Hi Rastapax,

You've done a good job removing the heavy black lines which were not entirely necessary. The image is more refined, simplified, and clear using negative space, and implied space.

I'm not sure you need the USB or CDROM images in the top left. Those icons would interfere with a desktop as people might expect to click on them if the image were used as wallpaper.

Orange and green are more "avant-garde", and indeed almost any colour combination could be used. I prefer green though, although perhaps more subtle variations of it. I preferred the pastels in your original image. Green goes with part of the Puppy message which enables older machines to be recycled, rescued and re-purposed. I don't know how other users might feel about that, as Puppy is used on newer machines as well.

Although I liked your simple puppy face, I think you've done well with this new logo, and Puppy would be well served by it.

Here is a screen capture that uses Vincent as an icon. For this purpose I have grayed him a bit to avoid the original electric blue, next as a comparison. Next is also a gray dog, who also looked good in muted blue!

Looks good, but at full size is a bit bland.
the original was very distinctive, like manga art :D
Without the definition it loses some strength.
It is very nice though!

Awesome a new logo

There are some great renderings by all. It will be a difficult decision. I sure that whatever is chosen will best reflect what the distro is & can be. I will throw this out in the arena. I sure some will like, some hate. That is why we are unique.

 A vote for the toypug? yes, no, maybe. Not in the real world? Don't let something vicious attack it.

To MU, this is a revision of Vincent's drawing. On the previous one, its front right leg is thinner than the left, because on the original photo it was covered with a blanket. I also add its tail. You can easily removed it if you don't like (poor Vin).

To Henry, I will try to make a transparent button or with grayish color.

MGFox, that's a nice-looking pup! Could you post him without a background and the reflection? I would like to see what your creation looks like just on his own, without the button-effects.

What program did you use to create this? You might have commented on that earlier but if so I overlooked it? Did you work on a bigger original?

Thanks, MGFox,

Vincent still seems the way to go. Pleasant, eyecatching, distinctive, definitely a puppy.

On the other hand a paw print is not. There are lots of nondescript paw logos out there. Here's another, for Tomcat Apache, for example.

I'm really loving those buttons you've done MGFox! They are simply incredible and so... eye-catching and eye-appealing!

I've been saving them to a special "saved/backup" directory that I have and some day I hope to make (for personal use only as I gave up theming & icon making long ago) some alternate IceWM start buttons.

Don't get me wrong: I'm in love with our Puppy paw print design, that "classy glassy" start button we often use in IceWM, plus the one WhoDo made for EZpup, the one Pizzasgood made for his wallpaper, etc. But hey! Variety is after all the spice of life---and Spirits know we sure get a lot of nice rare spices around here with talented people like you working your magic!

Thank you for all these terrific designs, plus all you others who've submitted your wonderful works. I personally have enjoyed the artistry of this thread greatly indeed!

Amicalement,

Eye-Only
