rg66........

I’m not sure why, but the reworked sleep.sh file that you sent me did not fix the problem.

At this point, I want to make you aware of two things: 1) My toshiba laptop is connected to the internet via my wireless router. 2) I stumbled across a peculiar situation. When I first boot and the Quick Setup window appears (country, timezone, etc), the Suspend Function works just fine. However, immediately after I set the country, timezone, etc and hit the OK button, a window appears for me to set up the internet connection... it’s at this point that the Suspend Function no longer works. I went through the same steps 3 times to validate this is where the problem begins.

Anyway, you are definitely right, the problem has something to do with my internet connection. Therefore, you should not WASTE any more of your time trying to sort this out... especially, since it may be unique to my laptop/router and workarounds exist for me (eg, replace the sleep.sh file with the one from v2.1.1 OR use the terminal command “acpitool -s

I am using now X-precise - everything works grate, but I have one problem. I have two sound cards and I dont know how to switch to the other sound card (to be default output device). In normal precise 5.7.1 there is some tool in menu to switch sound cards. I tried to install pavucontrol from PPM (ubuntu users wrote that this is the only easy way to switch it), but it does not work after install.

I have also one other simple question - how to run xfce4-extra-panel-plugins ? I have installed it but I dont know how to run it - I was searching in /usr/bin but could not find it.

If you get the initial boot splash hit F1 and type puppy pfix=nox and run xorgwizard to see if you can get it working.

If you use grub4dos add pfix=nox to the kernel line in menu.lst and run xorgwizard, if you get your video working you can remove it.

Right click on xfce-mixer control (speaker) in panel and click properties, it should let you choose a sound card. Or, there is a Multiple sound card wizard in Control Panel > System. In hind sight it should have been in Hardware not System.

To use the extra panel plugins, right click on the panel and choose Panel > Add new items... and they will be in the list.

Thx a lot ! I was searching that "Multiple sound card wizard".
Do you know why page http://grooveshark.com/ does not work ? I was trying at default firefox and chromium 28.0.1500.71 from PPM. As I read its based on html5 so it should work. I have chromium 25 on normal precise 5.7.1 and it works.

Thank you

I tried it yesterday and it didn't work for me either, I only just tried it today and it is now working fine, http://grooveshark.com/ had to have been a fault at their end.

rg66 ,

THANKS rg66 !!

Al though i have complained about the pakage manager of puppy precise, I find myself always coming back to precise based puppy.

And i am loving xprecise more and more.

Thanks for adding the feature where i can have the choice of saving or not saving at shutdown.

It is brilliant! Among the many great features that comes with a well integrated xfce environment, this feature which allows users to choose whether to save or not to save is very much welcomed.

It saved me a lot of troubles. Once, i foolishly played around and turned off the menu for thunar then I couldn't figure out how to re activate the menu back. Luckily, at shutdown, i could choose not to save the session, I got back my menu for thunar file manager on the next boot up.

Compiz is also working ok.

Thanks again for x-precise! It is now my favourite puppy.

From terminal run the code below, That should stop screen blanking/monitor suspend

Code: Select all

xset s off -dpms
To see your current settings:

Code: Select all

xset q

To see optional settings

Code: Select all

xset
An example to have screen blanking after 10 min. (defaults setting)

Code: Select all

xset s on 600
An example to have monitor suspend after 10 min (default)

Code: Select all

xset +dpms 600 600 600

You can change theme by going to Control Panel > Desktop > Notifications. You can change text color by editing the gtkrc file in /usr/share/themes/pick a color/xfce-notify-4.0/gtkrc, line 21, fg[NORMAL] = "#000000". You could also use one as a template and create your own custom theme.

Worked Nicely.

After using most of the puppies, I really like x-precise 2.2 by rg66 very much.

But I know that my opinion will not have much impact because i have very little knowledge about linux. I am also not able to contribute any knowledge to help in development of softwares or development of the xprecise puppy.

I just know that x-precise is something that works very well for me. So, in my opinion, rg66 has done a very good work in developing xprecise 2.2. and came up with one of the BEST puppy linux ever made.

In fact, I like it more than even the great Saluki or Carolina. Don't mean to say that Saluki and Carolina are not good. I have used Saluki and Carolina and they worked very well and gave a glimpse of how puppy linux can have both performance as well as the convenient features found in modern operating system yet remain light on resources.

But for xfce puppies, my vote aat the moment goes to xprecise 2.2.

(As far as Slacko based puppy is concern, my vote is for peebee's lxpup 13.10-2c. Yes, I still keep slacko whenever I want to experience something that is close to what puppy linux used to be. But when I want something that gives am the confidence that it is ready to handle any type of challenges of modern hardware systems, psychologically, I tend to fire up a precise - based puppy - and xprecise is to me the best.)

Thanks so much rg66 for x precise 2.2! Thanks especially for making it possible for users to choose whether to save or not save when shutting down. It is a very wise thing to do and it will help us non technical users to have more confident in using puppy linux. In the past, I have damaged my save files so many times because I downloaded and installed something not suitable and when it comes to shutdown time, I can't stop puppy from saving my mismanaged session.
