EDIT2: I remembered that this was a problem in LxPupSc and your post to
peebee on it, I downloaded the pet that peebee made
(zz_udevrules_cd.pet) and installed it, then rebooted.
DVD's eject properly now.
Thanks Billtoo, I completely forgot about that, added to the todo list.

mistfire & rg66, Just as a note since I know you get questions on this. I switched the kernel for the 4.5.2 version in the current LxPupXenial using change_kernels run in terminal (I have also done 4.6.xx versions). It works fine, no glitches. I do this if I need the forcepae kernel parameter support for Pentium Ms earlier than the 750 version as that is only supported unpatched in 3.15.xx kernels and newer. That said, On my slightly :? older hardware the kernel currently in X-Slacko (3.14.56) has about 25% higher FPS in glxgears and works flawlessly IMO. The FPS difference is probably a function of kernel/driver/xorg match.
Pups currently in kennel :D Older LxPupSc and X-slacko-4.4 for my users; LxPupSc, LxPupSc64 and upupEF for me. All good pups indeed, and all running savefiles for look'n'feel only. Browsers, etc. solely from SFS.

Manual frugal install to a 32gb flash drive, computer is a hp desktop:

video-info-glx 1.5.3 Fri 5 Aug 2016 on X-Slacko 4.2 Linux 3.14.56 i686
0.0 VGA compatible controller:
AMD/ATI [Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.] Redwood PRO [Radeon HD 5570]
oem: ATI ATOMBIOS
product: REDWOOD 01.00

X Server: Xorg Driver: radeon
X.Org version: 1.14.3
dimensions: 1920x1080 pixels (507x285 millimeters)
depth of root window: 24 planes

direct rendering: Yes
server glx vendor string: SGI
server glx version string: 1.4
OpenGL vendor string: X.Org
OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on AMD REDWOOD
OpenGL version string: 2.1 Mesa 9.1.7

AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1045T Processor
Core 0: @800 1: @800 2: @800 3: @800 4: @800 5: @800 MHz

I tried a new install on this computer and it couldn't get to the
desktop, xorgwizard wouldn't run, had to hold power button to power
off.

I did another manual frugal install and booted and set it up on my
lenovo desktop (nvidia graphics), created a save file, copied the radeon folder from
/lib/firmware in Slacko64 to /lib/firmware on the new install.
Booted up the new flash drive on my hp desktop.

I ran the network wizard and it's using eth1.
I updated PPM and installed applications, added some pets, and compiled
Smplayer and Smtube.

The other day I tried a new install of X-slacko Slim and just copied
the /lib/firmware/radeon folded from Slacko64 to /lib/firmware of the
new install, it got to the desktop but was using the modesetting
driver which is unaccelerated, only other driver offered when
xorgwizard was run is vesa.

Anyway, it's working well now :)

Finally updated the X-Slacko 4.0 on the Bay Trail desktop. No problems noted, Samba shares, printers, autoconnection to wired ethernet on startup all correct. In the summer, this box pretty much sits in the cellar as a NAS box. I use it more in the winter as the woodstove is down here. At any rate, it serves reliably and using minimal power and had been running 4.0 nonstop since its release.

Nice job on this distro, rg66! XFCE is always a pleasure to use. Put it on a SDHC card partition and everything runs smooth & good, handles multiple screens well, video and sound, honestly cannot find anything wrong with it. Good job!!

Thank you, I really appreciate it. I already have a small to-do list but nothing too important. I'll wait for a while before releasing v4.3.

I compiled wine-1.9.16 and tried to get kodi to run, kodi-15.2 was close to
working well but couldn't play videos.
Xbmc-13.2 Gotham is working okay but many addons are no longer
supported.

I did a manual frugal install to the hard drive of my 12 year old
COMPAQ Presari S6700NX desktop:

video-info-glx 1.5.3 Fri 12 Aug 2016 on X-Slacko 4.2 Linux 3.14.56 i686
0.0 VGA compatible controller: AMD/ATI [Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.] RV530 [Radeon X1600 PRO]
oem: ATI ATOMBIOS
product: RV530 01.00

X Server: Xorg Driver: radeon
X.Org version: 1.14.3
dimensions: 1920x1080 pixels (507x285 millimeters)
depth of root window: 24 planes

direct rendering: Yes
server glx vendor string: SGI
server glx version string: 1.4
OpenGL vendor string: X.Org R300 Project
OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on ATI RV530
OpenGL version string: 2.1 Mesa 9.1.7

Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz
Core 0: @2800 1: @2800 MHz

It's been upgraded from original with a better graphics card, sound card, and added
1gb ram, also using a usb DVD drive.

I added applications with PPM + pets + compiled some.

It's working well.

EDIT: I compiled wine-1.9.16 on this COMPAQ (took a little over 2
hours) and run XBMC-13.2 under wine.
It works pretty well.

Xslacko looks interesting and will try it out.
However, I didn't see a devx sfs for it, does one exist?, can one use the Slacko 6.3.2 version or is everything required already part of Xslacko hence no need for the devx sfs?

@Pete, just use the slacko-6.3.2 devx. If you need to compile Xfce stuff you might also need the Xfce dev files.

http://smokey01.com/rg66/X-slacko/testi ... 12_DEV.pet.

For virtualbox use the tahr 3.14.56 pae kernel sources.

Tried out X-slacko and very impressed with it, certainly better than Mint 18.
Dual monitor support worked a treat, so did sound on a HP Elitebook 8440p
with i5 and 2GB RAM.

Just wish there were more packages available for it.

KDE for fun

KDE for fun,i will try it. We like fun, us, retired people, BK with Quirky, and me with XFCE, Xnoise music player Copyright © 2008-2011 Jörn Magens.. playing when i watch canadians women beat germans ones, on the TV.
XFCE apps are not just released, but they play music for few MBs.
KDE.. Hum.. wait and see.
X-Slacko Version 4.2 dowloading.
plus X-slacko-2.3.2.iso 15-Jan-2015 20:06 206M
XFCE for Foreign languages :
Perhaps in the future, Our Toutou french team would think to release X-slacko remake.. to replace XFCE 410 Jejy69, 2012
Skamilinux issued last XFCE in 2010 SevenPuppy 10 + XFCE, perhaps they would renew magyar Puppytheque too. I contact them.. X-Slacko is worth an hungarian version.
I check Pupjibaros, i don't think they have an XFCE Puppy latina.

Picked up a small problem with X slacko full install on a HP Elitebook 8440p
with i5 and 2GB RAM.

Every now and again, it will not shutdown.
It drops down to the cli then just sits there with the log in screen.
Tried going back into X then shutting down, does the same thing.
Typing "shutdown" in the cli does nothing even though the command is accepted.

Any pointers, suggestions?

Hi @rg66 I tried to apply Redmond-Delta theme on xfce appearance of X-slacko 4.2. But it does not work. The appearance return to fallback. But the its window manager theme works. This theme works fine on x-slacko 4.1. Can you help me to fix this problem?
