@jrb
I doubt sending you one of my .gif's would help, but thanks for the offer...
Peasyprint 3 won't print anything even .jpg .png and yet any text in leafpad will print right out, so, not the printer. I've tried several gtklp versions along with a few different versions of mtpaint and peasy 2 and 3 but, I can't pinpoint the problem so for the time being have to leave UPupBB with what I found in my testing, may come back to it at a later date, lots of other stuff to do right now.

In PeasyPrint, are you sure that the paper size in CUPS matches the paper size in PeasyPrint?
Can PP print to the CUPS-PDF printer and generate a PDF file?
[Edit] I installed upupbb again, ran mtPaint and loaded a GIF.
I printed it via Actions > Print Image > gtklp
It printed successfully to both the CUPS-PDF printer and an HP laser printer.
The filename did NOT appear in the gtklp input box, but it printed anyway.

@sszindian
I suggest that as a test you configure printing for MtPaint to and see if that will work. This will only involve MtPaint and Cups and may eliminate or confirm gtklp as the problem.

OK...
I just had to try one more thing before putting UPupBB on the shelf!
A new load boot totally from RAM with no savefile load from original download.
Installed hplip_3.17.10+repack0-5 from the PPM. Installed printer, printed a perfect test page.
Transferred my clipart file from another puppy (Vivid6.5 401 Kernel- fantastic puppy) Loaded a graphic in the original mtpaint 3.49.12 (it gave a gtkpl %f as print function but like rcrsn's, NO PATH WAS IN THE DIALOGUE BOX) proceded to print... IT PRINTED without a hitch.
So,So,So... someplace along the line something went haywire and did a number on my previous/regular UPupBB savefile and it STUCK in there.
Could have been something I did along the line of adding files OR maybe something in one of the updates? I am going to do a #7 update on the new UPupBB, burn a new .iso and see what happens? Might not be for a few days though.
Hey peebee, don't get excited yet, maybe all you did was correct after-all

My no-print problem may be my fault, and maybe not my fault... If reports aren't done by someone... right or wrong... who's going to find things. Yes, I will continue to test things on new puppy builds just because developers like peebee and others don't have the time to do it.
Just for the fun of it... I uninstalled printer, hplip, all dependencies on the UPupBB that won't print.
Then reinstalled everything again and guess what! NO PRINT (same as before) and... just wondering why there isn't any "path" listed in the dialogue box? for both peasy and mtpaint???
Hmmm must be everything is working as it should huh? I think not!
Hey, thanks for giving your time and getting involved!

Seems pretty resolved to me. Everyone has gotten printing to work.proebler wrote:Confirming jrb’s finding that mtPaint will print a gif via PeasyPrint 3.0
sszindian's original problem appears to have been a flawed save file which certainly happened to me often enough before I quit using them.
BTW, Thanks once again peebee. IMO upupbb is an excellent Puppy.

More nice work M. peebee,thanks.
Can someone else using wacom with easystroke installed from ppm confirm strange x freezing(if its a x problem...or libinput) behaviour with stock upupbb kernel ?
Here using wacom ISDv4 E3 pen or touch after few easystroke actions are used it goes to black screen with red dots on left screen then poweroff without saving.
When using any other huge kernel in upupbb,now lxpup64 4.17 everything is fine,no freezing. Only tested 64bits kernels but that should not be the source of the solution..
Artfulpup has the same problem.

Puppy has "traditionally" used a kernel patched to include AUFS to provide its union filesystem....
The standard kernel comes with a simpler union filesystem called overlayfs (which doesn't require external patches...)
@gyro has been developing a version of the puppy infrastructure using overlayfs and has provided a delta to convert UpupBB-18.05+8 to overlayfs working.
Try it from:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 776#998776
There are changes** to how puppy behaves when using overlayfs as opposed to aufs which are summarised at:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 777#989777
** e.g. menu.lst boot commands, sfs handling, no saveFILES - saveFOLDERS are OK
I'm sure @gyro would welcome testing and feedback.
Cheers

@peebee, thanks for the mention.
I would particularly appreciate answers to the question;
which of the "bright" ideas implemented (differences from "normal" Puppy), might be considered a step forward?
But please do not post answers in this topic, use this one http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=110636.

I have a problem about additional monitor.
I choose systems, monitor settings, then i choose advanced, and i choose external vga monitor position on left. I got like this.
The tray is not on bottom my external vga monitor, but flying like this:
Another thing is, Network Connection Wizard says that No interfaces are active, But actually it is actve. The tray can say that.
Edit:
I fix my first problem by manually editing file /root/.jwm/jwmrc-tray2

i’m a bad tester with good intentions...
Did a upupbb+8 test on another tabletpc with exact same wacom device, stock kernel,fresh frugal install,easystroke ,no problem...then taught it could be hardware specific and l have tested on the problematic tablet with a fresh savefolder of +8...
ok too...think i was still using an 'upgraded' artfulpup savefolder in upupbb...oups...
of topic but,search forum for rights problem using microphone in chromium run as spot,did not find the way yet ,someone got a mic working?
