@battleshooter
I have wikified the action genre here:
http://www.puppylinux.org/wiki/applicat ... mes_action
It must have taken you ages to do but it only took me 20 minutes to transfer it across, great job.

This might be an opportunity to allow other people to help out/contribute. But there is no point in doing this if you would prefer to make changes to the forum thread instead. If you like this idea I am happy to transfer the other genres sometime this week.

Looks great!

Linking the Wiki with the Threads would seem to produce the most long-term value.

That way they tend to keep one-another current as elements are added or new information becomes available.

Does there exist a rudimentary game making program for Linux, something like RPG Maker?

Wow! The Wiki page looks awesome HairyWill! Go ahead and feel free to do all the genres, I certainly won't mind. That way it can be a community effort rather than just one person which should cause it to be much more up to date. I've been very busy the last few days hence the late reply.

OK I have added all the genres to the wiki apart from 'other' which I object to on grounds of it not being descriptive, suggestions please for touchme and frets on fire should go. Maybe we should start a simulator page. Still need to create a top level page linking them all. Links are in the wiki recent changes

"suggestions please for touchme and frets on fire should go" -maybe you could create a directory for hard-to-classify games and call it something like 'other' and then put them there? {:-)

I suppose on a pinch Frets on Fire could go to action and Touchme Games to Puzzle or Cards/Board games. It's just that FoF seemed to be in a class on it's own and Touchme is a combination of two genres. That's the reason they are in "Other" but like you say, it's not particularly descriptive.

Which Mario games Edoc? Super Nintendo, Game boy, NES, etc. ? I'm aware of emulators for all of these available in Puppy, just let us know which one?

@ dejan555

You posted a second before I did :D

Our 6yr old is fond of most of the Mario chasing things and scoring points and adventure-type games. So most games that include Mario would be good.

He doesn't like fighting games.

The online sites with free Mario games are loaded with soft-core porn, violence, and witchcraft - not safe for his curious little mind.

Ya sure http://www.mariogame.info/games/SMF_v2.0.swf
right click on the link, "Save As" then click on it, Full screen its too large, but if you resize your browser screen it looks fine, and works out of the box with sound.
They have 24 mario flash games there, They look like original console games also http://www.mariogame.info/

Thanks! Looks safe ... though I am happier when he is simply offline entirely as he tends to surf when he gets bored ...

If your using FirePup or have another browser with Flashblock plugin, you'll get a "f" in the middle of the screen that you have to click to enable the flash game, movie etc, but with Flashblock if you right click on the 'f' it says "Copy Flash Location" <---- select that
then simply click menu/internet/ Axel download accelerator and paste the link, a couple of clicks later you have the game locally in root :)

if your using seamonkey you need to install it, here's a link
http://downloads.mozdev.org/flashblock/ ... 1.3.10.xpi
just install it and restart your browser, then you will surf faster on sites with flash and will be able to download any flash movies, games etc
