Can you pm me any sample x-panasonic-RAW file, so I can see whether I have problems with Ufrawl? Or, if they're too big to pm, do you know of any samples on the net I could try?

RAW attachment via PM

Hi muggins. I tried to send a 16MB RAW file via PM. But when I clicked on the link "permitted extensions and sizes", I noted that my maximum attachments size is 0 Bytes, and that RAW is not among the allowed extension types.

I tried to submit it anyway, but nothing happened.

If you send me a gmail address (takes only a few minutes to create one) I'll e-mail you one.

PS. Don't think I've ever seen a RAW file online.Few viewers support them - I only remeber one Linux one Foto-something.Under Windows Irfanview supports panasonic Raw, but it was very slow to load. Most online photo site stick to jpg for universal compatibility.

It's OK, I found a raw sample site, (via Ufraw site) here:

http://www.rawsamples.ch/

I will download 2 samples & try using Ufraw with them, then report back.

strange - when I click on your link I get the following error message:

"Fehlermeldung:

Die Datei GeneratedItems/counter/counter_files/ip_list.txt kann nicht beschrieben werden! Wahrscheinlich sind ungen?gende Zugriffsrechte gesetzt (chmod 0666)."

Something in German about possible insufficient access rights...

Otropogo,

I set the run action, for 2 different panasonic RAW files, to ufraw "$1" ,and both opened in ufraw when clicked.

The other option is for you to use the ufraw gimp plugin. But, since on the .pet I uploaded it installs to /usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/ufraw-gimp, depending on where your gimp plug-ins folder is, you might have to either manually move, or symlink ufraw-gimp.

When I set the run action to use gimp, it seamlessly opens them with the plugin.

Hi muggins,

Although I couldn't get any of GrumpyWolfe's pets to run, I still have UFRaw-0.15-i486.pet installed and working.

I managed to get it set as the default app for RAW, so although it would be nice to try the latest version .17 from debian, I'm ok for UFRAW standalone.

I can't use it as a gimp plug-in, unfortunately, because I can't get gimp-2.68 running. Petget says it's installed, but there's not even an entry in the graphics menu. Nor will it run when I click on the /usr/bin icon.

Rawstudio, which I'd also like to play with, is also reported installed by petget, and there's a tab for it in the graphics menu. But clicking on the tab does nothing, same with clicking on the icon in /usr/bin, or in the "open with" menu for RAW.

I suspect petget itself may be part of the problem and it may go back to my upgrade to 4.3.1. But that was too long ago to remember the details. I'm not even sure whether I ended up dumping my old 2fs altogether or not. I do recall it was a real mess (though nowhere near the mess I got into with Lupu 5).

Screen trouble with Gimp

Hi all,
I downloaded Gimp via Quickpet on 5.0.1 and all seems to be working, except for a really annoying problem. When I move anything across the open work area, I get a green trail. This comes up matching the size of the brush chosen, or the last one chosen if I'm trying to use something else. See screen shot for an idea of what I mean.

I've got a full install of 5.0.1 using Xorg.

Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful.

I have had the same thing happen to me just be sure to select the move option and you will not get this. I am not sure it may be a bug. But if you have something like the move option this is not a problem. The default for the bush or pain gun in light presser so you get this. Sorry can not be of much help. I have been using Gimp for a long time and this is the first vesion I have seen it this bad.

I didn't have this problem at all using 4.2.1, but don't know what version of Gimp it was, so that may have made a difference.

It's a nuisance, so I'll be interested to know if anyone else has a similar problem.

I can tell you that I have had that problem
