Actually I just tried to reboot and it rebooted pretty quickly, however now I don't have any ethernet or wifi connection (network wizard does not show any network interfaces). And also I cannot shutdown the machine. I'm posting this now from another computer.Semme wrote:Disable the saver >> restart X, then reboot. We'll know right away..

In PupScan >> PCI interfaces.. your ethernet and, or network controllers should be listed.
Copy'n paste, or run: lsmod which should show if their drivers are loaded.
For instance, my controller utilizes the b44 driver. Hence:

Ethernet. It'll look similar..
Module and, or driver's OK.
If you run: ifconfig from a shell, is eth0 listed?
Code: Select all

You can place a line like this in /etc/rc.d/rc.local:
For shutdown, let's see another of these:
How is it you disabled the screensaver?
Code: Select all
modprobe your_module
Code: Select all
cat /var/log/messages | grep -i error
Code: Select all
cat /var/log/messages | grep -i error
And now I don't have any sound and the volume control in the taskbar at bottom of screen has disappeared. Great! this is totally messing up my puppy
Searching with the alsa sound wizard does not find any supported pnp or pci cards.
I disabled the screensaver by going to tool at menu>desktop>desktopsettings>screensaver control

Well now, there's gotta be sumpthin bigger behind this than resurrecting a three year old thread.
Is this install on an ext2 file system? This alone should say: mount
I've got a usb install I can try this on but you should look too.
Also, you went from 5.28 to 5.29 at one point.. <also known as> an in place upgrade, correct?
Boot your 5.29 disk live: puppy pfix=ram and hit the install icon.
As I'm sure you can cancel at an appropriate time, does it ask if you'd like to upgrade?
I'm not positive but recall this type install keeps your current setup, replacing only system files.
If something got corrupted, and it sure sounds like it.. this may be one way to recover.
Try'n make sure you answer all questions.
