I removed the older transmission from above, after some testing it was found to be very unstable.

Since my main Linux box is now old I guess, thought I'd try 120 in something with a newer Nvidia card. :)
Live pfix=ram in my Windows 7/PCLOS box. Everything working on initial boot.

ttuuxxx, you could try the latest 1.x - I remember they were smaller than the 2.x versions and had no dependency on libevent, which is highly integrated into the sources now.

Wow look at the size of the QT compile folder, massive

and Iguleder I'm trying different 1 series transmissions

Hi Iguleder
well I checked as you requested
Transmission 1.93 632kb bin
Transmission 2.22 678kb bin
Transmission 1.20 467kb bin <-- winner needs testing guys :)
worked for me

Don't forget this:
libevent-1.4.14a|libevent|1.4.14a|1sl|BuildingBlock|380K|libraries/libevent/1.4.14a|libevent-1.4.14a-i486-1sl.txz|+glibc-solibs,+python|when a specific event occurs on a file descriptor or|slackware|13.1|slacky|
Transmission 1.x is much smaller if you also count this one :)

EDIT: cool stuff, DeaDBeeF now has a built-in converter in 0.5, if the final comes before 5.3 we should ditch FFConvert and Pmusic in favor of it.

Ok, we can probably have the older transmission, Transmission-2.22 is a salix package and in the repo anyway. May just be able to rename the package transmission1-1.20 or something.

Still banging my head on this stupid fr/azerty/sk/qwertz keyboard bug. This is a real problem, that I can't find how to fix. It has something to do how the newer xorg (xkb) reads the keymap.. or well not reading as the case is :(

I'll try to hack it to remove the web interface, the daemon and all the things we don't need. This one seems promising.

Wish me luck!

EDIT: micko, try to revert xkeyboard-config.

Meet our new friend

I was pretty goddamn sure it has the web interface, but it doesn't. I built it with some tweaks.

It was built without crappy dbus support in a very dirty way, I set the minimum supported dbus version to 99.99.99

Code: Select all

transmission-1.20|transmission|1.20||Internet|388K||transmission-1.20.pet||Transmission BitTorrent client|slackware|13.1||

Ok.. I'm on to this stinking keyboard bug.

The rules are changed. They are in /etc/X11/xkb/rules/base.lst

Dejan in particular (I haven't worked out fr/azerty yet Tasgarth) If you are around can you boot spup-120 and try this from a prompt (in X)

Code: Select all

setxkbmap -model 102 -layout sk
That gives me a qwertz keyboard whearas it was bugging out with the rules Puppy has been going by. Ok, on IRC :P

Forgot these ...

The tiny Transmission as built with:

Code: Select all

.
export CFLAGS="-march=i386 -mtune=i686 -Os -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe"
export CXXFLAGS=$CFLAGS
/configure --build=i486-pc-linux-gnu --sysconfdir=/etc --enable-gtk --disable-libnotify --disable-wx --disable-beos --disable-cli --disable-darwin --disable-daemon --disable-shared
make -j2
make DESTDIR=~/packages/`basename $(pwd)` install
strippkg ~/packages/`basename $(pwd)`
splitpkg ~/packages/`basename $(pwd)`
Cheers

The qt packages were kind of big, I did move the webkit to another package also, Most qt apps just use 3 libs, but Its like every couple months they make new libs and it grows.
If anyone wants to weed out my packages further feel free :)

I have as yet to get to a desktop and I have tried with the first fix of xorgwizard as well as selecting each nvidia included driver and the vesa driver.
None got me to a desktop.

So here I sit all broken hearted.
Tried to shit.
But only farted.

Hello :)!

Tried the 120 yelp (pre-alpha). BABY variant was a no-go. Standard got me to a desktop with correct resolution, testing xorgwizard results in un-recoverable BlkSoD - got the dreaded on-board i82845/Brookdale graphics thingy.

I always boot with boot param. pkeys=se, which, normally, gives me a Swedish keyb in X - not this time, though. However, it got me a faulty keyb on the (real/proper) command-line - most keys were correct, but our Swedish letters åÅäÄöÖ were replaced by Greek sigmas etc. (Went back and checked spup100 - same there for non-X.)

Anyway, pkeys param. put the appropriate entry into /etc/keymap, but I had to make an xkblayout=se entry to xorg.conf before getting sw. characters in X.

Got rid of the LC_COLLATE error msg by setting the locale to en_US, en_US.utf8 and then to the final en_GB(.utf8) (commenting out the culprit line in /etc/profile also worked, of course).

(I woofed up two slackpup pre-13.37s a few weeks ago (using my compilation of K2.6.37.6) - never got to the desktop, though :(. Haven't applied your xorg-hack yet, but will have another go ...)

In anticipation of a post-yelp incarnation of spup120 :D/ MHHP

Make a you a deal.

I'll do my best to fix the se bug if you fix permissions on your kernel source sfs  {permissions on sfs is a common problem)

Cheers! :)

gunzip the file "fr.gz"

Code: Select all

gunzip fr.gz
Copy or move it to /etc/X11/xkb/symbols/pc (code if it's saved in /root)

Code: Select all

cp -af ./fr /etc/X11/xkb/symbols/pc/fr
This should overwrite the old one. There will be a pet later, or maybe even a new spup if I can get the se bug fixed and the xorg sorted.
