:D Hello,
Yea, tempted as I was to include some `evaluation versions` in the Wine for PAW, I thought better when the ever vigilant Lobster called me on Notepad and Paint at Beta-2....

Bug report

by P123
I downloaded PAW RC-2 yesterday.

It detects & says it is connected to ethernet & wifi but is not.

There is 3 hard drives & the cd detected but I only 1 hard drive (which is not detected) & the cd.

I am using a Toshiba Satellite L30-101 with the ram upgrade to 2GB.

The programs included in the description sound fantastic its just a pity I can not connect to any media to play with them.

The included themes are great.

:D Hello,
@P123, Hello, and thanks for trying PAW out...(Or trying to...LOL)
1. The drive icons are a legacy issue, brought up earlier in the thread... Go to "Menu / Desktop / Desktop drive icons manager and check the "Tick box to erase and redraw" ect. box and restart X, that should fix it..
2. PAW actually has extensive Wi-Fi drivers and firmware and should pick up your card(s) right off, even the "dreaded" bcm.xxx cards..As for ethernet, that should be no problem with any Puppy...Did the md5sum match your D/L..?? Do other Puppies see it OK?...
3. Sorry for the halted progress on my part...My 3 yr old son kicked in the video connection on the back of my desktop and busted the Mobo..My work is (assumably) safe on the HDD, but gotta set up another box to run it from...I believe the old "dinosaur" P3-600 is finally, after 11 yrs, done for... :( .All of PAW,Transitions, Buddapup, and even Icepup are on it, so kinda set me back a bit.)...No worries, I have a P4-1.6 box ready, just hunting ram for it...A lot of my stuff went missing during my divorce, so gotta hunt it down elsewhere now...Be up and running again soon....Tell then, the old broken, half duct tape laptop has to suffice...LOL...

:) We need you Jay.

The next version stable Gimp 2.7 (unstable in development) will have a better interface - Hooray.
My sister is learning 'layers' in Photoshop after trying GIMP in Puppy. I used Gimpshop (not sure if still available) and found it much more intuitive

Fast connections allow (at the moment - ad free) paint programs such as

been a while since I posted here. thought I would try out RC2 but couldn't find it. the MD5sum is there but not the iso.
I've been out playing recently and found a neat application for HDR manipulation. it's called Qtpfsgui (not sure how you'd pronounce that). I don't know just how big or difficult it would be to offer but it really is cool.
here are a couple photos I've produced with it. some just enhancements and some more artistic.

I am uploading PAW_RC-2.iso, should be available in about 2 hours here:

It's 360meg, it'll be a while.

I like that International Harvester pic!

PAW RC2

I've just done a frugal install of PAW RC2. Initial impression is good, though I had to re-name the .sfs file ( as per jade14's first post ) to get it to boot Live CD. First major problem - I'm in the UK - is that although I've set UK keyboard in the keyboard/mouse wizard I'm still stuck with a US layout, apparently something is broken. Also Firefox doesn't open with CUPS when you try to add a printer - which is how I found I still had a US keymap, wanting to use hash to comment out a couple of lines in cups_shell which I thought might be the problem.
The only other thing to mention, which isn't a major issue for me, is that the Chickasha weather seems to have glued itself to Sysmon in widgets. Most weird!
Tomorrow - it's 22.10 local time now -I'll try setting up my Wacom tablet and see how that plays with Gimp. Keep up the good work Puppyluvr.

Supplemental. Wacom tablet installed OK, I couldn't get Gimp to see it as ' extended input device ', but that might be finger trouble on my part. If it weren't for the keyboard issue I'd be very tempted to persevere and make PAW my graphics set-up of choice.
EDIT. It was  For anyone who wants to add a Wacom tablet to PAW, follow Pizzasgood's guide, then activate ' Linux input ' in Gimp preferences, enter the device as </input/wacom> and you should be good to go.

:D Hello,
Glad to see PAW is still thriving in my absence...
I will continue to update PAW, but at a limited pace ATM...
Anyhow, I am still here, still working on PAW...
Thanks for enjoying my "baby", a lot of my heart went into it....
Hell, it cost me a marriage, LOL....

Hi Jay
I haven't been around much lately, ....busy on a boat repair
Glad you've survived, albeit minus a few computers and software
I remember the shock I felt when you made your departure
Hope the humour/self confidence will return intact....you always made me smile with quips like....

"We are Puppy....Resistance is Futile".....

Good Luck

Aitch :)

:D Hello,
Still here.. Still use PAW.
Hey, BTW, look at the Python development stuff in PAW.
By the time I got Phatch working, I had a lot of Python going on, so...

Thanks luvr, great to see you still hanging in with PAW. Out of curiosity, are you working/going to work on anything using the newer stuff...racy, precise? I know it takes a lot, but was just wondering what may be next :D

thanks again m8!

:D Hello,
I still use PAW daily, as it works the best with my 55" TV..
Since PAW, I released Lupen, which is 5.25 based with Compiz and Ciaro-Dock.
Still use it daily as well, on my laptop, posting from it now.. Love Compiz..
Several variations, with and without Compiz, are @ my link..
Since then, Ive just had time to tinker.
MultiPup and CosmoUI are a couple of projects I have been playing with.
I got sidetracked building 1000hz Kernels..
I have a Dpup with 3.6.2 and a Precise with 3.6.5 but the Precise has wireless issues. Wireless works, the GUI`s do not..
Also working on a Trek based Dpup with 3.6.2 and Espeak and a LCARS inspired interface...
So, yea, I`m still fiddling, just have not had much time of late, as being a mostly single parent requires a lot of time...

PAW no mouse cursor

Posted: Fri 04 Apr 2014, 02:18

PS/2 mouse with scroll wheel, works in Puppy 4.3.1 on same computer AMD K8 Socket 939 Biostar board). In PAW the cursor is invisible but if you guess just right the mouse is usable.

Is there some newer Puppy intended for photo editing? I am trying to wean my partner from Photoshop. Just upgraded him from 2003 to 2006 desktop with 1.5GB RAM.

Puppy seems confused by the card reader and cannot find any of the USB slots except the one in the card reader sde1. Any workarounds?
