Trio,

Yes I think Puppy is for anyone. It certainly is pulling at some of the cobwebs in my memories.

One problem I have is with applications found on the various Puppy outlets. That there is generally no clear indication which PET is for which version of Puppy.

Even OpenOffice on Dokupuppy? does not most of the time say which version of Puppy it is for. Names like OpenOffice-3.1.sfs for Open Office 3.1 dosen't indicate which version Puppy it is for.

This leaves users having to guess which sometimes can result in problems.

Maybe that is something the Puppy outlets could add. And that is what version or versions of Puppy a particular application is for.

Thanks again.

Doesn't work in my upup 466.

Ah, what dosen't work in your upup 466?

I believe upup-476 is now in testing.

I copy the url, I select the directory, I give a file name and then push the button to go for it.
Nothing happens.
There isn't significant difference between 466 and 476.
If you2pup works on upup it should work on any version.

Beem,

Have no idea how upup or any other pup work. I only use 421 and 430. But you I suspect the executables became non executable. Please check from terminal:

Which youtube.sh

And post what you get. You said notjing happened, but did rxvt pop up or not?

Hi Mike,

I don't think so, reasons:

- recently youtube changed their website format, many of the downloaders (easily get from internet) won't work anymore
- its dependencies are big
- I have to change you2pup overall, maybe even better to make a new one

Thanks

Mike,

Did I misled you? I said "many" , have not test the app you proposed. We can rule out reason no 1 then? What about no 2 and 3?

2 ...the list of dependancies is above
3 .. fair enough..just thought you might be interested...and anyway I will revisit my gui for it because I should :) ...add proxy support and use xdialog instead..not as good but hey....

after a 2 restarts and a few menu reloads you2pup-1.3-1.pet was then then to be seen in the INTERNET menu. downloaded a universal.miss-tube and viewed better than any previous tube with the default download file format.
thanks trio. perhaps some defaults in folder and name sections to save some typing in those fields. agree with BK should be included in future puppies. any legality issues though?

Hi trio,

thanks for your work developing you2pup. It works well to produce mp4's but the converter fails with unsupported codec for dvd

I would like to put several clips together and burn them to a DVD for my grandson.

There is nothing on puppy to do this starting with mp4's.

Regards Tony.

Tony,

Well, I am using 430 beta and all functions works. But, it may fail if the puppy you use doesn't have the codec needed. Try puppy package manager to look for ffmpeg codec or google it.

Cheers

Hi trio !
On Acer Aspire One it connects to the URL, tries to locate the video file, and then, nothing happens.

eztuxer,

i don't think there's a problem with you2pup or the type of computer you are using matters, if it opens rxvt then it should be good, but:

1. Few youtube's URL can't be downloaded (I had one URL that can't be downloaded, dunno why, URL spesific), try other URLs, and see if they work
2. Internet connection is also a main issue

I am not in puppy right now, but you2pup uses youtube.sh as the engine ( I think it uses wget in its process), so you might also want to check your wget function and curl function

Regards

Hi trio,

This puppy thread helped regarding missing libraries :-

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=43455

ffmpeg as loaded for the pup4 package manager does not contain all required library files.

I have one dependency to go libx264.so.60

All this has been a bit of a nightmare really.

Regards Tony.

Tony,

Which pup are you using anyway? Why don't you download 430 betaw (or soon beta2) as puppy is so easy to install in minutes.

Yeah, ffmpeg is a pin in the ass if not complete, I think 4.2.1 is also not complete (in my experience)
