Yes look inside if it has some log but maybe that one get deleted then?

I would google if it is possible to do such things from outside.
I have DLink and them most likely can be reset from Admin so it would mean somebody has taken over it.

Should you maybe do a hard reset of it and start all over with another password? and then be observant if something happen again?

I have a vague memory that one can look at log or even set up log to record if others try to log in. But I know too little Just now I have no power supply so I can not test anything

They can do that already. Either you have nothing to worry about or a lot to worry about.

This is also the paranoia for beginners topic.

I can think along the lines of you have a lot to worry about.

I can also think along the lines you have nothing to worry about.

What is your preference?

Hi all

Thanks for the great useful replies
Just had a look and cant find any logs on my router at all, just going to look at the manufacturers website to see if that tells me more.

according to my isp there was no interuption on my broadband/phone line. (but they would say that LOL)

@bruce
I always run under the premise that I am being monitored, and use the internet accordingly

I thought with this being mainly to do with my paranoia this was the ideal thread to post in, as there is not a paranoid for intermediates/experts thread (yet) sorry if I got it wrong

cheers

So do I.

I'm reading today - Sarah Palin's emails are being dumped on the public? Say what?

We haven't even recovered from Congressman Anthony Weiner's stupid online behavior. Suppose he has hidden suicidal tendencies?

Do these people not know the obvious?

Guys as we know Google is taking over the world

Click on the add to Firefox option to at least ensure your browsing is

My security is collapsing
I started with wired Ethernet connection through a firewalled router.
Now Wii, net-books and Android phones are going through that router . . .

Net anonymity has to stop FaceBook says.

So how would that help those poor ladies that are stalked by their former Hubbies or some other person?
Facebook's Randi Zuckerberg: Anonymity Online 'Has To Go Away'

"I think anonymity on the Internet has to go away," ...said ... Randi Zuckerberg, Facebook's marketing director, .
Erin Andrews, an ESPN anchor who had a naked video of her posted online by a stalker, joined Zuckerberg as a panelist and addressed her struggles to have the illegally-obtained video removed from the web. She became emotional at points during the conversation and described her frustration working Google and other companies that declined to pull the video from the websites hosting it.

Andrews praised Google for its “remarkable

Great point nooby-- I've been continually aghast at the attitude towards the 4th Amendment of my Bill of Rights for some time. And these vile Dems who purport to represent the left are, amazingly, worse than Bush. Whistleblowers are an absolutely crucial function, and the corruptoids at the top are busy criminalizing real journalism, basically.

I used to hang out some on http://talk.hope.net, but then the Stalinist-type host of that radio show apparently deleted some months' worth of posts because he didn't like some opinions. And, the guy who was posting massive amounts of intense links almost daily, vanished.

Wikileaks is an example of an anonymity function, but Assange is creepy-- check out the site of this 1 guy who was a co-founder, but left WL in disgust:
http://cryptome.org

More good journalism on http://whowhatwhy.com .. and so many more...

definitely check these podcasts:

http://peterbcollins.com/feed/
(regularly featuring co-host Sibel Edmonds of the National Security Whistleblowers Coalition)

and
http://expertwitnessradio.org/site/?feed=podcast
(ex-DEA whistleblower and bestselling author Mike Levine's show)

in addition to the bunch I just posted to the now-contentious Now Playing thread:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 988#549988

before the far-Right U.S. throws the internet kill switch!

And spread the word on boycotting Facebook. Pure power-trippers-- the guy wants to control the "internet I.D. card", i.e. make Facebook login mandatory to use the web. Come to think of it, I just heard a backgrounder on Fbook:
http://spitfirelist.com/for-the-record/ ... anoptican/
which just added to my disgust which I felt when first disovering

I am not logical enough to figure it all out but tell me where I go wrong :)

1. My ISP is bound by European Union Law to keep record of everything I do for some months or years. Phone calls from which number to which number. SMS and MMS from which to which. Email from which email address to which email address.

What MAC address my computers have and what IP them gave each computer at which time and what I looked at what url I loaded and so on.

2. So anything I do to hide any of my activity would look suspicious in the eyes of the authorities. If I use another proxy or anonymity service or if I moved my computer and logged into the Library open Wifi hotspot them would get alerted that my MAC address has suddenly appeard outside their domain.

3. I would need to buy a computer that I never make use of at home and only used at open wifi spots and nothing on that computer should be related to me and my email addresses or the forums I usually attend.

Was that logical or confused thinking?

My conclusion is that only criminals have any kind of freedom them abusing law abiding citizens computers through bot nets that are too complicated to sort out due to them controlling some 10 000 to 100 000 computers at same time and having their own servers and that makes them almost beyond control? Some kind of Borg thing.

So as I get it we have no freedom at all. We are trapped in a 1984 kind of total control society .

Hi nooby,

Your anonymity on the internet is the least of your worries.
How about things like your phone calls, credit card purchases,
the books you lend from the library, the medicines you buy,
your credit record, where you eat with your family and friends?

Personally I don't give a monkey's #$% that they know that I
post on this and other forums and I may look at nude photos of women.
I'm a man so it's probably expected anyway :-)

I can't see the authorities spending time and money looking
thru logs of my internet "habits" unless of course I have something to hide in which case
I will go out and buy a laptop using cash and like you say use it only on public wifi hotspots.

Laws are made to keep the general population under control, but if you
have nefarious intentions, there are always ways round them.

I'm also willing to bet that a lot of the technology the authorities use to
spy on us is Linux/open source based.

Talk about making a rod for your own back.

Most Supercomputers run Linux
A group that keeps track of the top 500 supercomputers in the world estimates that Linux powers 60% of those machines
http://www.forbes.com/2005/03/15/cz_dl_0315linux.html

However spying is no longer required.
Some of the recent 'recreational looters' that terrorised
everyone in London (so I am told) posted pics of themselves
and their looting skills on Twitter and Facebook.

Android, which I have been using has apps that require
access to all data that I have ever used on the Internet
(maybe it just seems that way) . . .

Spying is now just data sorting . . .

I wonder if the authorities will allow this latest "remedy" from the world or work of University researchers?
I read about late last night but forgot to make a bookmark.

The bad thing was that one needed their software for to be able to get it to work.

I would not trust them will be allowed to make it available or that the ISP would be allowed to have users using it. Them would make laws that require ISP to shut it down.

Nooby even if you use quantum encryption, you will not be 'safe'
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-14505750

'Safe' is a state of mind not a state of technology.

During the recent London riots, the security services swamped the social networks with spurious messages about the latest looting locations. (day 2 and 3)

Anyway, for those of you needing a quick dose of paranoia . . . who invented the Internet? See next post for answer . . .

For your question as to who invented the internet, you have to go back to 1950!
You can find more information here.

BTW, the first crash of the internet also happened during testing.
