Hi BarryK, All,
The rewritten Xorgwizard and (new?) ATI driver in Precise 5.6 finally accomplished, what no other version could - I was able to force our large-screen HD TV to show full HD resolution when driven from Linux.
It has a stupid (or is it "too inteligent"?) Realtek chip inside, which over the VGA connector suggests 1360x768 as the maximum resolution, and over HDMI (conncted to a DVI port) introduces itself in such a way, that 1024x768 is the "optimum" resolution, whereas the maximum attainable on any small Linux distro I tried was 1360x768.
This puppy finally did the trick, and we can enjoy the full HD resolution, which is what I expected in the first place, having bought a 55" TV meant as a messageboard.

Hey Barry,
Loving the new Precise but just noticed one problem. Since Precise 5.5 been having a problem again where if I let my laptop sit for more than two minutes it disconnects from my wireless network and I have to reconnect it again.

So if anyone had the same problem that I discussed earlier with broadcom wifi, here's my solution.
With help from peebee I checked my correct driver from the 3 choices

I saw the one Precise chose for me was wrong (wl), so I went to menu>>system>>bootmanager and 'blacklisted' it. I rebooted and connected via frisbee, voila!

Thanks for that reminder of how to do blacklisting. Couldn't find the earlier thread anywhere. This (and other) Forum needs an
index, ie not just

OK this seems as good a place as any to ask for help.
My broadcom driver is :

I'm using lupu_525 on a full hard disk install.
Have been doing so for a while wtth no problems, when I set it up I installed the broadcom-5.10.27.14-k2.6.25.16.pet as I did with all previous puppies and all was fine.
Today I tried running precise 5.5 on a live CD and the weird thing is that it
sees my neighbours' wi-fi networks but not my own! No clue atall.
Some neighbours are using WPA2, just like me.
When I go back to my full install, everything is fine again.
Can anyone suggest why this might be and what I need to install/uninstall?
EDIT: I scanned this thread and installed the closest pet I could find (Precise 5.2 version) but I get an error message "incorrect kernel for this data".
