Hi guys, I'm not actually newbie in linux systems, but I need help with some issues in this system. First of which I've encounter is a problem with scanning. I'm using EPSON Stylus SX 205 and I completely can't figure out how to get it to use. It's a printer actually but with scanner attached. And as a printer works fine when it comes to using scanner I've tried to start XSane at first. I can just click on that my scanner is attached via USB, Parallel or via everything else - programms just crashes. When I tried to run it in terminal it says that "maybe" it detected my scanner but it seems to not actually know it Wink What should I do? I can't find any support about such issues in this system, I dno't know if there are any more programms or drivers I could try. In different repos like from debian the programms doesn't work. They need too many dependencies.
Thanks in advance for help.

As a general rule, you need three things to make your scanner visible to SANE.

1. You must add a line to the file /etc/sane.d/dll.conf that identifies the model of your scanner.

The Epson SANE backend is called "epkowa", so you will add that name to the end of the file /etc/sane.d/dll.conf

2. You need the backend shared library file for your scanner in /usr/lib/sane. These libraries are supposed to be self-contained, but the Epson version has some dependencies.

3. The configuration file epkowa.conf is added to the folder /etc/sane.d

[Edit]Go here. This is the full Epkowa package compiled for Puppy by jamesbond.
