Here in Ontario, at 12:20 PM E.S.T it seems OK, some clicks takes a few seconds,but some were almost instantaneous.

Yup - unusually slow/laggy here in Michigan, U.S. too... was A-OK around midnight this morning. All other websites are fast as normal, here on the home wifi...

I heard on the radio just now that it's so bad that flights out of NYC had
been cancelled. Aren't there major international servers in the New York
to Boston area?

As the weather gets colder, there is often more condensation. If
there are junction boxes that are not weatherproofed or cables that are
damaged, then yes, the weather cooling off can have an effect on your
connection. Getting your ISP to do anything about it might be very
difficult as it will be an intermittent issue, and usually when its coldest or
wettest, the tech will not be there to test it.

I know that in this area, freezing rain is very bad for outside connectors
And there's nothing you can do during the storm. Warmer weather
evaporates the condensation and restores the normal size of the cable
-- and the usual speed.

On home 10mbps wifi, still slow.

Takes 20+ sec to load any forum page after clicking.

It's hot and dry here in India.

Maybe the storm is what knocked out http://git.code.sf.net/p/aufs/aufs-util completely today too.

Freezing rain weather typically hovers between 1 C and -1 C. At 1 C, it's
rain, and at -1, it's beginning to be ice. Very bad for driving, but also for
outside connectors.

At 1 C, water enters a non isolated connector, and the water expands into
ice as the weather goes down, creates pressure from inside the connector.

The weather then goes back over 0 C for a little while, the pressure is
released, and another droplet of water enters the connector. And so on,
and so forth until the weather decides to stay above or under O C.

That's a fantastic way Mother Nature has found to loosen up anything!

I noticed the forum was slow to respond this morning. It seems to have fixed itself without my having to do a thing.

I've learned that a good strategy for dealing with problems is to watch and wait. They usually sort themselves out.
