Booted straight to desktop with network connection and sound present.Something seems to have changed in the sound dept' for me.
I always have main speakers and headphones working together but this wont allow that(one or the other but not both) no matter how much messing about in Retrovol.
Everything else so far looking fine.

Edit
Gnome Mplayer doesn't start.

UMplayer from the PPM does 'NOT' display the thumbnail graphics in the 2nd window after a youtube search... yes, you can still click on the video you want and it will play. Maybe needs qt4 UMplayer?

You have to add gmtk from the package manager.

When you install Slacko Puppy to a computer.
Is this why they say your computer is"Slackofied"?
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected

Thank you for all the hard work that you've put into Lucid and Slacko as well as many other fine contributions. I've been amazed at how much you've been able to accomplish and your programming skills that are apparently self-taught.

Best wishes on your further studies. :D

Jim

You're welcome Jim and thanks to you for your great support. Without you and many like you (you all know who you are  ) there'd be no Slacko.

Just to clarify, the next release will likely be the last one before Slackware bumps version. I wont have the time for full on development, but I will still be around. I have 6 months of solid study coming up so I will be a little quiet. By then I expect Slackware will have updated and a new dev cycle can begin.

I have a week to get things into shape for the next release. I think they are shaping up nicely so if I can get to RC in that week I'll be happy.

Slacko 5.3.3-alpha3 ..testing (5.3.1.3)

#110 Post by Billtoo »

I'm running the live dvd with a save file.
On first bootup it went straight to the desktop and the screen
resolution, wired network, and sound were all good.
I installed the devx + kernel source + NVIDIA-Linux-x86-275.43.run
I installed avplayersj2-slacko-i686.sfs too :)

Sun 22 Jan 2012 Operating System: Slacko Puppy-5.3.1.3 Linux 3.1.10-slacko_4g
0.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation C77 [GeForce 8200] (rev a2)
0.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G98 [GeForce 9300GE](rev a1)
oem: NVIDIA product: MCP77 Board - mcp78pvo Chip Rev

X Server: Xorg Driver: nvidia
X.Org version: 1.9.5
dimensions: 1440x900 pixels (373x231 millimeters)
depth of root window: 24 planes

Athlon(tm) Dual Core Processor 4850e
Core 0: 2499 1: 2499 MHz

The CPU frequency scaling utility isn't working.
I needed an extra reboot to compile the proprietary Nvidia driver
because of the nouveau driver.
That's it so far.

EDIT:I switched to icewm, works better with vlc.

Hi 01micko,

I have tried an upgrade and a fresh frugal install and both are working well after about 3 hours of testing.

One feature that I personally miss is the "close" command at the bottom of the calendar seen after clicking on the time in the bottom right hand corner. I am happy to see the new tray icon (as well), but as it was, I only had to move my cursor up a fraction and click to advance one month (which I can still do) then move my cursor back to the corner and click to close then click again to reopen with today highlighted (which I cannot now do).

I happen to like minimal cursor movement and minimal clicks, though I can see that does not suit everyone.

Thank you for all your help and my very best wishes for your future success and happiness.

:)

Thanks for working on Lucid and Slacko.
Good luck with the studies.
I am still happily using Puppy Slacko.

The pressure on the lead developer is notorious and it is good you were distracted by work, Billy the dog and such real life responsibilities.

Without Barry, Larry. Jemimah and our growing support of geekified penguins. Puppy would not evolve AND continue to support the underpowered.

For those of us testing, managing the wiki, compiling, supporting users etc we know how worthwhile the results are.

Jasper,
Yes that calendar bug is a nuisance and I think caused by new jwm, if I can determine that I'll report to Joe, however I am very reluctant to roll back jwm with all the new useful features included. I will find a solution. Perhaps adding back the window decorations will suffice for now, at least you'll have the "X" to click, That also alerted me to the fact that I have a buggy version of Osmo, thanks.

James, woops, no mtpaintsnapshot! Thanks.

Billtoo, maybe your module is missing for cpu scaling, did it work in the 3.1.9 kernel?

aarf, thanks for deltas, I'll link to main post. An older devx is ok as libraries are generally the same.
