 library + one required library.

# cd /opt/libreoffice3.4/basis-link/program
# mv libdeploymentmiscli.so libdeploymentmiscli.so-old
# cp /opt/libreoffice/basis3.3/program/libcomphelp4gcc3.so /opt/libreoffice3.4/basis-link/program/

I have not found yet any bugs after these actions.

I have to blush :oops: now, but thanks for the praise.
However I still haven't accepted being a moderator in PLUG. But I post in the thread to see if it goes in a good direction and then I will make up my mind.

Maybe a PET would be better. Live media users would benefit as well.

PolarPUP continues to be stable .... and fast.

I updated the squashfstools to new package which has xz support.
http://bkhome.org/blog/?viewDetailed=02346
It needs liblzma to work. I reupload the iso with liblzma included.

Damn. It needs only missing symlink. liblzma.so.0. Well, the result is that squashfs and unsquashfs does not work. Quite crucial symlink.

I will make both fixed sfs and pet of the Libre Office 4.3.1

Polarpup-003 is now reuploading with that massive fix.
I made pet of that missing symlink. It is crucial to provide that symlink. Otherwise squashfs tools does not work. Who could have known that need before testing the new tool. Well, now there is support for xz compression in sfs files.

Now that massive Service Pack 1 has been done. And Polarpup-003 reuploaded with that fix it is time to release.....

Libre Office 3.4.1 fixed as pet and sfs:
http://www.smokey01.com/pemasu/Pets/lib ... -3.4.1.pet
http://www.smokey01.com/pemasu/Sfs/Libr ... -fixed.sfs
Java is conditionally needed for Libre Office 3.4.1:
http://www.smokey01.com/pemasu/Pets/jre-1.6u25-i586.pet
http://www.smokey01.com/pemasu/Sfs/jre-1.6u25-i586.sfs

Dave S provided this information:
If you load Libre Office Writer WITHOUT Java, it nags about six times as it loads, then crashes. Thereafter it loads just fine as does Scalc. Sbase totally needs Java though.

Now, with these additional packages ready,I am tempted to try P003. But, I am not yet going to get rid of p002 which, i have set it up nicely with LibreOffice 3.3.0 and java (both installed with .pet)and some other desired softwares, all working just fine. With stock gstreamer, LO Impress has now even its audio play back functional. This lack of audio in LO Impress has always been my only qualm with snow & ice puppies since I use a lot of slides with embeded audio.

Marco07. Nice to get feedback that you got your system up to your needs.
Gstreamer backend has benefitted at least one Puppy user.

Thanks to you for a great job.
I am now downloading p003 to try it. Although I realize that there might be not much difference except for the new kernel of course. Or, are there more?

EDIT:
I get the following error message from your download site!

I hate gFTP. Permissions are fixed now. I hope the upload is sane. Check the md5sum.

Tonight was great sundown. Momentarily everything was violet. I took the picture from our house backyards which is toward the lake. It was about 23.30 pm when I took the pic.
