ah I know...
there is no /dev/hde !

All the nodes miss.
I attach a script.
Please extract it in /usr/local/bin

Then type in a consolewindow:
addhddrivenodes

Then restart X.
Now you should see the driveicons, or at least see the drives in the drivemounter.

The script creates nodes for hde , hde1 to hde10, and hdf, hdf1 to hdf10.

Thank you MU,

Your instructions worked. All the hard drive's partions showed up on desktop, and functioned in MUTT as well. I therefore went ahead and made network set-ups and other configurations, Then when closing I wished to save the configurations to one of the vfat partitions, so I followed the instructions during shutdown. After later adding the extension file to the same location, I end with the following files on the root of the chosen vfat partition:

msy_save-muppymini.2sf (per the request I added "muppymini")
zmsy_083.sfs
msy_083.sfs
addons-EN_083.sfs

PROBLEM:
After rebooting with the minisys 008.3 CD, it does not refer to the files on the hard drive, but behaves as before, not recognizing the partitions. Perhaps I have made an error. How can get the script you kindly sent me to persist?

ok, the nodes also must be added to initrd.gz.
This just could be done, if you would have a frugal installation, booted with grub.

To boot from CD, you need an updated ISO.
I'll upload 0083f in some hours, it will include the required fix.
For those with a frugal install, here is the updated initrd.gz for 0083e:
ftp://ks301128.kimsufi.com/Muppy0083/Up ... uppy0083e/

I uploaded 008.3F

Changes:

- some general bugfixes like for Nvidia-installer

- minisys upgraded to final version

- added fluxbox, openbox, lxpanel + Desktop Environment switcher
You now can use different combinations of Windowmanagers/Panels, even Icewm without additional panel.
Note, that everything except Icewm+Muppypanel is not optimized, so you might find smaller irregularities.
This shall be enhanced in future.

- support for additional harddrives: hde1-10, hdf1-10, sdb 9-15, sdc 9-15

- added hpijs-2.8.5 (additional Hewlett-Packard printerdrivers)

- amsn upgraded to 0.97.1
This was required, because the MSN Chatprotocol changed.

- Tcl/Tk upgraded to 8.5.3
required for amsn

- Pidgin updated to 2.4.3
This was required, because ICQ changed the Chatprotocol.

- added remastermuppy, a remasterscript from Puppy 2.14R, adapted by GW, sent by tlchost.
This is untested by me, but looks great, so I added it already (not in Embryo/Server).

- the freemem display in Muppypanel no longer blocks the panel, when there are mount errors.
This happened before, when you mounted a Samba-share, but then the remote-computer disconnected.
This has a very bad effect on your system, slowing things down.
The freemem now detects this, and pops up an alert, that requests you to reboot your computer.

- the Standard was renamed to "Live".
This indicates, that it is intended only as Live-CD (or for full installation).
It now will include an empty zmsy_083.sfs, because its presence is needed to be able install to a USB-Stick.

- Muppy-Server now runs a security-wizard at startup, to set root-password and other settings.

--------------------------------------------------

008.3F is intended to be the last 008.3 version.
It is very stable now, so that we will recommend it to people, who prefer a very reliable and tested system.

In some weeks 0084 will follow, where the first releases might be less stable.
The reason is, that we upgrade all "huge" packages like Gtk2, Java, Wine, Browsers etc.
These then were not tested over a longer period, and so might contain unforeseen bugs.

Hopefully the remaster script will not get confused....

Hope so, too.
Stefan reported, that the universal installer could not install to a USB-stick, it complained about the missing zmsy. As I could not find the relevant code, I added the empty zmsy, so that the check gives a positive result.

Please share your experiences, if that works or causes new problems.

I uploaded all isos now, plus development_083.sfs and the buildsystems.

remastermuppy

Hello,

@MU

The remaster script is not from me. I'm not abble to do these things :(
It comes from Puppy 2.14 R and I've just adapted the names for the Muppy.

damn...
a small issue, but needs to be fixed...
0083f now has /etc/Muppyversion
This was set wrong in the isos :(

This file is currently not used by important scripts, but might be for an updater in the future.
However conky is displaying it, so that there shall be no more confusion, which version you currently run.
So a wrong info would create even more confusion...

I will replace the isos today with the correct versioninfo, apart from that there will be no changes.

EDIT:
all files are updated now.

On the server it is correct, so it seems that you have a broken download...
Please try to download with wget by typing in a consolewindow:
The md5sum is:
97cac6fd57eb02cb2ab1786e0cbc53a2

Noticed that in setup, the button to setup the cd/dvd drives doesn't work.

When running the remaster script, while it "sees" my two DVD drives, when I select the boot one, it can't find the files...so asks me again.

Another issue....after detecting and testing with sound card, if one activates the volume button...system reports File doesn't exist.

tlchost

I attach a PET that fixes the volume-button and the CD/DVD setup.
It adds some files for Tcl/Tk, that were not included in the new Tcl/Tk 8.5.3 I had added to be able to use the latest Amsn.

Note:
I just updated the Mini-Isos, they now include this bugfix already :!:

It also fixes a bug with the localization of the nvidia-installer in english.

If there are any other issues, please report them, so I can re-upload 0083f with the required bugfixes included.

For Jesus' sake, man, wait another hour to do that fresh upload...I'm 500 megabytes into the download of both the Live ISO and the build .tgz...on a 384kbps ADSL line...

Your implementation of Enlightenment e17 in the 008.3e version ganz wuenderschoen ist...

the Big (Live) Isos will take some hours, until they are built and re-uploaded.
Glad you like it :)
Tell me, when your download finished, so I will not replace your Iso before.

I plan to add a release-news at the big german site pro-linux.de (for the first time, that I announce Muppy there), but before I want to do that, all obvious bugs should be eliminated.

the new english iso will be online in 50 minutes.
Can you wait for it?
I then would like to rename it, so that it replaces the current one.

Go ahead. I unthinkingly destroyed both downloads (moved the folder while the downloads were still in progress). I will redo the downloads beginning in about 4 hours. (Sigh...)

ok, the english and german Live-CD and the buildsystem also are updated with the bugfix now.

I also updated the webpage with some version-upgrades, added there the links to e17 and lg3d.
The english page was updated with grammatical corrections provided by prehistoric (many tanks!)
