Geany and UTF-8 conversion

Melville's "Army of Shadows", with "Army" spelled in French is the problem.

What, with Geany, is the solution?

Or a pointer to what the user needs to know. I noticed that when trying to modify the text, the offending diacritical mark just got bumped back by the backspace key, rather than being deleted, as were the other characters in the word.

Nico editor didn't have the problem.
