Massive Puppy to try out

#3 Post by labbe5 »

Hi,

I am curious about a Puppy this big, since we are used to small ones. But i am pretty sure one will find everything under the hood, and i mean EVERYTHING, since a small Puppy contains already a lot, in terms of fonctionnalities, apps, and so on.

I hope it will be available for some time, because i would like to download it.

Cheers.

great -

#8 Post by nancy reagan »

Been using this pup for a few days and like it a lot. Very light.

(Strangely enough on the 1 compu it is very fast and the other less, while they both have 2G. On the one it loads the tv-prog and the other not (very minor remakrs))

However, when I want to go to desktop I cannot find the icon ?

Q Any ideas "how to switch quickly to the desktop ?

Thought English is set in the menu there are applications that are in Hungarian, whoch I do not understand.

Q Any idea how to switch this to English ?

(I am a prof NOOB)

Q Would you tell WHAT you updated with latest ?

SOLVED!English Version?

#9 Post by davec51 »

I made a frugal installation. The system is beautiful and looks awesomely complete. Is there an English version. Sadly, I don't know Hungarian.
I followed the instructions in the mp4 and now I can use Swissknife in English. I haven't tested every program, but thanks, csipesz, for your work.

Watch this:

(green download button,center, no other!)
desktop icon problem:
if after first restart any icons disappear from desktop,
you need start the DESKSETUP app, and the bottom of his window
simply put the "apply" button!

Thank you for your answer, apparently I did not make myself clear enough.

Changing to English.

I did what you did in your video, BUT, NOT IN ALL programs language changes to English, for example Libre CAD, Skype.

Going back to desktop

By that I mean, being in an program, and wanting to go to the desktop, in other puppies there is that tiny icon, with the desklamp, by which it is easy to, show, switch to desktop.

Today's update

What did you change in the update ?

langpacks for changing language

#13 Post by labbe5 »

Hi,
For those not fluent in Hungarian, there is a possibility to change language, English, French, etc, which has not been mentioned, i think.
Under Setup category of a Puppy, any recent one, there are language packs in the package manager. You download the English one.
When Precise 5.5. Swissknife is opened, just click on the Pet, to have it installed.
I did that, and while there are still Hungarian words here and there, it's mostly understandable.
By the way, i am very appreciative of this OS. I thought no one would ever offer something this big, with a lot of apps pre-installed. I never had any luck with a Puppy package manager, most of the time what i want i can not install, because of missing dependencies.
A unique blend of apps.
Thanks.

All right, dear Hamoudoudou - know about him only, that this a rather early work of mine. I was much more inexperienced yet in those days...
from the Precise family, the CsipeszPup are a more perfect piece - I would recommend it to anyone - for weaker computers...
